Stayed over for 5 nights in July. Friendly staff,great fresh food,the actual 5 start service from check in to check out. Definitely recommend and will go back again.
Just returned from our holidays here. We had a lovely stay overall and there are definitely some really good things about this hotel.
The location is great. It’s about a 10-minute walk and you’re in Kardamena town, with plenty of shops to browse, bars and restaurants.
The hotel itself was clean and our room was lovely, with amazing views.
The facilities are also very good, with three pool areas. One is by the main restaurant on the higher level of the complex, and the other two are on the lower level, with one of those being adults only.
The staff absolutely could not be faulted. They work so hard and were always pleasant and helpful.
The only thing to be aware of is the uphill walk to the main restaurant. It can be quite hard going, especially in the heat. You can phone reception and ask for a lift though, as they have golf buggy-type vehicles which will take you up.
Now for the food. We’ve been on quite a few all-inclusive holidays, so we know the food can be a bit samey from night to night. Usually though, there’s enough choice and variety that you can have something different each evening. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case here. If I’d had my grandchildren with me, I have no doubt I would have needed to take them out to eat, as I know there would not have been enough variety to keep them happy.
Breakfast was plentiful and okay though.
The pool bar was handy if you didn’t want to make the walk up to the main restaurant for a quick snack, but the choice again, very limited. One day it was a bread roll with a burger, another day a frankfurter, and I think there were kebabs on another day. If you’re thinking you could just top it up with some chips, unfortunately there weren’t any. There was a chiller with ready-made sandwiches and small tubs of salad, plus cakes and ice cream.
The beach across the road from the hotel is very rocky, so probably not the best if you’re looking for a sandy beach.
There was a good choice of cocktails at the bars. I can’t really comment on the beers though as I don’t drink beer.
For getting around, you can get the local bus from Kardamena to Kos Town for €4.50 each way, although the journey takes just over an hour. Alternatively, the hotel runs a bus for €15 return. This is quicker, you’re guaranteed a seat and it’s air-conditioned, which is a big plus. The downside is that you only get around 4 hours in Kos Town before you have to be back on the bus, which may not be long enough for some people.
So, for us, the hotel itself, the room, pools, views, cleanliness and especially the staff were all great. The biggest let-down was definitely the food and lack of variety. With better food choices, we would have had very little to complain about.
Would I stay here again? Yes, I probably would, but I’d definitely take the food into consideration when booking. Apart from that, we had a really enjoyable holiday and there were plenty of things we liked about the hotel.
Lovely hotel clean well looked after on the other hand food wasn’t great at all we ended up going out every night for nice food &drink we did give feedback at reception and the day after we received a bottle of red wine and a plate of fruit which I could of got from any of the restaurants for free anyway , we definitely would go back to kardamena but this hotel wasn’t for us lovely location .
Quite family of 4 honest review
Location - lovely views are stunning the walk in to kardamina is 10 mins away ( with kids ) if you like sandy beaches walk to the bottom of the road and turn right walk a few minutes or the other end of the town
Rooms where clean and monden, cleaner came in with towels evey day.. balcony had a lovely setting area with sofa and chairs we stayed in one of the top blocks
Noise level was fine where we was staying and stayed around the top pool - if you like entertainment in the day the bottom pool is for you - but personal i like to lie and read my book
Food was the only down fall i was board after 4 days ! We always do all inclusive so we get dishes are the same ect but there just wasn't much options - the hotel food is definitely not 5* iv stayed many 4* with better choice of foods - BUT .... I want to say a massive thankyou to the chef my 9 year old son will only eat nuggets and these where not always available as they do not have a kids station! He would see my son walk in at both lunch and tea time and go and make him a plate full of nuggets - which things like this go along way.. Eating in kardamina is lovely and not that expensive
All the staff are lovely - big thankyou to DIDKA she is in the dinning area she goes the extra mile and tought me so much greek
Just returned from a week at the Grand Blue with my partner and teenage daughter. We all had a great time here.
From the moment we arrived after a late night flight the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The receptionist staff explained where all the restaurants, pools , facilities etc were and then a golf buggy took us and our luggage to our room (which reception upgraded us to a sea view - thanks)
Next morning we headed up to breakfast in the main buffet restaurant - plenty of tables free - as soon as we sat down the friendly waiters / waitresses were straight over to take our drink order. This set the tone throughout the hotel, the staff couldn't do enough for you and were all very cheerful and friendly.
Food was standard AI level - plenty of choice , no complaints from us.
After breakfast we headed to the main pool opposite the restaurants - to our pleasant suprise there were plenty of sunbeds available - this was same all week and a real bonus as we are used to the usual sunbed wars - not here though.
Lunch was in the same buffet as breakfast and standard AI fare - plenty of choice and good quality.
After lunch we went to the entertainment pool at bottom of the hill - this pool had a bit of music and had water polo, aqua aerobics, darts etc. ran by the excellent entertainment team. We decided we preferred this pool so we sort most days there for rest of holiday.
For evening meal we went to the panorama restaurant on the top floor which is another buffet style with their nights. It's basically the same food as the main buffet but we found it nicer and being able to sit outside on the balcony to eat was great - the waiters/ waitresses up here were excellent too (one night even making a table up for us so we could sit outside) - we ate our tea at the panorama restaurant for rest of holiday.
We also went to the main lobby bar most nights - great cocktails and we enjoyed the evening entertainment especially Greek night and the live music acts.
Another great feature of the hotel is the location - 10 walk into Kardemena along a road- we walked in 2 or 3 times.
The only negative about this hotel is the steep hill - it's like a mountain pass however there are golf carts about all the time and as out room was near the top it didn't effect us. It's all worth it for the view.
Also the "beach" is very small and rocky but you only have to walk 50 yards to the right and there is a nice sandy beach so no big deal.
Overall we had a great holiday and would definitely return in the future.
