Cooks Club Kolymbia

This hotel is nothing but amazing! I went with my partner and we stayed for 8 nights and we had an amazing time. The location is perfect so quiet and a short 20/25 minute walk into centre Kolympia, which is lovely. Lots of bars and restaurants to choose from. The hotel itself is stunning! The scenery is beautiful and the atmosphere is just lovely. The rooms and very clean, we stayed in a deluxe double room which is perfect for a couple. Cleaners do an amazing job as our room got cleaned everyday. The value for money is very good. There are 3 restaurants in the hotel an Asian, Italian and the main cantina restaurant. The food is delicious we didn’t have one bad meal, our favourite was the Asian restaurant this was lovely. Great value for money in the restaurant as the portions are huge! Massive shoutout to all of the staff every single one of them are so polite and lovely and will do anything to help you and make your stay memorable. We would recommend this hotel to anyone! One of the best holidays we’ve had. We will definitely be returning!

Had a really poor experience at this hotel.

Firstly, the room was absolutely vile. I genuinely don’t think it had been properly cleaned since the hotel opened. There were clumps of dust and hair everywhere, marks all over the walls, and the bathroom was filthy – and that’s only scratching the surface.

From the very first night, the room also had a disgusting sewage smell. Every time we left and came back, the smell would hit you in the face as soon as you walked through the door.

During our stay, we then had a problem with ants in the room. They were everywhere – in the bathroom, running around the bedroom, on the bedside tables, literally all over the room.

I went to reception to request a room change because the room was genuinely disgusting and I felt unclean staying in it, but the staff were completely unhelpful. I was told the hotel was at full capacity, so instead they said someone from housekeeping could come and spray bug spray and clean the room.

When the housekeeper arrived, she sprayed the areas I pointed out but, when I politely asked if she could clean the room, she simply shook her head, waved her arms around, and muttered under her breath before leaving. She was incredibly rude, and that interaction was a whole other issue in itself. It just added to the growing list of problems.

To make matters worse, housekeeping was very poor throughout our stay. Despite there being a sign you could put on the door to request your room be cleaned, on most days it was simply ignored. My boyfriend actually had to go and find the housekeeper himself and personally ask for the room to be cleaned. Even then, all she would usually do was replace the towels and leave without even making the bed or properly cleaning the room.

The hotel as a whole was very poorly maintained. The pools were dirty and looked unhygienic, which reflected the overall standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel.

The only positive thing I can genuinely say is that the cantina staff were lovely. They were friendly, polite, and welcoming throughout our stay. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the rest of the staff.

Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience. Between the filthy room, the sewage smell, the ants, the poor housekeeping, the rude staff, and the lack of any real effort to resolve the issues, I would not recommend staying here.

We stayed in room 700 and something, near the main pool. If we weren’t up and by the pool by 8am all the sun loungers were taken. Several complaints were lodged by customers but nothing was done about it. Not what you expect for a 5*. On some days we had to go for breakfast separately to ensure we didn’t lose our beds. We had a car so we could explore beaches but spent a fortune on loungers because we couldn’t get round the main pool. The hotel advertised itself as a “music” hotel and the staff bless them, they tried their hardest to get people involved but because of the drinks prices no one was drinking (€7 for a 400ml beer) Unfortunately if you have a room near the main pool your sleep is going to be disturbed because of the speakers placed directly outside and the music plays until 1am. This is fine if the hotel could “pull off” their party ethos but most nights the entertainment was playing to people playing cards and not engaging, in addition they have music blasting every night so don’t expect to get to bed early if you stay in any of the 3 blocks around the main pool. The rooms aren’t soundproofed either, they literally shake with the bass. The rooms were simple and modern, no issues, our standard room was small and had a balcony looking onto the grass but the sprinklers did get you at times. The hotel is located about 20 mins walk from the town centre, other than that there isn’t much about - hire a car from the airport you will need it and it’s much cheaper, everyone was hiring a car. The local strip had some nice traditional restaurants but apart from that you will have to travel out of area to have a good time. We went for the B&b option, breakfast was okay but not 5 star having stayed in several 5 star hotels across the globe I would say the cooks club is more of a 4 star. The food around the pool was good, we didn’t try the restaurants as they didn’t do any traditional Greek food and that’s what we wanted. Michael’s bar an 2 min walk away offered traditional food which was great. Overall more of a instagram hotel than a 5 star. Chose another.
