Grecotel Casa Paradiso

We stayed here for a week in September for our 5th wedding anniversary, travelling with our 2-year-old son. We stayed in one of the Family Cabana with a Veranda room and would definitely recommend this room type, particularly if you’re travelling with young children. The extra space and veranda made it much easier for us as a family.

The room & family facilities:

The Family Cabana with Veranda was a great choice for us. Having the additional space was really useful with a 2-year-old, and the veranda was lovely.

One of the things we particularly liked was being able to request children’s amenities through the hotel website before arriving. There were lots of things available free of charge, including bed guard rails, a cot, toilet seat and step, and these were already in our room when we arrived. Such a good idea and really convenient.

Beach towels were also already in the room and were good quality.

One thing to be aware of with young children is that the hot water temperature was inconsistent, so we had to be particularly careful when showering our toddler.

Hair dryer was powerful and the two aircons were good.

Food & drinks:

There was always plenty of food available and we were impressed with the variety for an all-inclusive. The food does become repetitive over a week, as you’d expect, but there was always something we could find to eat.

The potatoes were a particular highlight for me. I must have eaten about 20 of them over the week! 😂

The homemade pizza cooked fresh in front of you was also so, so good.

The restaurant itself is very spacious, with plenty of seating, so it never felt particularly cramped or chaotic.

There is a children’s station, although we found this quite limited, with only two options plus a soup. Luckily, our son is 2 and was able to eat plenty from the main buffet instead.

My wife is vegetarian and found the vegetarian options a little limited, particularly as she doesn’t like aubergine/eggplant. There were options available, but this is something we’d mention if you’re a vegetarian with similar preferences.

We loved that drinks were self-service and, importantly, it’s Coca-Cola rather than Pepsi! 😂 The drinks are slightly watered down, but still perfectly drinkable. You can also help yourself to bottles of red, white and rosé wine, which was a nice touch.

We had no issues with cocktails. They were strong and tasted good (strawberry daiquiri and Pina colada).

Pools & resort:

There are two large pools plus a children’s pool. The children’s pool was very cold when we were there, so our son didn’t spend much time in it.

There were plenty of sunbeds, although, like many resorts, people were reserving them despite signs asking them not to, which was frustrating.

The whole resort was very well maintained and we constantly saw staff cleaning and looking after the grounds.

Our son absolutely loved the children’s playground. It could do with a little TLC, but it was perfectly good for him and gave us somewhere else to take him. He also loved finding all the cats around the resort! 🐈

We also noticed the kids’ club staff being very attentive and clearly focused on the children’s safety, which made us feel comfortable about potentially using the kids’ club when our son is older.

Entertainment:

This was probably the weakest area for us, although it didn’t really affect our holiday because we had a 2-year-old who needed to be in bed around 7:30pm.

There wasn’t a huge amount of evening entertainment, and some of it started quite late. For example, the Mamma Mia event didn’t start until 9pm.

If evening entertainment is important to you, particularly if you’re travelling with children, I’d take this into consideration. If you’re happy to spend your evenings relaxing, having a drink and doing your own thing, it probably won’t bother you.

We actually liked that the hotel didn’t feel overly dominated by families. There was a really nice mix of families, younger couples and older couples.

Getting around & what’s nearby

We didn’t use the bus ourselves, but there is a bus stop just outside the back of the hotel by the beach, and we were told it was €2.50.

The hotel has an on-site shop which sells a surprisingly good range of things, including milk, snacks, souvenirs and other essentials. We actually found some prices cheaper here than further along the beach in Marmari, which was useful.

If you want a proper supermarket or more souvenirs, we’d definitely recommend the walk to Supermarket Konstantinos. It’s around a 25-minute walk and was well worth it for us. They had everything from food and essentials to inflatables starting at around €1 and beach balls.

There are also vendors in the hotel hallway at certain times if you want to hire a car or book an excursion.

There isn’t a huge amount immediately around the hotel if you’re looking for restaurants, so bear this in mind. You can walk around 15–20 minutes if you want to get further out, but we were happy with the all-inclusive setup.

Street food & snacks:

We enjoyed the street food area, particularly the fruit salad and Greek salad.

There is also a crepe and ice cream stand, although be prepared to queue. We waited around 15–20 minutes pretty much every time we went, regardless of the time of day.

They alternate between waffles and crepes on different days.

Other facilities

There are two pool tables, which cost €2.

The reception team were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

We didn’t use the à la carte restaurant, so unfortunately can’t comment on that.

A lovely anniversary touch ❤️

We emailed the hotel before arriving to let them know it was our 5th wedding anniversary. They arranged a cake and champagne in our room for our arrival, which was such a lovely touch and really appreciated.

Overall

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the hotel, particularly for families looking for a relaxed all-inclusive with plenty of space.

For us, the biggest positives were the spacious family room, friendly staff, cleanliness, good facilities, easy access to drinks and food, and the fact that it didn’t feel overwhelmingly family-focused.

The main things we’d flag are the inconsistent hot water, limited vegetarian choice for someone with particular preferences, and relatively limited evening entertainment.

Overall, we’d say this is a very good 4-star. It’s not comparable to the very best all-inclusives we’ve experienced outside Europe, but within Europe, we’d happily return and felt it was better than some of the larger all-inclusive resorts we’ve stayed at in places such as Tenerife.

We stayed here for a week in August with our son who is six. We had a lovely time but there are some things to be aware of. 1 - There are only two restaurants. A 'BBQ restaurant' is advertised as a third but this is actually just the outdoor bit of the main restaurant, where most of the hot food is served. We didn't even realise this on our first night and thought the food selection was a bit rubbish - before realising all the grilled meats etc were outside! There's also an 'a la carte restaurant' that you can go to once during your stay (pre-bookable) but we actually didn't even go as it's just tables set out by the pool. 2 - The pool by the main restaurant is much nicer than the other pool, and easier to get sunbeds. 3 - There is only one type of beer on draught and we found it to be not cold enough and quite flat. However the manager did rectify this after we said (there are also plenty of cocktails, spirits, wines etc but we only drink beer) 4 - We were told there was a 'beach bar' which we assumed meant a bar on the beach but this isn't the case. The closest bar to the hotel's section of beach is the lower pool bar, which is a good 5 min walk from the beach (and you have to cross a road) 5 - Buses run from pretty much outside the hotel to Kos town - very handy and cheap 6 - Cleaners were great, made sure our rooms were cleaned every day even when we chopped and changed our plans and were sometimes in the room at their usual cleaning times 7 - This is very much a family resort. It is loud and busy and there are kids everywhere. This was fine for us as we travelled as a family but if you're travelling with teens or without kids, I would avoid.

This is a beautiful hotel, in a great location. The hotel is a lovely size and very well spaced out with beautiful gardens growing fresh produce. A very chilled vibe. The food is delicious with a really nice variety, and the street food at lunch by the pool was fab. There were no fights for sun loungers at the bottom pool or by the beach. Rooms were lovely and spacious and cleaned daily. Bus into Kos Town from the bottom of the hotel (by the beach) for €2.50pp each way, takes about 30 mins. We didn’t visit the evening entertainment, but did use the gym and tennis courts. There’s also a water sports business a short walk down the beach for windsurfing / paddle boards. Staff were always very happy and helpful, and check in was probably the best I’ve experienced. We really enjoyed our holiday here.
