Astir Odysseus Resort and Spa

British couple - mid 30s no children 7 days - July Weather 29-31 degrees no clouds All inclusive

Travel Booked through Tui and went with coach transfer - asked at airport and it was €35 for a taxi Took about 50 mins as we were the second to last stop On the return only 35 mins.

First impressions Grand opening , great on reception and the give you all the information up front, golf cart to take you and your bags to your room, two keys per couple (one will need to stay in the slot at all times to keep AC going).

Room We booked a swim up room which is away from the two main pools however just as large and houses roughly 20 rooms, these are not split into adult only sections so likely still have some kids about.

Room details Two singles pushed together , not the best beds not the worst, 1 armchair , shower nice size good water pressure and solid hot and cold. Enough room for a weeks worth of clothes for two not sure how you would cope with 14 days. Tv (we didn’t turn this on) AC which was very very good.

Outside 2 x loungers , 2 x chairs, 1 x side table Outside for us was a bit of a struggle and we had one of the better rooms, the outside area was quite short and only got the sun till about 15:00 , some of the swim up rooms outside areas looked incredibly boxed in and would get very little sun. Swim up pool is not heated

Main pools We didn’t visit them but would constantly walk past them, it never looked like you had to que or wake up early to get a lounger in any way. Main pool near the beach is heated

Beach We’re not a beach people however did take a walk along it on the final night, it’s only about 15ft before the water hits however there’s loungers accross all of it.

Facilities On site shop - overpriced as you would expect (see shops and local section) however has everything you would need. Jewellers - not sure why, never saw anyone in there Kids play area Climbing wall - never really saw anyone on this Mini gold - looked over grown and tired but mainly kids using it Football pitch Tennis court - looks in great condition on issue is no shade Spa - honestly were spa people , regular massages and use of steam and sauna however (and I understand it’s there job) the spa therapists stand on the door to the main restaurant every lunch and dinner trying to convince you to go - the prices are astronomical V the uk Gym - didn’t see or use it.

Food & drink
Multiple options - ignore the app €8 deliver fee on every order makes it useless Room stocked with coke , Coke Zero, sprite, soda water - all cans - Greek beer and wine + water - restocked daily.

Drinks Options everywhere with 80% of the menu available with no upcharge. Sodas poured from bottles into plastic cups so most of them are instantly flat , coffees and teas available , peach and lemon ice tea, water everywhere. Beers - basic Greek beer Cocktails - I feel like there trying to impress by over pouring however nearly all cocktails were incredibly unbalanced - that being said I genuinely think it’s because they want to give you more.

Food

Street food van By the main pool near the beach there’s a van the you can get club sandwich’s , hot dogs , burgers, chips - all nice enough and nice to snack on open 12:00-18:00

Sub restaurant Again near the beach is a glass restaurant where during lunch they serve buffet style Pizza (fairly good to be honest), chicken, pork , fish , salads, chips , desserts, breads, oils, dips. A solid 8/10 and we ate here a few times, this is also in the evening one of there two al a carte restaurants (you get 1 vist free with all inclusive) we skipped the evening option as honestly the menu didn’t speak to us

Main restaurant (Beautiful restaurant with out and in seating, waiters who are fairly quick and lovely) cats everywhere, no smoking, no adults only section.

Breakfast Everything you could ask for and more,

Orange, Apple, cranberry, pineapple juice alongside smoothies and fresh juices

Coffee severed instantly and also have non dairy milk inside on the buffet if needed

Pancakes,waffles,crepes Bacon, a sausage (different every day) hashbrowns, eggs, beans (some days) Omelette station (however they do one at a time so long waits). Meats, cheeses, pre paird sandwiches Rows of fresh fruit Breads and pastries

Lunch Lunch was great for the first 4 days then a little hit and miss - what I will say is they never once ran out of anything on any service, nothing I ate I didn’t enjoy and the quality felt really good.

Dinner Some nights had themes , Mexican, fine dining, Greek

Every dinner had a wild amount of choice with a center peice each night

Over all the food for an all inclusive was exceptional - genuinely 10/10 the only thing I would say is it lacked any form of spicy option.

Cheeky hint* always check the kids section they had some real treats snuck in there.

Great for the adventurous, great for the fussy.

Shops and local So, two minutes walk out to the front then turn right and another two minutes walk is a convenience shop. Loads of Greek and British snacks and drinks, coffee bar white fantastic coffee and loads of cigarettes (€34 a carton for most). I’d go here over the on site shop every single time.

Bus to kos town Picks up outside the complex to the right then drops back right outside the hotel gates €2 per journey and takes about 15 mins into town - can get very busy around lunch time both ways.

Overall really really great venue with lots of options and food, tucked away from everyone else and feels really premium , would also note the place is immaculate not a pice of litter or an in dusted unit

My therapist, Odysseus, was perfect. He has the perfect balance of a relaxing and an intensive massage. He found all of my sore spots exactly. After the treatment, I felt very relaxed and my muscles were completely loosened. I highly recommend him.
