Surrounded by palm and olive trees and a delightful garden area with four fountains, the attractive Golden Odyssey hotel complex comprises eight buildings on 25,000 m2, including a main building and various bungalows. It features a variety of excellent services and amenities such as a daily shuttle to one of the cleanest beaches of the island, which is about 950 m away. The centre of Kolymbia with numerous shops, restaurants, pubs and nightclubs can be reached within a short stroll. This hotel is ideal for guests wishing to spend a beach holiday in one of the nicest areas of Rhodes.
Dip into one of the 3 outdoor swimming pools or enjoy other recreational amenities including a water slide and an outdoor tennis court. Additional features at this property include wireless Internet access (surcharge), concierge services and an arcade/games room. The complimentary beach shuttle makes getting to the surf and sand a breeze.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We are nearly at the end of of our weeks stay. We stayed here 3 years ago and we have found it just as good. Food is good with a great selection! Pizzas are lovely on a night. We had a family room which slept 5 so for a family it was a decent sized room. Comfy beds and pillows. Sunbeds not an issue any time of the day. Staff friendly on the whole, one barman was beyond miserable! Bring your own plastic beaker as the plastic ones here are the equivalent of what you would get at the dentist for mouthwash! So bad the environment!! Things that could be improved-the glasses! The pool toilets behind the children’s arcade are grim and the doors don’t lock. If you want a glass from the bar at nighttime you have to pay for the first drink and then keep the glass for the duration of the holiday! Terrible lighting in the bathrooms.
The absolute highlight of this holiday was the service and restaurant team! Michael the restaurant manager and the team were brilliant with our toddler and took great care of us for the full 2 weeks. I managed to get the names of a few of the team members that took the time to talk with us and with our little one so thank you to Vicky, Snette, Rhonda, Mary, Deniza, Zoi & Noah, each of you made meal times fun and less stressful than we usually find with toddler that loves throwing everything around. The choice of food was a solid range every night and something for everyone. I dont eat pork but had lots of alternatives. Greek night was our favourite!
The hotel cats are lovely! We recommend picking up some treats to make friends with them.
The room was spacious and the maid service was great, it just needed some TLC, we reported issues to reception who were lovely and the house keeper came to look promptly each time but there was no light switch for the balcony light at all (they looked) the sink plug was broken and a the shower grab bar was a little loose. It didnt ruin our stay by any means just a an area for improvement . Also there's a ring of grime around the pool? The water itself is clean and we saw it being maintained but it needs a good scrub to remove the green line around the edges, it comes off if you catch your nails on it which isn't too nice.
Entertainment is a bit repetitive but when it's a family hotel aimed at kids that tends to be quite popular so they can learn the dances and join in. Even our toddler was picking it up by the end! 😊
Location is definitely helped by the shuttle bus to the beach but make sure you're not too tired for a 25 minute walk back if you miss the last one! Kolymbia itself is great because its in the middle of Lindos and Rhodes so you can see both and enjoy the beaches and little shops without going too far. If we visit this area again we will rent a car! We had to cancel an excursion after discovering public transport didn't actually go in the direction we were needing too and a taxi wouldn't be affordable. So if you dont drive be sure to plan ahead!
Overall we had a great stay and would consider coming back for the quality of service and the lovely staff. Everything else is an easy fix.
We booked Golden Odyssey for 7 nights for a very reasonable price last minute and were pleasantly surprised after reading some of the negative reviews.
The facilities are standard for what we paid for - there are multiple pools and plenty of sun beds though we didn't use these as there is a beautiful beach just a 20 minute walk down the road, to which the hotel also offers a free shuttle service. There is a bar at the beach and the sun loungers are free to use as well as clean toilets. The sea is very clear and there are boat trips etc available there.
The food, especially breakfast, was typical of an all inclusive buffet, though we did find the dinner always had something delicious to offer. We particularly enjoyed the stone baked pizza that was cooked fresh. The poolside snack bar was great and we preferred to get food from there instead of the lunch.
The staff were very friendly, especially in the restaurant and there was one bar man who knew our order after the first night and would have the cocktails ready poured for us before we even finished walking up to the bar.
Before 5pm there are only soft drinks, beers and wines on offer, this is probably the only real fault we could find with our stay but the rosé with a dash of lemonade made for pretty easy drinking.
We found the hotel to be very clean, the lobby toilets at the bottom of the stairs were exceptional for a hotel. Our beds were made daily and there is the option of clean towels should you need them. The only downside was that our TV was set to German and we couldn't work out how to change it. The air con worked well and was refreshing in the 34 degree heat. We did not get involved with any of the entertainment but there was aqua gym in the mornings then the likes of karaoke, bingo and greek music/dancing in the evenings.
There is a Water Park about a 30 minute drive away which we thoroughly enjoyed and a free bus that stops directly outside the hotel. Local amenities are about a 20 minute walk away, we strongly recommend Taverna Michel for a meal out and some cocktails.
Our flight back was late in the evening but there are lockers to keep your luggage at a cost of €2 and we were able to still use all the facilities throughout the day. All in all we greatly enjoyed our stay, particularly the two very affectionate kittens that came out by the pool area at night and enjoyed evening cuddles with us.
I have Just came back from this hotel , i was worried about the reviews and rightly so . As a single mother travelling with 2 children i was very disappointed to realise how rude and disinterested the reception staff were very unhelpful especially when arriving at our below average room to find the door wouldnt lock after speaking with reception and them not being able to rectify the issue , i was told to let my children go to breakfast on their own or leave the room door wide open whilst I wait for maintenance as it there was nothing they could do ! To be fair to them after an hour they did come and move our room due to not being able to get hold of maintenance. It however was a very disappointing start mainly due to the utter rudeness rather than the door itself.
The pool when we arrived looked green but I put that down to the time of day , however I did not see it being cleaned once in the 10 days I was there or around the outside of the pool . The loungers although plenty of them need to be replaced as they were also filthy . The other pools around the hotel did look cleaner in all fairness.
The restaurant staff were lovely but the food was awful in all honesty apart from 2 nights where it was half decent. The breakfast was shocking which it seemed they would chuck anything on it that was left from the night before peas /carrots etc . The pool bar again awful food it was a case of do you chips with your salt awful. I really dont expect to much from a pool bar but this was something else . All inclusive was an absolute joke ice creams not opened until 2 pm shuts at 5 Unless you like wine or beer which I dont you cant have an alcoholic beverage until after 5 which is not to bad however you have paid all inclusive.
The lady in the on site shop which was ridiculously expensive , was so rude and actually manhandled children out of there . I refused to step foot in there as it felt like you was an inconvenience if you were paying with cash so i did not bother .
The location was not what I expected but made the most of it without the help or information from the hotel staff and had found out more information from speaking to other guests .
The only good thing I can say about this hotel is some of the people I met there had it not been for them I would of got an earlier flight home and I am someone who can make.the best out of any situation . Demitri lovely , restaurant staff lovely and the entertainment staff lovely as for the rest of them nothing but utter arrogance who seem to think nothing is their problem I quote " what do you want me to do " which is the response other guests and I came across a lot .
To finish on a positive.. the weather was great !!
In arriving receptionist was welcoming, quick easy check in then straight to the room, there were so many ants it was crazy I mentioned it even videod it be be ignored, we sorted that but daily they came back more and more each time, towels were changed daily but room wasn’t swept or cleaned. Restaurant staff amazing welcoming, kind especially Noah and the two older gentlemen. Food was constantly the same though. But it’s all inclusive so can’t moan. One pool was green and slippy the other two were fine sometimes a smell of sewage but again it’s a big hotel it’s expected. In the lastnight there was a power cut to which then caused a ticking noise so I went to reception to be spoken to in a abrupt manner like I had caused the power cut it upset me because he was so rude and I was so tired we had managed zero sleep. The receptionist on 05/09/26 was rude and needs to learn customer communication skills. The bar staff one with the grey hair was ok and spoke the other was rude and I don’t think smiled the whole time we were there and when asking for a drink it was like we was asking for the world. Over all the hotel was clean just the ants and our dates rooms. Entertainment wasn’t great either could be better
