The pool, staff , location , facilities and overall feel is fabulous
My experiences of this hotel are mixed but overall I enjoyed my stay there and in Kolympia overall.
Our room was lovely with a nice sea view and balcony. It was very comfortable. Although we did find the air con a bit on the noisy side. We had to turn it off at night. Sometimes loud music could be heard from a nearby bar or hotel but that stopped soon after midnight. The cleaning staff were excellent and very efficient.
We stayed on a half board basis and had our meals in the main buffet restaurant. Breakfast was great with a good selection of fruit, cereals and cooked food. Our evening meals were good too with a wide selection of hot and cold food. Desserts were excellent. They looked good and tasted even better.
The staff were very efficient. They don't hang around. Once you've finished your food - whoooosh!!!!! your plate has gone. We had lots of Kalimeras and Kalisperas. The pianist is brilliant too.
The swimming pools are lovely. We preferred the smaller pool. It was quieter and deeper and the water just seemed more refreshing. We thought the bar staff were better there too. Getting sunbeds is hit and miss. The best time is in the morning but you can pick them up at anytime depending on your luck. The woman who deals with the pool towels is very helpful and will watch out for you if sunbeds become available. I wouldn't pay €20 to reserve one.
The beach by the hotel was a disappointing affair. There are sunbeds in abundance but to enter the water you have to walk over rocks and stones which I was unable to do. You might be OK if you have wet shoes. There are other beaches nearby. Kolympia beach is in walking distance or get a short bus ride to Tsambika beach. The sea water is crystal clear.
We spent our evenings out and about in Kolympia itself. Some nice shops and bars. We really enjoyed a cocktail bar there that sold a host of other beers and wines too. Can't remember its name unfortunately.
You can pick up buses on the road just outside the hotel. Good transport to Rhodes Town and to Lindos and other places. Bus to Rhodes Town costs €4 one way and the buses are comfortable and air conditioned.
The hotel throughout is kept very clean. The grounds and facilities are immaculate. There are hotel staff everywhere and they are kept busy.
This is a modern hotel run in a modern way - Apps for this and key cards for that. Whatever you do don't forget your key card as your legitimacy to get meals and other hotel services depends on it. As an older couple we didn't use the App that much.
I've used the word efficiency quite a bit because that is what it feels like. Everything seems to fit neatly into boxes. A well oiled engine. Everyone knows exactly what their job is and are kept on their toes. They are well drilled.
Overall we enjoyed our stay.
Basil’s makes the best cocktails! 😍🍸
From check-in to restaurant teams, poolside and resort staff all of them were exceptional, friendly but professional, welcoming and helpful…you couldn’t ask for any more really, a truly great team.
Start with the only real negative and it’s purely subjective, and that was the beach area. Although the beds are great and the best in the area along that shoreline, the beach itself isn’t great, naturally quite pebbly and dark sand so not great to spend time on…the water is beautiful, clean and perfect blue though, with good service from the team if you require when down at the beach.
We were lucky enough to book 9 days in one of the Beachfront Bungalows with a private pool, overlooking some amazing views of the ocean and beachside greenery; The room was beautifully laid out, well maintained and housekeeping was on point. There are a number of trees hanging over the pool area and by the end of the day, lots of sap and debris from the trees has fallen, however by the time you wake up, the pool man has been and cleared it ready for an early morning dip, so always pristine. The one downside to the pool area is purely a result of nature, and that’s the constant daytime noise of the Cicadas which at times exceeds 100d, although after a few days it does become white noise and poolside snoozing resumes.
Food wise, across the whole complex standard for us were very high, great buffet choices for breakfast and evening meals, the combined La Pasteria & Amira on the ground floor were great, but top choice for us was Cibus upstairs with a mix of Asian fusion, good music and live singing; The addition of the Lobster evening on Friday night was really good with the 5 step menu. We were on All Inclusive so some items were outside the package but plenty of choices to go for even though we did go for a fair few as additional supplements, but all top quality and presented really nicely.
We used the gym and spa a couple of times and have to say, the ladies and services in the spa were exceptional and very well priced. Highly recommend the massage and treatments.
The only constructive feedback on the hotel itself would be for some room information to be shared in the room we had. It took a bit to sort out lighting, outdoor plunge bath functions, and whether or not we were leaving our room open for cleaning or DND etc; We were misinformed about ‘please clean our room’ & ‘do not disturb’ instructions which we were told were on lights by the door, but after a day or two thinking we were going mad, found our bungalow didn’t have that as we found out after a visit from the handy man for a broken tv (dealt with very efficiently). I think the check in staff must have assumed it was one of the other rooms so a bit of slight confusion on our part but not major issue, just a slight niggle. Some local info would have been nice to have to hand in the room, as everything is driven through a hotel app that you’re given access to on arrival, sometimes it would be nice to get away from the phone, but unfortunately it’s the only source of information.
Really only very insignificant - and probably overly picky on our part - niggles, for feedback, on what was an exceptional stay at a beautiful resort, looked after by an amazing team end to end. We would happily return!
Thank you Sentido Port Royal team.
We had the best of experience at Port Royal Villas & Spa for my mother in laws 60th birthday. The resort is beautiful, ambient and calm - pure luxury. Our favourite part was spending our lunch and dinner times at the al a carte restaurant with Yota, her and her team looked after us so well and everything we ordered was delicious. A perfect holiday.
