Billy Nabilly, Shelley and all the animation team are by far the best team we have ever experienced! So much so, that we have been back to see them 3 times (2022,2023 & this year 2026) . The cannot ever do too much for you. Keeping the children and adults happy for your entire stay. Billy is multilingual, helping to engage with all guests. Sunshine is the place it is because of Billy, Shelley, Lucas and the team here.
We love you guys. Love Neil, Katie, Ethan & Ava xx 💙💙💙
1 star hôtel for us, telling it’s a 4 stars. No cleaning room, towels yellow and not White because they don’t wash it every day, all inclusive with bad alcohol, coca sprite and fanta with too much sugar,
Horrible hotel, all inclusive is bad, service cleaning is horrible, yellow towels, local alcohol horrible, drinks with too much sugar
I feel some of the reviews for Sunshine Rhodes are a little harsh overall. Yes, the rooms are old and definitely feel outdated by today’s standards, but if you take the hotel for what it is and balance that against what you’ve paid, there is actually a lot to like.
The biggest negatives for us were the housekeeping. Our towels weren’t changed unless we rang reception and asked, sometimes several times, and during our week-long stay the room wasn’t really cleaned. The beds were made loosely each day, but that was about it.
There are four pools, including a brand-new pool just across the road from the hotel — genuinely about five steps away. This one is lovely: very clean, modern and much quieter. The main pool is much busier and has activities going on throughout the day, which both children and adults seemed to really enjoy. The entertainment team run something every few hours. If that isn’t your thing, there are three other pools where you can simply relax.
The two main pools could definitely be cleaner. There was a noticeable layer of sunscreen residue around the edges, although they were cleaned every morning and it was peak summer with lots of people using them. The quieter pools were much cleaner. One thing to be aware of is that the main pools did turn our white swimwear yellow, so I wouldn’t wear anything precious in them!
That said, the snack bar around the pool is really nice, the bar staff are attentive and we never struggled to get sunbeds — there were always plenty available.
The beach is probably one of the biggest positives. It is beautiful, particularly the sea, and it is literally steps from the hotel. Being able to walk straight from the hotel onto the beach was lovely.
We also really enjoyed the food. It was fresh, there was plenty of choice, and the dining-room staff were constantly clearing tables and keeping everything clean and tidy.
The location is another big plus. The town, bars and shops are right on the doorstep and it’s a lovely area to wander around.
Overall, we had a nice stay. Sunshine Rhodes certainly isn’t a brand-new luxury hotel and there are areas that need updating and improving, particularly the rooms and housekeeping, but I genuinely think it is better than many of the reviews suggest. If you go with realistic expectations and take into account what you’ve paid, there are lots of positives — especially the pools, beach, location, food and availability of sunbeds.
This is our third time staying at the sunshine rhodes hotel. We always have a lovely time. The staff are very friendly and always go above and beyond to help. Frosso on the pool bar always has a big smile and looks after us. The animation team work so hard with all the entertainment and make sure everybody has a good time. They are all great, but Billy is particular is fantastic!
