Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
My husband and I are about to check out after a five night stay at Lindos Royal. Please do not be put off by the bad reviews. The resort is absolutely amazing with incredible views. I am going to respond to some of the negative points written in other reviews in hopes it may help someone who may want to book this resort.
Looking tired or cracked tiles - there are certainly parts of the resort that may need a refresh however I’ve not been to a hotel where there isn’t an area which requires a slight refresh. And you can see they are doing some work on the hotel. There are some cracked tiles but it’s an incredibly hot country and to be expected- the place is still gorgeous.
Sewage smell - there are on occasion an unpleasant smell from certain areas - again it’s a hot country so smells do generate quicker. It passes quite quickly. Wasn’t something that bothered me. You can see the staff are constantly cleaning and emptying bins
So it is not a cleanliness issue.
Ants - Yep there are ants in the rooms. Not loads a few here and there. They didn’t bother me, just don’t leave food out. I haven’t been to another country and there not be some kind of insect inside (again it’s a hot country).
Air con worked well for us - we had a pool access room with garden view. Room is clean and exactly what we were expecting.
We found the food amazing. Absolutely loved the buffet for meal times. At no point did we find the food was left out or dried out but then we went early as we aren’t late eaters. There was a huge variety and a good mix of Greek and “home” foods. I ate loads of salad and olives. The desserts were just to die for. I don’t understand the complaint of having to queue for a drink…. It didn’t take longer than 2 mins. God forbid you have to stand in line for a minute to receive a drink. Staff were always filling up foods and taking plates away so nothing gets left for long.
The poolside bar is great. Yes you have to queue but again I don’t see an issue with this - literally didn’t take 2 mins. The drinks are good! I loved the local beer and the cocktails are lovely! Especially the margaritas!!! The food served at the pool bar is pizza, gyros and chips - perfect poolside snacks! If you want something healthy just grab a load of the fruit they have at the buffet!
I used the gym a couple times. Yes the times aren’t that convenient (10 till 18) however that is just personal preference as someone who likes to work out early - I just adjusted this and had my breakfast, a swim and then a workout - wasn’t an issue.
If you are looking for a relaxed resort which has impressive views, kinds staff, amazing food and entertainment you can dip in and out off then book this hotel! We spent a lot of time at the beach which is a two min walk. Always got a sun lounger. Our room was in the perfect location - we could sit outside on the terrace and listen to the live music (as a couple who don’t love crowds) this really suited us.
If I had one negative it would be the music at the pool bar is too loud but again that’s just personal preference.
Don’t be put off by reviews from those who clearly had insane expectations. I’ve stayed in 5 star hotels in the UK that weren’t as good as this hotel.
We stayed here for 10 days at the start of July 2026. I would first like to say this is a 3 star hotel not a 5 star hotel. First of all, the bedroom is not the best, only one mirror in the ‘Family bedroom for 4 people’ the The plug socket in the room they had 6 and only 1 worked. The A/C in the bedroom was good. The bar is absolutely terrible next to the poor. Because throughout the day there is only one bar to get drinks from and the queue was so long all the time. The food hall at dinner time and tea time…. The food was nice, different food for everyone’s tastes . But yet again you could not get your own fizzy drinks and beers you had to wait in a very long queue with your food and they only had 1/2 people working serving drinks. The A/C in the food hot was none existent. Then sitting outside with your food was very uncomfortable as there was not fans to cool you down and you had to wait a long time for water to be put at your table. The pool was shocking , the floor of the pool was coming apart, they had lots and lots of tiles on the pool floor coming off and they would get in your feet and cut them. They have a few different pools but they all have the same problem with the tiles coming off . The sunbeds are hit and miss, some of them are nice but some of them are a death trap, with bits of metal coming off them . Overall I think the hotel needs a lot of TLC. Definitely a 3 star hotel NOT a 5 star. Staff are lovely . Hotel is ok needs some good B&Q paint….. don’t book this hotel is you want a 5 star hotel, book this hotel if you want 3 star hotel.
Let’s start with the positives. The reception area feels luxurious and initially gives the impression that you are staying in a genuine five-star hotel. Our room was clean, and the swim-up pool was a lovely feature. Our air conditioning worked well, the staff were friendly, and the shared areas were kept clean.
Unfortunately, the negatives far outweighed the positives.
As several other guests have mentioned, there was an overwhelming smell of sewage. Raw sewage was running beneath the themed restaurant towards the hotel’s private beach. We witnessed other guests also raise concerns, but during our stay the hotel did nothing to resolve the issue, restrict access to the affected area, or even warn guests.
Adding to the sewage smell was the smell of cannabis being smoked by some guests near the children’s swimming pool, with many families with young children and babies in close proximity. While the hotel cannot control every guest’s behaviour, the situation was unpleasant.
The rooms are basic, with the minimum facilities provided. Guests are charged extra to use the safe and for tea and coffee-making facilities, which most 5 star resorts would include as standard.
During raising our complaints to the hotel and tour rep, I witnessed other guests complaining of leaking water pouring in their rooms, and others with similar maintenance issues of internal doors missing, broken showers, no air con and damaged patio furniture, one incident of a chair collapsing after a woman sat on it (size 10 - so not weight related).
The food was repetitive but pleasant enough, although it was often dry from being left under heat lamps for too long. The staff seemed increasingly overworked as the week went on and the hotel became busier.
There was no table service for drinks, resulting in long queues for tea and coffee in the morning and even longer queues for beverages in the evening. During the day, only one bar appeared to be serving drinks for the entire hotel, with just two members of staff trying to cope with the demand. This led to excessive queues and long waits.
The main pool areas were also poorly maintained and did not reflect the standard expected of a five-star resort or the images published on their website. The loud music played around the pool made it difficult to relax and added to the generally overcrowded and hectic atmosphere.
I understand star ratings are different throughout the world. If it had been advertised as a 3 star (or at a push 4 star due to spa and gym being present), I’d maybe be somewhat forgiving, but 5 star it definitely is not.
After reading many reviews re this hotel prior to our holiday I have to say I was very concerned at the standard of this hotel. I am glad to say our experience has been very positive and I do think guests have been very harsh in their reviews. We have stayed in a number of 5 star hotels in the Caribbean and no this hotel is not 5 stars in comparison. However I think people forget that 5 stars in Europe can be very different to 5 stars in the UK and in other countries. We arrived late in the evening we checked in quickly and where showed to our room. The room was basic but it was clean and comfortable, I had the best 7 nights sleep I have had for a long time. Housekeeping was amazing the rooms were cleaned to a high standard each day with clean towels provided. Due to our late arrival we had missed our evening meal, the hotel provided food for all late arriving guests, this was really appreciated after a long day of travelling.
The resort is large, with a number of pools, there might be the odd tile missing or a cracked flag but the staff where out every day cleaning the pools and making sure the pool area was clean and tidy.
The food was plentiful and varied even the fussiest of eaters would find something they liked. We found the drinks fine the cocktails are on tap which might not have suited every guest but there are lots of other drink options, the rose wine was really good not sure how people are leaving reviews to say the drinks are terrible.
Any staff we came into contact with were always happy to help and went above and beyond. The mosquitos are a bit nippy but that’s not the hotels fault, bring bug spray and you will be fine.
All in all we had a really enjoyable holiday, a holiday is what you make it if you want to look for faults you will find them which ever hotel you stay in!!
Great relaxing family holiday in a resort that is definitely on the way back up. The hotel was obviously once a really luxurious resort; it feels as though the hotel had been neglected for several years. Thankfully, the owners appear to be reinvesting in the fabric of the hotel, and it seems as though it will eventually be restored to its former beauty. In July 2026, we visited and enjoyed a really lovely week here. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and pleasant. We had a few challenges with our Air Con and had to move rooms. The experience was really well organised by the Rooms Division Manager and a super-friendly Room Porter - Constantin. The food was gorgeous, and every meal there was lots of choice. The pools were great, the little beach was sweet at the back of the hotel and a nice change of scenery. For a relaxed family holiday, this trip was perfect. We grabbed a taxi one evening and explored Lindos, which was very beautiful and well worth a visit. We enjoyed our time here, we would recommend the hotel - perhaps not 5-star at the moment, but it has all of the elements of a lovely holiday, and we made some lovely memories here.
