So my wife, two children aged 15 and 11 and myself stayed at this hotel with my sister and brother in law and their two girls in August. We are very well traveled and I can honestly say this was the stand out BEST hotel we have ever stayed in. So clean and tidy. The food in all the restaurants was absolutely amazing, perfectly cooked food and the choice was supreme with different offerings for all of our stay. What made this work was the maitre’d called TEO. TEO was so diligent and always found a table of 8 for us to sit together. I can honestly say that he made the dining experience unforgettable. A very experienced team member that was the shining star by a country mile. Thoroughly nice, pleasant, polite and funny guy. Thank you TEO.
We went to virginia family resort a for 10 nights and the feeling after leaving is very mixed. there were some excellent things about the hotel, however unfortunately some not so good things. To start with the good, we all thought the food was absolutely excellent with lots of variety at all of breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition a select few of the staff were absolutely exceptional and made us feel really welcomed, special shout out to Teo and the young lady on the bar with dark curly hair who unfortunately we didn’t get her name. The restaurants in the hotel were brilliant, there was a greek, Italian and Asian restaurant all of which provided great cultural food as well as great service for the staff working on the days we went to the restaurants. Like i said previously the feeling was very mixed with the hotel as the hotel had some positives as well as some negatives. Going on to the negatives, there would’ve often be large queues at the bar with only one person working during busy periods while often other staff were stood around chatting. After waiting in large queues you would then be told you could only get 2 drinks which is something that i have never experienced in a all inclusive hotel before. Drinks options were standard with local beer and wine on offer, as well house spirits, there was a few different cocktails on offer, however for me were very sweet and sickly, however that is just personal preference. Rooms were standard, however upon check in into the hotel we were told that our room was ‘upgraded’ but to then later find out that the room we originally paid for was a lot more spacious and overall a much better room. Once we raised this with reception, a certain staff member which i believe is a supervisor seemed very hesitant to move us back to our original room, stating that it was not possible and that the room we was upgraded to was the most recently refurbished rooms and by that she means that they had nicer wall paper, that’s it. After countless visits to reception there were a few very helpful staff that helped resolve the issue and ensured that me, my husband and two boys got the original, more spacious room that we paid for. And to add to this issue that we have encountered we also spoke to a few different people that we had met around the hotel who also said that they felt a type of way about there room. Due to large wait times at the bar, we often found ourselves spending money in the on sight supermarket. In terms of entertainment there were a few things round the pool during the day including aquarobics and water polo. although we didn’t make use of it for our kids but there was a kids club but obviously can’t comment on how good that was as we didn’t use it. there is a large amphitheater outside which you would only assume is for evening entertainment however there was absolutely nothing. during our weeks stay we saw two singer groups on the front bar terrace which were both quite good. main pool area is nice with a close bar and toilets and an all round nice atmosphere, with there also being a water slide which kids loved. the two smaller pool in a different area were a lot different, had nicer padded sunbeds which were nicer, however pool seemed quite murky and unkept. Hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the beach, which has two beach bars, however there are no chairs at the bars and it comes at a 30 euro cost to use one of the sunbeds on the beach. about at 12 minute walk from the hotel there is a few restaurants and sports bars which were nice to visit a few times. If i’m honest i’m not usually someone who comes home and writes a review on a hotel but there were just a few things about this hotel that i wanted to point out to people if they are considering visiting. I do believe with a few minor changes that the hotel can be excellent but whether them changes are made is another thing.

We stayed at Virginia Family Resort in Rhodes at the end of August 2026. After I booked it I read the reviews about the food and the pool and travelled deciding that whatever it was like, we would make the best of it. And we did. However, I wouldn’t rebook.
Our room was comfortable and clean. The cleaners did not always replace the toilet roll which meant we ran out a few times and had to go and find someone to ask for more.
The walls in the hotel must be very thin because once the first person on your floor is up, you’re all up. Don’t come here hoping for a lay in. Between the cleaners chatting noisily and clattering their mops, buckets and cleaning equipment around outside our room from 8:30am - rest was not something we got much of. Also listening to another guest cough up a lung/ clear the mucus off their chest every morning for a week is not the way I’d choose to wake up.
The pool area was clean and the water was cold but we didn’t arrive expecting a heated pool in a hot country. The weather was beautiful and we were glad of the cold water in the pool to cool off.
One guest was smoking in the pool using a paper coffee cup as an ashtray but once the staff asked him not to it didn’t happen again that we saw.
The staff on reception were always friendly and helpful. The taxi driver they arranged from the hotel for us was on time and reliable. Even when we had to rearrange one taxi and he arrived at 8am on the dot to collect us.
There are two bus stops a short walk down the road from the hotel so it was easy to get in and out of Rhodes. The local bus was only €2 each way and took about 15/20 minutes.
There is also a lovely beach about a five minute walk from the hotel. The supermarket is well stocked and opens till late which was handy for things like sun cream and snacks.
The food. This was my first time going All Inclusive and after this experience it will be my last. The food was awful. And it was the same awful food every day for seven days. We ended up eating at Christos Family Taverna just down the road which did beautiful food at a reasonable price.
We didn’t expect brand name alcohol but whether the cocktails were drinkable very much depended on who was mixing it. I drank one that tasted exactly like Benylin and did think of recommending it to the man with the chesty cough on our floor.
It’s not a 4star hotel. The food is awful. But the pool and the staff are lovely.

The food situation wasn't great, not much for kids or vegetarians. There was pizza but you had to often wait 5/10mins for them to come out as they would go so fast and sometimes a vegetarian pizza would be even longer wait.
The self serve soft drinks at both the snack bar and the restaurant were often our of flavour, so the lemonade just tasted like soda water 9/10 times.
The entertainment was by FAR the worst I've ever seen at a hotel... there basically was none bar 1 night of Greek dancing. The rest was "family quiz" which was terrible (though the staff worked hard to try make this as good as it could be with the equipment they had bless them)
The slide was fine when no staff were manning it, but there was constantly a girl on there that was more interested in her phone than letting people up, so ages would go by with nobody going on the slide and a huge queue forming.
We had ants on my daughters best most nights, usually 2 every singe evening.
The entertainment was the main let down, I've never been to a hotel with practically no entertainment and we definitely wouldn't have booked if we'd known. Though we still managed to have a good holiday, we wouldn't return to this hotel due to the food, drinks, and entertainment.
