Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Very busy bar, well work under pressure. Thanks to the lovely staff for amazing drinks, my son loves the mocktails. Especially for Tasos and Jespoina, for looking after us.
Unfortunately I had a very poor to average stay recently at Virginia Family resort with my family. Just some points below from our experience.
Some positive points:
Overall I'm sorry to say I would not be returning.
The hotel and atmosphere was great but Tasos and Despoina, we’re both top shelf, went above and beyond, both such lovely people, cannot recommend them both more, if you stay here you will be well looked after by these two, they have made holiday so much better!
Our room was cleaned daily by the lovely Anna who always had a smile on her face. And always spoke. Dining room staff were very friendly as well . Tho some of the food left something to be desired . I really enjoyed the Asian night and Mexican night. The top pool was great. But the 3 pools our room looked onto didn't look very good you couldn't see the bottom of any off them and we were told by another guest that the lining was coming away and there was bubbles underneath it. In 1 of the pools . So we never used them. The lifeguard at the top pool didn't really monitor the slide properly as quite a few times groups of teenagers would go on it 1 at a time but stop so far down and wait for their friends to join them then all come down together not thinking to check if there was anyone near the bottom. We also had poohgate someone had done one in the pooland they were asking everyone to get out the pool and stay out for 2 hours. We went back to our room to get ready for dinner. And my hubby went out onto our balcony and said they had let people back in the pool. As for the animation team there were 2 guys Fabio and Mike. Fabio seemed to just play music for the aqua gym whilst Mike did the exercises his sessions were great all about fun . Fabio took a session 1 day and it was all slow movements no fun at all. And on the evenings Fabio played the music whilst . Mike did the mini disco . The hotel had some acts come and play music or sing outside thr front of the bar. I would like to say a special thank you to Nathalie on the desk she was amazing helping us get our granddaughter 's phone back . She had left it amongst some clothes in the H & M store in Rhodes. And when we went back the same day they said it hadn't been handed in. We went again on the Saturday after visiting the old town but the store was closed. I did try to ring the store but got an automated voice Iin greek. So I asked Nathalie for help. She rang the store and was told it was there . Buses to Rhodes run from the stop on the main road at the bottom of the small hill from the hotel .the price is 2€ for adults and 1€ for kids upto 10. All in a fairly good holiday.
Where do I start!!
I will just start with AVOID - DO NOT BOOK AND LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE
We have never been on holiday and wanted to come home! If we didn’t have the private pool with our room I would have!
We are a family of 3 me (35) my husband (39) and my 11 year old son. We travelled on 8th August to Virginia family resort for 10 nights. We flew with easyJet for the first time and honestly cannot fault check in, flights and transfer. It all went down hill when we arrived at the hotel.
We walked to reception which was empty and there was 2 people behind desk they took about 30 seconds to speak to us. They asked for booking name and then put some wrist bands on us. Took our passports and said leave ur passports here and your cases and go get some food before it closes (closed at 11pm) I wasn’t happy just leaving our cases at front desk with people coming in and out but we was hungry so we went to get some food. Walked into the dining hall and all that was there was soup and stale cake. Who wants to eat soup after a long day travelling. We knew from then that it was going to be terrible. We went back to reception for them to give us our card for the room. Receptionist said come back in morning to get a leaflet on meal times and where everything is. When I have gone to hotels in past they show you where everything is and give you information on everything for hotel there and then. I didn’t even know what time breakfast was completely forgot to ask when I left reception. They got a young boy to help us show us where the room was, he did help with our cases.
We got to our room and it was very basic. Double bed and a single bed which was hard as nails for my son. The air con was only set at 24 degrees you could not adjust this! They only had 2 plugs in the whole room so we could only charge 2 phones at night! Only had one mirror in bedroom by dressing table but no chair to sit and do make up and if your a women you will understand you need a long mirror for when getting ready at night they don’t have one! The bathroom was nice until we seen loads of ants everywhere coming out the plug hole we had to move our toothbrushes out. Ants was also behind our suitcases, my husband had to get a towel to scope them up and shake towel outside front door. The cleaners only really changed the towels daily and wipe down mirrors. The sides were full of dust and the floor was disgusting! We had a private pool which was a god send, but the pool side was dirty and never cleaned! No space for clothes we were living out the suitcases which we have never done on any holidays we have been on. Walls are very thin and if you are on bottom floor then don’t expect sleep as you can hear every movement from people above you! Only good thing was the fridge as we could put drinks and chocolate in.
The food was disgusting!! We expect all inclusive to be slightly repetitive but this was a joke as it was the same rubbish every night with just a few things that was different that the chefs was cooking. My son was living on chips and ice cream as there was next to nothing for child to choice from, nuggets and fish fingers was always over cooked and rock hard. This was on both lunch time and dinner times. We also had to queue for pancakes every morning as there was not enough staff for the amount of people that was at the hotel. We never ate in dining hall for breakfast as it was always busy and no free tables. We took breakfast back to our room. One evening we went for dinner it was at 7.30 and we had to queue to get in. They put us on a table for 2 people and the table was covered with ants and dirty cutlery and table was not cleaned! One lunch time we was getting food and I nearly done the splits as there was sauce all over the floor I had to hold onto someone to make sure I never fell. I told the staff and it was like an effort.
Don’t even get me started on the drinks. The bar by reception was always a queue with 2 people working slowly and the bar by the pool was 1 person and always about 20 people deep! Then when we did eventually get a drink the cocktails was very sickly as to much syrup in, soft drinks was either soda water and no syrup or they was just cheap and nasty like rola cola. Wine was like dishwater, beer was horrible. We spent all our holiday spending money at the onsite supermarket getting drinks and food.
The staff at the hotel I don’t think I come across one person that was friendly and helpful! One day I needed assistance and the women at reception rolled her eyes at me and went off to speak to someone in Greek. I couldn’t believe it! The bar staff just filled up the drinks halfway and left them instead of passing them to you. When we wanted the tables cleaned we asked the staff and it was like an effort again! Then when we checked out they asked for room number and said thank you bye, not even said have a safe flight, how was your stay or anything else I can help you with. Nothing!
We never once went to the main pool as there was no sunbeds ever available and when there was ones available they was broken. The pool side was absolutely heaving! The slide my son never went on once cause there was always a queue and kids was pushing in and going down together it was just dangerous!
The hotel is literally in the middle of nowhere. When you see a 4 star hotel all inclusive by the beach you don’t really need to go out but this wasn’t the case! The beach was lovely but a very steep hill to go down and up. We went to a restaurant about 10 minute walk away called Christos family taverna it was absolutely beautiful lovely family that runs it. We ate there 4 times. We went to Rhodes old town a few times that was stunning defo worth a visit! We booked a taxi through the hotel and it was €20 for 10 minute drive and then we got a private one back and it was €15.
We both work hard all year round for a nice family holiday and this year it was ruined by this hotel!
I am not the kind of person who moans , honestly I’m not but I can not help it with this hotel. I have never been on holiday and had a bad experience like this!
