Pool

We have just finished a week here at Cyprotel Faliraki and come away disappointed. Like many other reviews we would suggest that this hotel is not of a 4* standard, especially having visited other 4* hotels in Rhodes. Please find below a summary of our pros and cons.

Pros:
-Reception staff helpful
-Water slides and pools are good. They were cleaned during our stay.
-Food was hot/warm
-Places for drinks/food easily accessible 
-Free towels for the pool from reception (although only 1 each per week)
-Location for trips and visiting Faliraki 
-Selection of cocktails from bars
-Some staff great and work really hard (bar staff, table cleaners)
-Room cleaning daily 

Cons:
FOOD
-Lack of variety (same or very similar) everyday
-Poor choice of desserts 
-Extremely slow to refill empty food options 
-Same with drink machines (slow to refill) leading to lack of options 
-Cocktails weak
ROOMS
-Basic with damaged tiles, walls and furniture 
-Bathroom drain leaks when showering leading to bathroom flooding 
-Lack of hot water when showering at peak times
-shower head cracked and not fixed despite reporting as well as leaking shower hose (in both rooms)
HOTEL GROUNDS/OTHER
-Not enough sunbeds, those there are of extremely poor quality and mismatched 
-Pool areas (and sunbeds) are muddy due to mud and grass surrounding pools 
-No-one seemed to clean the pool areas (fag butts and litter across the grounds with no-one picking it up) and again increased over the week
-Stairs in our room block were not cleaned the whole week we were there. Sticky drink marks across the staircase gradually increased over the course of the week.
-Chlorine levels in the pool were high (don't wear white)
-Very loud during the day and night (loud music in pool areas, shouting guests during the night, evening entertainment very loud if u don't want to attend you can still hear it.

Summary:
This hotel may suit some people, however it was not of a 4* standard and we came away disappointed and would not return to this hotel. 

Disappointed 

Such a disappointment. When we first got to our room it was full of gnats, with dirty marks on walls and stained bedding. Dirty and mouldy shower curtain in the tiny bathroom, no space for toiletries or even a hand towel rail. 

There was clearly an issue somewhere with sickness. We heard of so many people (mainly kids) be sick. And saw it with my own eyes round the pool and in the restaurant. My son didn’t leave the room on his 11th birthday as he was so poorly and sick all day. 

Cleaners changed bedding and put more stained bedding on.  Standard of cleanliness was really poor. Not just in the room but throughout the hotel as well. 

Food was so bad. Cold chips, repetitive, not enough choice, flies all over the food,  had to ask for cereal bowls, cutlery and coffee cups on multiple occasions. Had to wait around as they couldn’t fill them quick enough. Standard of food was really poor.  The snack bar was even worse. Drinks weren’t much better either. The wine was awful. 

Kids areas are shocking.  The entertainment team didn’t turn up to the activities on the programme. 2 of the dads took charge of the football one day as everyone was standing around waiting.  Smell of sewage in this area of the hotel was unbearable.  Broken tennis rackets given to play tennis and the ball had a hole in so couldn’t bounce. 

Rooms definitely need to be updated, but this hotel could be so much better, the grounds are nice, in a nice location, but the standards are just not there. General hygiene and cleanliness need to be improved throughout including pool areas.  Also broken sun beds and ants/flying ants around the small pool. Waterpark was much better though.

Worst hotel we have stayed in

Booking in at reception seamlessly the room was very clean and spacious we were overlooking the water park which was very nice.The rooms were cleaned daily. The complex was clean and the staff were very friendly throughout. The lifeguard in the main pool was friendly and very helpful he was the go too man .Bar  staff very friendly and drinks  ok. Food  and snack bar started really well but began to go downhill as things were shutting down .Snack bar closed  2 days before our departure and one bar closed.Food became very poor quality not much selection. On our last day of departure only given continental breakfast  no lunch provided and all the hotel closed at 3 pm and we were not being picked up until 20 :35 . This is  unexpectable as we paid for a 7 day all inclusive holiday and were not informed prior that the hotel was shutting on the day of our departure on the 31/10.

Good and bad

We arrived at the Cyprotel Faliraki on October 19th for a 10-day stay, meeting with family and friends who were already there and some who came later. In total, there were 26 of us.

I will list the positives and negatives below.

**Positives:**
- The entertainment team was excellent.
- Breakfast was enjoyable (though there were no omelettes).
- The snack bar was convenient.
- The pools and water slides were great.

**Negatives:**
- The evening food was cold and unappetizing.
- The drinks were of poor quality.
- The rooms were not cleaned properly, and the sheets had stains.
- The bathroom was small, and the drain had a sewage smell.

Summary of the holiday.

I always believe a holiday is what you make it and always take out the positives as much as you can, and all family and friends on this holiday did just that. We took advantage of the pools and the water slides, and I enjoyed the breakfast, especially every other day when they would make pancakes. The children in the group looked forward to those days. The snack bar was good and had a good selection and ice cream. I thought the food at the snack bar was hotter than the evening food and lovely doughnuts made fresh from 14:00, and we all looked forward to them and would eat them back at the pool. And I have left the best until last. The entertainment team made the holiday for us as we interacted with them, especially the aqua gym, which we all tried to join in and have as much fun as possible. 

During my stay at Cyprotel Faliraki, I encountered significant issues that must be addressed. The evening meals were chaotic, which was surprising given that we were visiting at the end of the high season. I had read reviews mentioning that we often had to wait for cutlery and plates, severely impacting our dining experience. As a result, the food was frequently served at varying temperatures—either warm or cold, depending on how long it had been sitting out. Over my 10-day stay, I only found about three satisfactory meals. I returned for more of those specific dishes, and considering I'm not a fussy eater, this was unacceptable and quite disappointing. Changes are necessary to enhance the dining experience for future guests. 
On several occasions, we were forced to return our drinks due to their poor taste, which was clearly due to the syrup tap needing replacement. We were also frustrated to find out that they had run out of vodka and gin and substituted them with different spirits without prior notice. This lack of communication is unacceptable.
The rooms are very basic, which is fine for a holiday since I prefer to spend more time outside of them. However, the cleaning service was inadequate. For example, one morning, we stepped out for just 15 minutes because my wife wasn’t feeling well, and when we returned, the room had supposedly been cleaned. However, it was clear that all they did was make the bed.

I have included pictures to demonstrate the issues we encountered. There was a hole in my bed sheet that was there upon our arrival and remained by the time we checked out. Moreover, the bottom sheet had an unsightly stain, and the condition of the bathroom shower curtain was unacceptable—look at the pictures.

The most concerning issue was the drain in the bathroom. It emitted a foul sewage smell that permeated the entire room, forcing us to cover it with a towel to block the odour. This level of cleanliness is not acceptable for any accommodation.

We all agreed that we had a great time, thanks to our ability to enjoy the experience and stay positive. Nevertheless, our family and friends clearly stated that they would not return to Cyprotel Faliraki without substantial improvements. The rating should be revised to no more than 3 stars.

Could be so much better.

Featuring 3 swimming pools, 2 children pools and water park facilities, Cyprotel Faliraki is only a 15-minute walk from the centre of Faliraki.
