Sentido Pelagos Suites Hotel

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a 9-night stay at Pelagos Suites Hotel & Spa, and overall we had a fantastic time. The hotel and its staff are fantastic, and honestly, I can’t quite understand some of the negative comments we’ve seen about the hotel.

First impressions & hotel grounds

The hotel grounds are meticulously looked after. The plants and grass are freshly trimmed, everything is incredibly well maintained, and the whole resort is kept in tip-top condition. It’s clear that a huge amount of effort goes into maintaining the appearance of the hotel, and everywhere you look feels clean and well cared for.

The staff

Around 95% of the staff we encountered were fantastic. They were friendly, welcoming, always happy to help and generally made us feel very well looked after throughout our stay.

There were, however, a couple of occasions where the service didn’t quite match the rest of the hotel. On check-out, the staff member serving us said probably two words to us and didn’t really make any attempt to look interested or engaged, which was a disappointing way to end what had otherwise been a great stay.

We also had a waiter at the Mediterranean restaurant who, unfortunately, wasn’t the kindest or most welcoming person going. These were definitely exceptions rather than the rule, though, and the vast majority of the staff were brilliant.

Our Junior Suite

We stayed in a Junior Suite, which was extremely nicely finished and a lovely room overall. There were one or two small signs of wear, such as a couple of cracks in the shower tiles, but nothing that affected our stay.

We did have a few housekeeping issues during our stay. On two occasions, our towels were changed but we were left with one dirty towel and another with a hole in it. It’s obviously not what you’d expect from a hotel of this standard, but once we mentioned it to reception, they came and changed them immediately.

One other small thing worth mentioning is the key cards. When we checked in, we were only given one, which we initially didn’t think was a problem. However, you have to leave a key card in the room to keep the air conditioning running, which we didn’t realise — and it’s something I’ve never experienced at a previous hotel.

When we first arrived, the room was absolutely stifling, and after our first day out we came back to the same issue because we had taken the key card with us. Once we explained this to reception, they gave us a second key card, which completely solved the problem.

Food & restaurants

The food throughout the hotel was really good, with the Italian à-la-carte restaurant being a particular highlight. The buffet also had a good selection and the quality was consistently good. There were four themed nights each week, which was a nice touch and gave the buffet some variety.

The Mediterranean restaurant was fine, although we didn’t think it was anything particularly special. As we were staying in a suite, we were also able to have breakfast there, which we really enjoyed — in our opinion, it was noticeably better than the main buffet breakfast.

There’s also an ice cream and crêpe stand, which was a lovely addition and definitely got plenty of use from us!

Sunbeds

We had absolutely no issues with sunbeds, so I’m not entirely sure about some of the comments we’d read beforehand.

Yes, the sunbeds around the main pool are pretty much all taken by 9am, but around the adult pool we regularly went down at around 10am and could easily find two sunbeds together. On one day we didn’t even go down until around 11am and still had no problem finding a couple together.

Getting into Kos Town

The hotel is around a 5-minute taxi ride from Kos Town, although we didn’t use taxis as we found them fairly unreliable on the island.

Instead, we used the Volta e-scooters, which are parked right outside the hotel. They cost around €5 each journey and took us roughly 10 minutes to reach Kos Harbour.

We found these absolutely fantastic and never had an issue finding one outside the hotel. We massively recommend using them if you want an easy and fun way of getting into Kos Town.

Spa

We also had a couples back, neck and shoulder massage one morning, which was really nice and very relaxing. The spa staff were fantastic — really friendly and welcoming — and it was a lovely addition to our stay.

Overall

All in all, we had a fantastic stay at Pelagos. I wouldn’t quite describe it as a 5-star hotel — there are a couple of areas where I think improvements could be made — but I would absolutely say it is a very high 4-star hotel.

The beautiful grounds, great staff, good food, fantastic pools and overall atmosphere made it a really enjoyable holiday. The few issues we experienced were relatively minor and, importantly, were dealt with quickly when we raised them.

We’d definitely come back in the future and would happily recommend Pelagos to anyone visiting Kos.

We enjoyed it so much that we booked another couples massage before leaving for our flight home.
