The hotel is situated right in the centre of Alykes, which is full of restaurants and tavernas serving countless exquisite island delicacies. A stone’s throw away from a beautiful beach, and the Zakynthos Airport Dionysios Solomos is only 19.6 km, around 31 minutes by car. The hotel offers modern, spacious rooms and has been described as a true gem by guests. The hotel comprises of a spacious lounge with satellite TV and relaxing music, is open 24 hours. The bar with the swimming pool offers all day relaxing sunbathing, and refreshing cocktails, and finally the restaurant, with the sunny patio, where dinner is served, all prepared from the kitchen of the hotel. For the guests travelling by car, the hotel offers spacious parking. The air conditioned rooms are modern, have a private bathroom with a hair dryer and toiletries.
Take advantage of recreation opportunities such as a seasonal outdoor pool or take in the view from a terrace and a garden. Lovely hotel,ideal location very quiet about a 7 minute walk to the beach and tavernas,staff are very friendly and the rooms are very clean they also supply shampoo and shower gel and toothbrush and toothpaste and slippers which is a lovely touch.breakfast is buffet style with plenty of choice,unfortunately we stayed half board and this is what let it down the evening meal,not much choice,small portions and not very hot ,it did get slightly better as the week went on ,but we ate out a couple of times, we would definitely stay again but bed and breakfast.
This is a very pleasant,clean and relaxed hotel. Our room was spacious,really comfy bed, air conditioning,very clean and a wonderful view of the sea and you can see kefalonia. The location is perfect a short stroll (3-5 mins) down the hill brings you to the many lovely restaurants,bars and the glorious beach. We stayed on bed and breakfast basis ,the breakfast was plentiful and varied choices,there was something for everyone. Lovely coffees available too ! The pool area was always spotless and plenty of beds which were padded and comfortable. There are some luxury beds which you can use if you spend 30 euros in the snack bar. The large pool was clean ,only a small shallow area but there is another very shallow pool for little children and a jacuzzi pool. We were there the second week of the school holidays and the pool area was never crowded, the close proximity to the beautiful beach is probably why . All the staff were friendly and helpful .There is no entertainment at this hotel ,no pool table or anything for kids to do do apart from a little park ,play area for small children but you are close enough to walk to shops and bars . We would definitely stay here again for a lovely,chilled holiday.
We recently spent 7 wonderful days at Koukounaria Hotel in Zakynthos, with breakfast included, and we were absolutely delighted with our stay. We had originally booked and paid for a Chic Room, but upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a much larger room at no extra cost. We truly appreciated this lovely gesture! The breakfast was excellent — very rich and varied, with plenty of options to suit every taste. The staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the housekeeping was done every day. The swimming pool was very clean and well maintained. The hotel itself had such a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. And the quietness… so much quiet! Exactly what we needed for a relaxing holiday. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and enjoyed every moment at Koukounaria. We would happily return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, peaceful, and relaxing holiday in Zakynthos.
Had a lovely seven night stay (bed and breakfast) at the Koukanaria as a quick late summer getaway.
Check in was quick and efficient and the very nice lady from reception walked us to our accommodation block and pointed out some of the hotel amenities on the way (where breakfast is served, restaurant, pool bar and so on). That was a very nice and welcoming touch.
We had a “chic room” (305) with a very large balcony overlooking the pool. The room was exceptionally clean and well appointed. There is a fridge, kettle and wall mounted TV as well as air conditioning and a safety deposit box. There isn’t much drawer space (more a small cupboard) and the shower room didn’t have a window - but these were minor issues that didn’t detract from our enjoyment.
Breakfast was a good variety and plentiful. Good range of hot and cold options as well as various different coffees (tea also available). We didn’t eat in the main restaurant so can’t comment on that but we used the pool snack bar a fair few times and the food was decent.
You can order drinks to your table via a QR code round the pool (as well as from the cabanas) which was a nice touch. There are three pools - a large 25m pool, a jacuzzi pool and a children’s pool. All excellent.
The bar at the hotel (the Garden Bar) is an underused asset. We sat and had a drink there a few times but it feels more like a restaurant than a bar. With some more relaxed seating on tables not set for dinner we would have made a lot more of it.
That said the hotel is only a short (5 min) walk to the main strip in Alykes with all the bars, restaurants and beach within easy reach.
This was our 5th trip to Alykes and Koukanaria was definitely the best accommodation we have stayed in there. All of the staff, without exception, were lovely. We will definitely be back!
We spent 11 nights in August on B&B basis. Bus drops you off at the main road just a very short walk uphill to the hotel. This hotel is in a fabulous location with gorgeous countryside views all around and a 5 minute walk to town. We were welcomed by a lovely lady on reception who walked us to our block and showed us to the lift- we were on the top floor facing the pool. Our room was huge and very clean with a king size bed - a sofa and sofa bed - with a big balcony overlooking the pool. Only problem we had was when showering - water spilled out into the rest of the bathroom due to small shower screens - this made the floor very slippery. Be prepared to use a lot of towels to mop up. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice - staff constantly monitoring and replenishing food. The staff in this hotel are so pleasant, friendly and hardworking . They make you feel very special and this certainly contributed to making our stay very enjoyable. Superb pool - I have not seen a pool this big in any resort hotel for years. Loads of loungers and never full. Had a couple of snacks in the snack bar and the food was good . Can’t comment on the bistro as we ate out every evening. Alykes is a small pretty resort with a lot of very good restaurants and bars -and a beautiful sandy beach ( €15 2 beds and parasol) - we just loved it. The locals were so friendly and accommodating- nothing was too much trouble. Also the neighbouring resort of Alykanas was only a 20min scenic walk along the river or beach - bonus of two lovely resorts with plenty of places to eat drink and relax. Alykes and the Koukounaria hotel were exactly what we hoped for on a holiday and is one of the places we will certainly be returning.
