Stayed here with my wife as part of a multi island trip. With hindsight it was probably a mistake but one I could have anticipated. To be clear this is not a bad hotel, the room was beautiful, the airport pick up flawles, the waiting staff very friendly and the wine list comprehensive. But I should have known what a hotel that is part of the Marriott group (where I stay all the time on business), in Santorini in the middle of peak season would be like. Think noisy pool with loads of screaming children, a 30 minute wait for someone to bring your luggage to your room, harassed front of house staff, people feeding french fries to the cats, staff too busy checking on whether you have allergies to listen to your order etc. Worst by far was the minimally talented pub singer in the Alati / Meat the Sea restaurant, crucifying every cheesy classic from the last 30 years. You’d have to be deaf to think this constitutes a pleasant experience. My brother in law who is Greek tells it’s a tradition to pile napkins at the feet of a singer and set them on fire. I was seriously tempted.
First, let me start with the accommodations! This place was AMAZING! As an avid traveler, this place is #1 on my list.
Although it’s about 15 min from the center city , the resort had everything you could ever want or need with round the clock service. The resort arranged transportation at a very low cost to and from the city whenever needed and kept us abreast of any changes to the excursions.
The villas are like home, surrounded by beautiful landscaping that is always well manicured not to mention EXTREMELY clean and spacious! The quaint villas are modern decorated with great air conditioning and the bed met my expectations.. ( I am very picky)!!!
Staff /Service: From the time I stepped out of the car service I was greeted with a warm welcome and smile from EVERY single staff that was present!! I was pampered by the luggage carriers carrying my belongings of up many steps (please pack light for their sake..lol)
Within the four day stay I was greeted with smiles, professionalism and staff that were caring, thoughtful and wanted to ensure the perfect stay! I had such an amazing time I thought I was in an episode of “White Lotus”.lol!!!
The little village surrounded the resort had amazing shops, views, restaurants if you wanted to explore. The Spa was so luxurious and the massage was EXCELLENT!
There were several multiple restaurants at the resort of which one was located in a Cave setting and roof top where you had the most scenic views of Santorini!
While there were so many pleasant and courteous staff, I would like to highlight the following: JM (front desk clerk from Philippines), Melinda ( front desk who SHOULD BE A MANAGER).. this girl was amazing, helpful, arranged what ever was needed and then some! She takes the award for hospitality!! Next was Maria( Manager), especially Panas (food and beverage manager) .who made quit the impression on my friend who was traveling as well!
Next is Katerina who was superb! She is so smart, remembers your orders without taking notes and got it right every time. I had a nut allergy and she ensured every meal was selected without any tracing of nuts. She really sealed the deal for me! Last, but not least was Goram, Aerostatol, and Erin, in the restaurant along with the guy in landscaping from Ghana who greeted me with a smile no matter the location. He could be seen sweeping and ensuring the grounds were well manicured each morning.
I really want to thank Marriot for such a wonderful stay and for hiring THE BEST SUMMER CREW!!
I am recommending anyone who wants to vacation on the Greek Isle and Mediterranean and want to feel like luxury. I highly recommend the VEDEMA LUXURY RESORT AND SPA when visiting Santorini!!! - P.Williams/ Aug 2026 / aka E5
Vedema was one of the highlights of our time in Santorini. The resort itself is gorgeous, and the pool setup is fantastic—spacious, relaxing, and never crowded, with plenty of room to settle in for the day. The poolside service was excellent, and we loved the unexpected touches, like surprise fruit platters delivered while we lounged. A special thank-you to Maria and to the bartender who made us the most delicious Orange Crushes—I’m sorry I didn’t catch her name!
The entire staff made our stay feel special. Tasos and Eri were wonderful at breakfast, as was Sam, who also took great care of us by the pool. Kristos was a fantastic bartender, and George and Vassilis were incredibly helpful and welcoming throughout our stay, as well as our driver Kristos.
The resort also made getting around Santorini remarkably easy by arranging cars and taxis for us whenever we needed them. We loved staying in Megalochori—it’s a beautiful, charming village with plenty of places to eat and explore, while still making it easy to visit Thira and Oia. We even happened to be there for a village festival one evening, complete with traditional Greek dancing, which was such a fun and memorable experience. Gavalas Winery's tasting room is definitely worth a stop!
Vedema gave us the perfect combination of a beautiful resort, genuinely warm service, and a location that felt like part of the local community. We would absolutely stay again.
Stunning hotel! On my second visit was upgraded from a suite to an Olympian Villa. The villas are spacious, beautifully designed and furnished, with a wonderful outdoor Terrace and private pool looking towards the southern shore of the island. The general facilities, including two large outdoor pools, modern and well equipped fitness center, outdoor rooftop restaurant (magical at night) , and flower and vegetation adorned grounds, are gorgeous. It is a little five star village nestled in an authentic living village.
The only downside is that if you are coming to Santorini to take photos for your Instagram of yourself and your companion(s) lounging in an infinity pool perched on a cliff, overlooking the iconic caldera view, this is not the correct hotel and you will need to drive 20 to 30 minutes to get yourself there. If however, you are looking for a peaceful, beautiful refuge on Santorini that allows you to stay put, slow down, and access whatever else to the island can offer with a short drive, than this is the place for you.
I congratulate the managers on running an incredible show with an incredible staff in a piece of paradise, and hope to return again and again
I loved this hotel—the service, location, food, and staff were all excellent. My only comment is that I had a bit of trouble opening the door since it isn’t electric; the key kept getting stuck each time I used it. Aside from that small inconvenience, I highly recommend this place.
