AVOID THIS HOTEL. It is not close to 4 stars, let alone 5 stars. Views are amazing, valets and doormen are good, but nothing else is remotely close to even adequate. I had three rooms for my family at a total of over 2200 euros per night. $10,000 for 4 nights and you'd think maybe we'd get some appreciation, respect and "adequate" service, but NO. Rooms are in a state of disrepair. Chipped paint everywhere, rust and dirty. We notified the manager and he couldn't have cared less. If you like Thalasso Centers as it is stated on the website " The Royal also offers a luxe hotel spa with an indoor pool and gym," be ready to buy spa treatments to gain access or be sent away at the entrance. Nowhere is this stated on the website or the reservations and was the primary reason for my booking. When I told the house manager of my concern, he rudely asked who told us we could use the Thalasso Center. I advised that having stayed in some of the finest hotels in the world (2 prior on this same trip), I have never had to ask if I could use the hot tub. He was condescending telling me his properties had 8 pools, loads of restaurants, and it is hot out, but I informed him I wanted to access the Center. Notably, 2200 euros per night was not enough to use the hot tub. He advised he would speak to the GM and get back to me. He never did and we were there for 4 nights. The Holiday Inn manager would have responded. We went to the pool. Chairs and tables dirty, cocktail sticks and garbage on the floor. We asked for towels and were told we're out of towels, see all those people, they don't have either. Again, "5 stars," I don't think so. From the website, "there’s nothing more relaxing than lounging under the summer sun, enjoying siestas on broad daybeds, while our attentive crew brings fresh towels, complimentary iced smoothies and cold towels." None of this was anywhere to be seen. We couldn't even get clean towels much less ice and smoothies and an attentive crew. Absolute joke. We then went to the beach to find out no chairs were available and once again, no cold towels or water as represented. My son arranged a marriage proposal to his girlfriend on property and I will add that the concierge was amazing. However, we were told the price but upon checkout, as we did not pay cash, the agent advised that she had to add 100 euros for taxes. Does this sound 5 stars. Cash required at a 5 star hotel. Finally at checkout, I asked for my LHW points and one of the same rude front desk men who barely looked up told me he would contact me later to advise. Did I ever hear from him, NO. DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO FEEL EXTREMELY AGGRAVATED AT THE GOOD MONEY YOU HAVE SPENT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN SPENT AT A NEIGHBORING PROPERTY WITH UP TO STANDARD FACILITIES AND WHERE YOU WOULD BE TREATED PROPERLY AND APPRECIATED.

We visited Royal Hotel Camares for dinner while staying at the Avaton, and honestly, the service was exceptional from start to finish.

Mike, Maria, Martha and Martin were all fantastic. The attention to detail was something that really stood out — everyone was incredibly welcoming, attentive and genuinely seemed to care about making sure we had a great evening. Nothing felt forced or overly formal; it was just really warm and personal service.

The setting is beautiful and made for a lovely evening, but it was the staff who really made the experience memorable. They were attentive without being intrusive and somehow managed to make us feel like regular guests, even though we were only there for dinner.

A special thank you to Mike, Maria, Martha and Martin. You all made our evening really special. We would absolutely come back for dinner if we’re in Mykonos again and would happily recommend Royal Hotel Camares.

Camares Royal Hotel is, quite simply, fabulous. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect — the service, the food, the atmosphere, and above all, the wonderful people who made our stay so special.

A very special thank you to Mike, Maria, Martha and Martin, who were absolutely outstanding. Their warmth, kindness, attentiveness and genuine hospitality made us feel incredibly welcome and looked after throughout our stay. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they went above and beyond in every possible way.

The food was exceptional, the atmosphere was incredible, and every detail was handled with such care. It’s rare to experience service that feels so genuinely personal and effortless.

Honestly, we couldn’t fault a single thing. Camares Royal Hotel exceeded all our expectations and gave us an experience we will remember for a very long time. We left feeling incredibly grateful — and already looking forward to returning.
