Faliraki

The resort is named after the dama-dama deer that lives on the island since antiquity and its marble idols stand proud on famous Rhodes harbour. Dama Dama lies on famous Faliraki beach & features sun-filled public spaces, a 100-meter pool & gardens with bungalows framed by a vast beach line. Just 16 km from Rhodes airport and 12 km from Rhodes Town.

Pool bar staff - Angelo

We have just returned from an amazing stay at Grecotel Rhodes, and I wanted to give a very special shout-out to Angelo, who works around the pool bars.

From the moment we arrived, Angelo made our holiday extra special. Every day he brought around fresh fruit, regularly checked whether we wanted any drinks, cleared away empty glasses and plates promptly, and always made sure everyone was looked after.

He is incredibly friendly, polite, and knowledgeable, and nothing is ever too much trouble for him. He works tirelessly and effortlessly in the heat, always with a genuine smile on his face and a positive attitude. His exceptional customer service and attention to detail really stood out and made such a difference to our stay.

The hotel itself is beautiful, but it’s staff like Angelo who make guests want to return. He is a real credit to Grecotel, and I hope he receives the recognition he truly deserves.

Thank you, Angelo, for helping make our holiday so memorable!

Major disappointment

We are currently staying at Grecotel LUXME Dama Dama, and unfortunately it has been a major disappointment.

The biggest issue is that this hotel simply does not feel like a modern 5-star luxury resort. The rooms are extremely outdated, with interiors that resemble a holiday resort from the 1980s rather than a premium property. The hallways and common areas are old, poorly maintained, and there is no air conditioning in many of the indoor public spaces, making them very uncomfortable during the summer heat.

The food is decent but far from exceptional. Based on what we’ve tried so far, I would rate it around 7–7.5/10. There is enough variety, but the quality doesn’t stand out compared to other luxury all-inclusive resorts.

The biggest disappointment, however, is the beach. If you’re traveling with young children, be aware that the beach is not child-friendly. The shoreline is covered with uncomfortable stones, making it difficult and painful for little kids to even walk into the water. Despite some descriptions suggesting a sandy beach, that has not been our experience. The sea also becomes deep relatively quickly, so it lacks the long, shallow entry that families with toddlers usually look for.

Overall, the hotel does not live up to the expectations created by its photos and branding. While the staff have been pleasant and the resort has some positive aspects, the outdated facilities and unsuitable beach significantly affected our holiday. If your priorities are a modern luxury hotel and a soft sandy beach with shallow water for children, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Dama Dama - Fantastic hotel and staff ❤️

Just arrived home from 10 days at Dama Dama. This was our first time at a Grecotel and we would 100% go back and also try other hotels in their LUXME range

we had a superior double room with side seaview, we also had an additional bed for our daughter, yes the room was not one of their newer rooms however it was absolutely fine, plenty of space and storage, mini bar re stocked daily and lovely toiletries to use.

in terms of dining, the buffet restaurant is great its clean, not to chaotic and has loads of options, the restaurants were all lovely the greek and the rose were our favourites.

beach bar was lovely you could use this as another lunch option and always had gyros, salads, fruits pastas etc. it double up as the greek in the evening and also at night you can have drinks down there as well.

pool was lovely always clean fresh cool water, been to hotels before where by the end of the day the pool was like warm soup and you couldnt even see in it, however the pools here are really well looked after. there were plenty of beds available until around 9.30ish and there were attendants removing towels if beds were left unoccupied. there were also plenty of beds on the beach and the grass areas, however i can imagine it gets busier over the height of summer holidays. they do have big bali beds that you can rent for 50euros a day, personally i would get rid of these and just have more normal sunbeds especially for when it gets busier.

pool bar is great and some of the staff also come round and take drink orders to your beds which is good!

the entertainment team are all lovely big shout out to dimitiri and the rest of the team there is always something going on you can get involved in. for adults and kids. in the evenings they have a little kids disco in ampitheatre area and then sometimes an act. as we had older teenagers with us we used to head to the beach bar, there were always a band, or djs or something going on there which was good.

ALL of the staff were lovely we never met anyone who wasnt smiling happy or polite! a shout out to the lovely girls and boys at the pool bar and beach bar! also monica on the main lobby bar she was lovely! also if you get a chance do the cocktail making class with dennis from the lobby bar and the lovely lady who was the sommelier ( i cant remember her name!) it was really good fun.

would definitely recommend dama dama ❤️

What an excellent experience!

After travelling since 3am the arrival at Rhodes airport was a nightmare be warned to take some water on the plane as the wait for passport security took nearly 2 1/2hrs! The same when you’re leaving Rhodes-get some water in duty free as there is a second passport security check before you get to your boarding gate and the queues were horrendous! On to the hotel….. wow! The best hotel I have ever been to was Secrets Akumal in Mexico but this hotel came a close second… the reception staff especially, I think her name was Fontini, were fabulous. I had travelled as a single person within a party of 11 (for a wedding). Everyone had been allocated rooms in the annex building but I was allocated a family room (406) in the main building. I asked to be moved as I felt the room would be wasted on 1person so was moved to the annex (room 535), within 20 minutes, to be nearer to everyone else and as the Mother of the Bride I didn’t want to be isolated. Room 535 was lovely, on the ground floor overlooking a pool and the children’s pool. I didn’t hear lots of noise from either pools and it was very peaceful. In fact it was probably the biggest room out of all the other rooms allocated to the rest of our party and therefore used for getting ready for the wedding. The breakfast and evening buffet was lovely, such choices of food and plenty of it! You need to check in at the entrance to the buffet and give your room number and how many people you would be dining with and they would find a table either inside or out of the restaurant. I preferred to sit inside as it was air conditioned. We also went to the Greek à la cart which was located near the beach bar and sampled lots of Greek dishes which I’d never had before, again plenty of food and wine. Other members of our party went to the other à la cartes and thoroughly enjoyed them … All the staff were very friendly wherever you went within the hotel grounds, smiley and attentive. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. On the days I had lunch I went to the beach bar for it but having had a huge breakfast it wasn’t always necessary to have lunch and if you felt peckish during the day there were freshly made crepes and ice cream available. There is a poolside bar available and the staff worked very hard there so there was never a huge queue of people waiting in the sunshine. The pool was a main factor for me as it was a walk in pool and not too deep. The entertainment team did not pressurise anyone to join in but always made time to come and chat and tell you what was going on. A special mention goes to Ada who had only recently joined the team and was very friendly whenever she saw us -lovely girl who will be an asset to the team I think! I loved the fact that there were pool towels and so had more space in my suitcase not having to take one. The sunbeds were a bit low for me but there were red and gold sunbeds which were a bit higher (maybe that’s something that could be addressed for older and less abled guests?) There were also deckchairs… The week we were there was very busy and we did get up early to get sunbeds (around 7:30) we took the towels we had used the day before to reserve beds also putting personal items on them (eg books/tshirts etc) whilst we had breakfast. I did note that if the beds had been reserved with just the hotel towels they were removed. After breakfast and when the towel guy arrived we just swapped the towels for clean ones. I only took a stroll along the beach once or twice as the beach was very shingle so if you’re a beach person take some water shoes! The beach was very clean and the sea looked quite inviting but I only paddled. The wedding wasn’t at the hotel but the staff were just as excited for the bride and groom and I had taken some balloons and banners which they used to decorate their room as a surprise for them. The evening entertainment was at the beach bar and after the wedding when we returned, there was an ABBA tribute band which we all went to and had a fabulous time. Take a trip to Rhodes Old Town so quaint! The hotel booked us a taxi €28 for 4 of us a bit more if there’s more people going but worth it and a beautiful place to visit. You can also take a bus if you want to just outside the hotel but as there were several of us going out to explore we used the taxis. The whole week was a great success and the bride and groom stayed for an extra week and the reports I’ve had from them have been that they made the right choice deciding to get married in Rhodes and stay at this hotel. A big thank you to all the staff for such a wonderful time😊
