Blue Lagoon Resort

I would happily give this resort 5 stars because it delivered exactly what I was looking for from a family all-inclusive holiday.

It’s important to set expectations - this is a fantastic family resort, not an ultra-luxury personalised experience like a Four Seasons. If you’re looking for boutique luxury, Michelin-style dining, or a highly personalised service, then this may not be the right fit.

However, if you’re looking for great facilities, unlimited food and drinks, entertainment, and a fun family atmosphere, this resort does a brilliant job.

The food was what I would expect from a large all-inclusive resort catering to an international audience. There was a huge selection of fresh food available every day, with plenty of choice across different cuisines. After 10 days, dishes naturally became a little repetitive, and some flavours were on the milder side of having flavour, but the food was always hot, regularly replenished, and there was always something for everyone. They also catered extremely well for gluten-free requirements, which was a huge positive.

The rooms are quite basic and typical of Greek resorts, but they were comfortable and had everything we needed. Housekeeping was sometimes a little inconsistent, although the cleaners we met were lovely and always happy to help when asked. This is one small area where the resort could continue to improve, but it didn’t take away from our overall experience.

The facilities and pools are fantastic, especially for families. Everything was well maintained, and there was plenty to keep children entertained throughout the day. The biggest highlight of this resort is the staff. They are genuinely the asset of the hotel. Everyone we met was friendly, hardworking, and efficient, and many staff members remembered us throughout our stay. You can really see how much effort they put in every day to make guests feel welcome and enjoy their holiday. The entertainment team were also fantastic and went above and beyond for the children. We used the kids’ club a couple of times and our daughter had fun. Personally, I preferred to stay with her rather than leave her, as the club can become very busy with children of different ages, needs, and nationalities. The team did a brilliant job managing such a responsibility, but I do think additional staffing is needed.

Overall, this resort offers excellent value for money for families looking for a fun, relaxed, all-inclusive holiday. The food is varied and fresh but can be repetitive, the facilities are excellent, the entertainment is great, and the staff truly make the experience special.

We had a wonderful stay and would happily recommend it to families looking for a memorable holiday, but note this resort does require you to take a bus or taxi to the town.

Blue lagoon resort kos is definitely not a Tui platinum resort and most definitely not 5 star rating! Rooms are basic and outdated, wallpaper was ripped on our arrival fridge door hanging off. Basic coffee and tea with no milks and they do not replenish when cleaning room and always had to ask for more. Air con units are on timers so you can't use them when you want. Balcony on ground floor rooms are joined with neighbours so no privacy at all on somw rooms. Basic Toiletries in bathroom that again are not replenished and of poor quality. We were given 3 single beds and quilts with x1 pillow each, two beds pushed together that parted so we couldn't even sleep together! Complained to tui rep asked for a room upgrade to pay and told constantly none were available X3 bottles of waster in fridge on arrival that again are not replenished and when asked they are chargeable! Never had this in 5 star previously. The room safe is also chargeable if you wanted to use this. Food is below average we found compared to other holidays we've had. Eating early also doesn't mean food is hot we found food was always dry and bland. They do have A la carte restaurants that are booked in advance which was probably the worst! Italian please avoid people where actually walking out it was that bad. You can book these as many times as you want to though if you like bland food. Dining staff always clearing plates from underneath you constantly which we found annoying as if you were rushed. The pools are lovely and views are beautiful but some staff are rude and not helpful at all. Most staff are hardworking especially cleaners and lifeguards where lovely. The main issue with the pool areas are that people get up at 6am reserving beds for people sometimes upto 10 at a time. There are rules about reserving beds before 8.30am saying belongings will be removed if beds have towels on with no persons present, but again lifeguards do sweeps and just remove towels and place them on the bed tables so doesn't really stop people doing it anyway. When the pool entertainment is on daily apart from weekends they do activities like pool aerobics etc for about an hour then nothing no music around the pool. Crepe station is always long ques with x1 staff on. Bar areas for cocktails are also rubbish for atmosphere and music quite boring we found. The cocktails are all inclusive if on the menu but sometimes had to pay for like a mojito cocktail which blew our minds. Free cocktails were awful and not consistent like they put anything in them. We did complain constantly to staff and Tui reps but unhelpful and not bothered. There is a shop inside which is extortionate for everything but did sell everything if your prepared to pay through the nose for tat and sweets etc. The staff in there are rude! Huffing and puffing like your an inconvenience hated and tried to avoid even giving her our money! Manners here seem to be few and far between. Most staff are not Greek either lots from Philippines working, but hard working and polite. Kos town was beautiful still expensive but worth a visit for the scenery alone! Bus takes you from outside hotel into town for 1 euro each. Taxis can be expensive and a long wait. We still had a great holiday but this was expensive for what we had compared to other holidays we've had at similar prices with a lot better food and amenities and most of all customer service with a smile! Definitely lacking here. The evening entertainment was good probably the best we've had but they are an outside production team called Palmera productions, the staff were great and worked hard. The weather was beautiful for the whole 2 weeks and the beach and scenery of Kos was amazing. But definitely not worth the all inclusive money at Blue lagoon resort and most definitely not a 5 star Tui Platinum rated hotel! Don't be fooled. Hotel can be noisy at night and early mornings. Cats, Cockerell and chickens roam freely, which we liked, but could be annoying to others. Overall family holiday is what you make of it and we had an amazing time it just would of been better if the standards where the same as previous holidays we had booked through Tui sadly.

This was our third visit to Blue Lagoon Resort, and the place is still as spotless as ever. The pool facilities are fantastic, with something for everyone, and the staff genuinely cannot do enough to help. The entertainment team are amazing, and the nightly shows are fantastic. The only exception for us was the show on their day off, which is definitely worth skipping!

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, although they could do with a bit of an upgrade and, in our opinion, more storage space.

We also paid the €12 upgrade for the cocktails. We felt this was a little expensive, but the cocktails did taste amazing, and we ended up ordering several!

Unfortunately, the biggest let-down for us was the food. There have definitely been cutbacks since our last visit. The main restaurant is now closed two nights a week, and when it is open, you need to book. This wasn’t the case when we visited in 2023.

The food has also become extremely repetitive and, sadly, is no longer to the standard it once was. On a couple of occasions, we were served meat that was extremely undercooked, which was disappointing.

Overall, we still had an amazing holiday and there is so much we love about this resort. However, with the decline in food quality and the hotel being some distance from outside restaurants, it will probably be some time before we return.

It’s a real shame, as the resort itself is fantastic and the staff and entertainment are still brilliant. Hopefully, the food situation improves before our next visit.
