In addition, the on-site restaurant serves a vast variety of culinary delights. All air-conditioned accommodation units include an en-suite bathroom and Internet access. Guests are able to make use of the swimming pool located in the well-tended grounds.
Be sure to enjoy recreational amenities including an outdoor pool and bicycles to rent. This hotel also features complimentary wireless Internet access, babysitting (surcharge) and gift shops/newsstands.
Although we found every member of staff within the hotel to be helpful and extremely friendly, one member of staff really made our time at the hotel pleasurable. Aida made our breakfast experience unforgettable! As soon as we walked through the dining room doors, we were greeted by the beaming smile of this young lady, which immediately brightened the day! What an asset this young girl is to the hotel! Although she had many orders for omlettes, Aida remained calm and professional under pressure. She chatted away to us whilst she cooked and even remembered the ingredients to our omlette each time! Her appearance and indeed the cleanliness of her station were outstanding! Aida is such a dedicated and hardworking young lady and should be commended for this alone! I really hope that this review is read and appreciated by the managers of the hotel and that feedback is passed on to this remarkable young lady. Thank you Aida.

CLEANLINESS: Could have been so much better ! There is still & has been for last few months norovirus in Rhodes. Currently norovirus at this hotel with many people ill when my husband & I were there. Confirmed with a member of staff who said there were many people ill (beg of Oct) . Extra bottles of water were being distributed to rooms. We had 4 large bottles in our fridge on arrival & then 2 days later there were an extra 3 bottles in our room when we got back after a day out ! Uncannily,the following 6 days we had to stay at the hotel as both myself & my husband were simultaneously ill. Consequently we did not see any of Rhodes other than old Rhodes and a day trip to Symi before we were ill.
There were hand sanitisers around the hotel but hardly anybody used them. They do not protect against norovirus. Proper hand washing with soap & water is required. Should have been notices around asking people to take extra care.
Staff phoned to see how I was after a few days after my husband told them I was ill which was a nice touch but no comment was made when I said my husband was ill -they just rang off quickly and made no comment!
The swimming pool was grimy...black tide mark very obvious all around the water level. Fan by the popcorn stand in the pool bar area was filthy. Room cleaning did not seem to include cleaning of the toilet or sweeping the floor albeit "make up my room please" signs on the door. LOCATION : Building going on all around. No noise - just half built properties
Let me start by saying that this hotel was very clean and the staff were polite. The hotel is in a good location.
Having read reviews before we came and when we got back, I think we must have been staying at a different hotel!
The Mitsis had a big hotel opposite the Petit Palais which is undergoing a huge refurbishment. We had a room at the front of the Petit with the building works directly opposite (the site is enormous). Our room was very dusty and quite tricky to sit on the balcony whilst the workers were on site, dusty and lots of shouting.
The Petit is what I would regard as an old fashioned hotel, tired looking. (We later found out it is 50 years old and it shows) Our curtains did not fit the doors properly (were hanging off on one side) and looked like a chunk of them had been cut off at the bottom and another piece of material in a completely different colour sewn on.
The air con was very noisy and the unit on the balcony even more so. The light display on the air con unit in the room lights the whole room up! The only alternative is to turn it off but then it's too hot!
There was a big crack in our sink and you needed to be a contortionist to use the shower!
The cleaner did a great job in the room and water refreshed every other day. There is a fridge. Tea/coffee. Clean towels every day.
The door to the room has an actual key (novel) and the same for the safe.
There is wardrobe space, there was also a cupboard with shelves in but too narrow to actually put anything in!
The pool area is very small, whilst I appreciate it's a town centre hotel, you will need to get there early to get a bed, there are nowhere near enough for the size of the hotel.
The beach is only round the corner but the sunbeds on the beach you have to pay for, varying rates from €20 up to €80! Obviously you can just take a towel.
We booked through Thomas Cook and there is no onsite rep, you are given online details if you need help.
Rhodes Old Town is lovely, not far from the hotel.
There is nothing for children at this hotel apart from a small pool. There is entertainment but honestly not worth the effort and again, held by the pool with not enough seats.
The customer base was predominantly older people, there were not many young people. The staff made extra fuss of the older people for sure. There was a snack bar by the pool, it does offer snacks but they are basic.
The indoor bar does not offer snacks, only 'cake' which sits out for quite some time.
The biggest disappointment was the food. Now - all inclusive food is often a bit hit and miss. No vegetarian options except salad and repurposed salads. No vegan options - see above. Lots of repurposing of meat especially (I understand about keeping wastage low) but honestly we thought the food was awful. We stayed for 9 nights and by night 4/5 starting eating away from the hotel.
Both my husband and then I fell victim to the sick bug and we are always very on top of hand washing so be prepared! The pharmacist told us that Rhodes has been rife with sickness for weeks. Again - the staff were very good and called our room twice to see if we were ok and if we needed anything.
I would rate this hotel at a (UK) 3 - falls short of being a 4 star. This holiday was not cheap but on arriving and hearing about the refurbishment happening over the road all visitors are clearly paying for that refurbishment, 3 star hotel at 4 star prices.
Apparently the hotel opposite was absolutely fabulous, according to people who had been coming for years, that ethos doesn't appear to have transferred across the road to the Petit!
I wouldn't return. If you're thinking of going wait until the refurbishment has finished opposite! (Although it intends to be high end so prices will reflect)!
Had a lovely week at Petite Palais. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms spacious and clean. Beds comfortable. Excellent location. Stones throw from shops bars restaurants and the Old Town about 20 mins walk. Highly recommended.
