- Gaia Palace Hotel

A short distance from Mastichari, the picturesque fishing village that is the island's second largest harbor, and steps away from an organized white sand beach with tranquil water that is ideal for families and water sports enthusiasts, sits the Gaia Palace that is everything you would expect in top quality holiday accommodation, dining, services and amenities. A hallmark of the hotel are its three swimming pools, impressive and tantalizing, beckoning guests to dive in for a swim, water games, to be refreshed or just relax. The fact that there are three main pools and three smaller children's pools means that there is a marked lack of crowing or noise at any given one. The large Olympic-size pool is reserved for water sports fans and those who want to swim laps, and has a separate adjacent children's pool for absolute safety; two smaller pools are dedicated to less intense swimming activity and in-pool relaxing, while each has its own adjacent children's pool as well. The Pool Bar completes the scene, offering refreshing juices and cocktails and a variety of snacks and tasty treats right next to the water. For visitors who prefer action-packed holidays, the Gaia Palace Hotel boasts a fully-equipped gym, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, athletic and swimming games and competitions, fitness programs both in and out of the pools and on the beach, as well as a beach volleyball tournament. At the Gaia Palace, the fun doesn't stop when the sun goes down; it heats up even more with evening parties by the water and musical dance shows organized regularly.
I booked 12 nights at this hotel & left after 4 nights . For one I booked a twin room & you don’t get a twin room you get a double camp bed & a single camp bed . Witch all the slats fall off & are uncomfortable, when asked to be changed to a twin room because 1 of our party then had no where to sleep they didn’t care they were rude & basically refused to do anything & just said that is a twin room ! The whole complex is crawling with ants even in the rooms & anything else that bites , the food is is repetitive the daily entertainment well what entertainment they play 1 or 2 songs round the pool then turn off & go so you will be sat around a pool all day with no music or anything & you will get bored & the hotel is in the middle of no where 1 bar up the road where you can go to watch live football & eat witch was nice would not go back & it’s definitely not a 4 star plus
From the moment we stepped into the reception of Gaia Palace the professionalism of the staff there was 5 star. Allowed into lunch as we only had a half hour before closing and then back to reception to complete check in and given our room. Ground floor next to the main pool with our own sun loungers. Yes things inside could be updated but nothing to reduce our 5/5 rating. Bed was super comfortable, room spacious.Bathroom a bit tired and in need of updating. The shower head and hose were old and a little dirty and the water ran out and onto the floor.Put these small issues right and the room would be perfect for our needs.Room always cleased when required. Bar staff always friendly, restaurant manager always greeted you at each meal and a special mention about Clair in the restaurant who is an absolute star and an asset to Gaia. Service with a smile and nothing too much trouble, she put the odd one or two to shame who would rather fix their nails and look uninterested to help you. Shame. Thanks to the man in reception who took us down to the beach in the golf buggy as my partner has mobility issues. Beach bar again attentive and by the second week they knew our drinks order without asking and how we liked them made to perfection. Yes we paid for them but at 5 euro they were amazing and you knew there was alcohol in them. We would definitely return in the future maybe with a little more evening entertainment it would make it even better.
There were so many little things that should not happen in a 4 star. The hard beds and pillows were terrible to sleep on, the shower was always boiling hot or ice cold. And then comes the "Ultra" all inclusive option you find out about only once you come in. And is essentially what in my opinion should get in all inclusive in the first place. Thats what i paid all inclusive for! Not to think about any extra costs for food and drinks.
Don't get me wrong it was a great holiday. With city excursion for a day and the beach and the pools it was more than enough to relax and enjoy it.
But it was the little things that were obvious upsells that was pretty tacky.
This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at. Our room was excellent and without exception the staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. The food was buffet style and there were always plenty of choices.
A great hotel. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Food was lovely - 15 of us and all of us found something to our taste every morning, lunch and dinner. There are plenty of pools and sun loungers. Daily cocktails were delicious. The entertainment was great for kids and the beach was lovely for snorkelling and shallow for the kids. Would highly recommend.
