Kivotos Mykonos

Absolutely disgraceful. The worst hotel experience we have ever had.

If you are looking for somewhere to sleep, relax and actually enjoy your holiday, DO NOT STAY HERE.

We are currently staying at this hotel and the noise is absolutely horrendous. There is extremely loud music coming from the beach/venues directly across from the hotel, and it is so loud that our room is effectively unusable for sleeping. This isn’t a little background music or the occasional bit of noise — it is blaring music that goes on for hours and makes it impossible to sleep.

We immediately went to reception to ask for help. The response was beyond disappointing. We were offered another room just two doors away, despite the fact that the exact same noise could clearly be heard there. We were literally being offered a different room with the same problem.

When we explained that this wasn’t an acceptable solution and asked for a refund so we could leave and find somewhere we could actually sleep, the hotel refused to refund us.

I am six months pregnant, and the fact that the hotel is happy to leave a pregnant guest in a room where she cannot sleep despite being made fully aware of the situation is absolutely appalling. We didn’t pay a significant amount of money to stay somewhere where we are forced to lie awake listening to deafening music.

What makes this even worse is the complete lack of urgency or genuine attempt to resolve the situation. There was no meaningful solution offered, no appropriate alternative room, and no willingness to refund us so we could leave. Just a completely inadequate room change and a refusal to take responsibility.

A hotel should be somewhere you can sleep. That is the absolute bare minimum. This hotel has failed at that, and then failed again in how it handled our complaint.

We are now paying to stay somewhere we cannot properly sleep, while the hotel refuses to take any responsibility for the situation.

Extremely disappointing, completely unacceptable and absolutely not the relaxing stay we paid for.

If you are booking this hotel, I would strongly recommend asking specifically about the noise from the beach before handing over your money. We certainly wish we had.

We would never stay here again.

We booked Kivotos Mykonos directly for what was supposed to be our babymoon. I am six months pregnant, and instead of being able to relax and enjoy what should have been a very special trip, we experienced an absolutely unacceptable level of noise throughout the night.

There was extremely loud music coming from the beach/venues directly across from the hotel. This was not occasional background noise — it was blaring music for hours, loud enough that our room was effectively unusable for sleeping.

We immediately contacted reception to ask for help. The only alternative offered was a smaller room just two doors away, despite the exact same noise being clearly audible there. We were essentially being offered an inferior room without the actual problem being resolved.

We asked to leave and receive a refund so that we could find somewhere we could actually sleep. This was refused.

Things then became even more unacceptable when we escalated the complaint to the owner, Elektra.

During the conversation, despite knowing that I was six months pregnant and that we were extremely distressed and sleep deprived, she said to me:

“Are you even pregnant?”

When I explained that I was pregnant and that the situation was causing me significant stress, she then told us:

“He is the problem. He is the one causing the stress.”

She was referring to my husband, blaming him for the stress I was experiencing rather than acknowledging the noise, the lack of sleep and the hotel’s failure to resolve the situation.

The conversation then became increasingly uncomfortable and confrontational. I felt threatened by the way the interaction was escalating and had to ask, “Are you going to push me?” My husband immediately stepped in and told her, “Get away from my wife.”

No physical contact occurred, but by this point I no longer felt comfortable remaining at the property.

We were then told:

“You can leave if you want.”

So we did.

We left the hotel before the end of our booked stay because the situation had become completely intolerable. This was not a case of simply deciding we didn’t like the hotel. We had every intention of completing our stay. We left because we could not sleep, the proposed alternative did not resolve the problem, and the handling of our complaint ultimately left us too distressed to remain.

What makes this entire experience particularly shocking is that we repeatedly gave the hotel opportunities to resolve the situation. We went to reception. We considered the alternative room. We escalated the matter to the owner. We asked for a reasonable solution.

At no point was a meaningful solution provided.

Instead, we ended up leaving our accommodation early and losing the remainder of the stay we had paid for.

We were told the booking was non-refundable, but that does not change the fact that we raised a serious problem immediately, the proposed solution did not resolve it, and we ultimately left early after the situation deteriorated.

A hotel should provide somewhere where guests can reasonably sleep and feel comfortable raising legitimate concerns. We experienced neither.

Being six months pregnant made the lack of sleep and stress particularly upsetting, but regardless of pregnancy, the way this complaint was handled was completely unacceptable.

We came to Kivotos expecting a relaxing and memorable babymoon.

Instead, we left exhausted, distressed and extremely disappointed.

We would never stay here again.
