Sentido Asterias Beach Resort

Hiya. I’d like to share some feedback from our recent holiday

As you know we came last year and really loved the place and enjoyed our holiday so much we decided to rebook for this year for another 2 weeks. However unfortunately I cannot say the same this year. We also came with the intention of booking for 2 even 3 weeks next year. But due to our experience this time we will not be returning.

• Pool - not freshwater as stated - smells of chlorine and seen staff adding chlorine.

• TV - all channels in German nothing English.

• German based hotel - caters primarily to them.

• Food - repetitive and undercooked or overcooked. Not as much selection as previous year.

• Very dirty and unkept - ants everywhere.

• Dispite signs saying you can’t reserve sun loungers before 9am if walking past at 8am most of them have already been taken and not used in the day. So having to get up at stupid times to reserve beds so we’ve got one so our child can sit under an umbrella for shade.

• Very hard to get a sun bed.

• Cleaning staff very rude.

• Cleaning staff coming in at 8am most mornings banging around waking us up which is ridiculous.

• Rooms not cleaned very well.

• When you put out the do not disturb sign they still come in.

• On one day we had put the do not disturb sign out as we hadn’t been feeling well the night before so didn’t want to be disturbed by them coming in or knocking on the door. When we woke up we had discovered they had come in and changed towels which means someone came in whilst me my husband and child were sleeping.

• Other days we left out the do not disturb sign as we wanted a lie in they’d still barge in around 8am/8:30am and try and clean and when we told them no thank you they get all assy and huff and puff and storm out.

• They shouldn’t be coming in if the do not do sign is outside as we clearly do not wish to be disturbed. And then with them just coming in anyway we are then disturbed.

• Staff at beach bar very rude. One of them wouldn’t serve us and accused us of not staying in the hotel and demanded our room number and name to check.

• Entertainment team rubbish. Don’t speak to you unless you’re not English. Not much entertainment. Again if you don’t play their silly games they get grumpy too.

• Pool food bar - staff don’t understand you. Ask for one thing you get something else. They don’t understand you and give you wrong things. Food there was mostly overcooked or undercooked and un edible.

• TUI are also still advertising it as a 5 star hotel. Which it’s not anymore. We’d rate it as a 3 star hotel max. (Last year definitely a 5 star! It was great)

We had a very pleasant stay at Asterias Beach Resort. The food was delicious, the rooms and grounds are kept immaculate and the hotel staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. We particularly noted Rafaela in the main bar and Samuel in the restaurant - they were exceptional. We also visited the À La Carte restaurant one evening which fantastic - would definitely recommend!

We are a young couple and found that the location was perfect, with a short walk (20 mins) to Kylompia and an easy bus ride to Rhodes - both areas had a great atmosphere with lots to see and do.

The beach is lovely although make sure you bring water shoes as it is stoney! Perhaps our only criticism of the hotel would be that a lot of sharp stones at the bottom of the pool in which I cut my foot twice!! Otherwise the pool is wonderful, with plenty of sunbeds and a great selection of drinks and snacks at the pool bar.

I was very entertained by the animation team - the girls worked hard to involve everyone. Pia was excellent and went out of her way to remember us, despite it being her first week! The program is a little repetitive each day, and the group dance 5 times a day seems overkill. But nonetheless a lot of the pool activities were good fun and a chance to meet other guests.

Overall the hotel was amazing, not really a lot we could fault! We will definitely be recommending it to others.

Just back from a week here. Weather fantastic, around 31 during the day and 28 at night. Hotel is in a quiet area with not much going on locally. Beach is very stony but very close to hotel. We had a shared swim up room which is by far the one to pick. The room was fairly small but had everything you needed. Outside you had a shaded seating area. A pool shared with one other room and private sun lounges with views of the sea. The hotel had one main buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was hot, varied and very nice. Staff were very good however not once during the week were we offered coffee with breakfast. Lunch and dinner were better as drinks service was offered. There is a pool snack bar which offered a good selection of food, we went there most days as you can go in your swimwear. There is also a beach bar where you can sit and relax and look at the views. The gym and spa looked good but did not use. The staff were excellent, very friendly and provided a great service. Room was cleaned everyday. Drinks were very nice and you can order more than one at a time which is good. The evening entertainment was ok, quite loud for a fairly small seating area which got busy quite early. The highlight of the week was the à la carte restaurant. You have to pre book and select a main course. When you arrive they look after you really well and bring out around 4 different starters followed by your main of choice, followed up by a nice desert. More than enough food. This restaurant seemed very quiet so I think people don’t realise how good it is. Plus the view is really good. Reception staff were very helpful. Overall we had a lovely trip and would go again.
