- Electra Kefalonia Hotel and Spa

Experience the beauty of Kefalonia and the Ionian Sea in a beautiful hotel overlooking the sea and the majestic sunsets. Only a couple kilometres away from the airport and only a few minutes ride from Argostoli, the capital of the island. Treat yourself in our beautiful spa or do not lose track of your fitness goals by training in our gym or taking a lap in one of our pools.Electra Kefalonia is located in the area of Svoronata and only 100 meters from Ammes Beach. The island's airport is only a couple of kilometers away while Argostoli, the capital of the island, is only few minutes' drive from here.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
From the moment we arrived at the Electra Hotel Kefalonia, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and authentic Greek hospitality. Since we were celebrating a special occasion, the staff surprised us with a lovely bottle of local wine and a thoughtful handwritten note waiting in our room.
We stayed in one of the private pool suites, located at the end of the property away from the restaurant. It was very peaceful, with beautiful flowering gardens on one side and lovely views of the Ionian Sea on the other. If you're looking for a quiet room, I highly recommend requesting one of these suites.
The room itself was very clean, well designed, and offered plenty of closet and storage space—something that's often overlooked but greatly appreciated during a longer stay. The bed was also very comfortable, making it easy to relax after a day of exploring Kefalonia.
I noticed that a few reviews mention humidity in the rooms. While that was true for our room, It's worth remembering that this is an island in the Ionian Sea, so humidity is simply part of the climate. We found the room to be comfortable and had no issues during our stay. The AC helped with the humidity as well.
The private pool was fantastic and became our favorite place to escape the afternoon heat. It was well maintained and cleaned every day. The main pool never felt overcrowded and was a wonderful place to relax.
Breakfast is served overlooking the main pool and the sea, making for a nice start to the day. The selection was abundant, with eggs cooked to order, fresh Greek pastries and breads, yogurt, cereals, cheeses, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, and much more. We also ordered room service one afternoon to enjoy by our pool. The gyro tacos were very good—although I would have preferred a traditional Greek gyro! Regardless, the quality of the food was outstanding.
One of the things we appreciated most was the boutique feel of the hotel. With only about 35 rooms, it never felt crowded, and the atmosphere was peaceful and personal. We understand the hotel is expanding, which will roughly double its size. It'll be interesting to see how they preserve the intimate ambiance that makes the property so special. BTW, there is active construction next door as the hotel expands, but apart from random hammering it did not affect our stay at all.
The staff truly elevated our entire experience. We extended our stay twice, and despite traveling during the height of summer, the front desk managed to keep us in the same room both times—a courtesy we greatly appreciated. Every member of the front desk was friendly, accommodating, and eager to help.
The restaurant team deserves special recognition as well. We saw many of the same staff members working breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day, yet they were always smiling, attentive, and genuinely happy to help. They worked incredibly hard and made every meal enjoyable. Their English was excellent, and they appreciated our attempts to speak Greek.
One aspect of the hotel that people often mention is its proximity to Kefalonia Airport. Whether this is a positive or a negative really depends on the guest. Some may find the occasional arriving aircraft distracting, while others—like us—thought it was part of the fun. Guests around the pool would often pull out their phones to capture the planes overhead. Only arriving flights pass over the hotel, there are relatively few flights each day, and there are no overnight flights, so it never affected our sleep.
While there is a small beach directly across from the hotel it's worth venturing further out. Some of the island's better beaches are only a 10- to 15-minute drive away, making Electra an excellent base for exploring.
There's also a beautiful spa & pool in the basement. While we didn't have a chance to use the spa, it on the list for next time.
Overall, Electra Hotel Kefalonia combines beautiful accommodations, excellent food, a relaxing atmosphere, and, above all, exceptional people. The staff's warmth and authentic Greek hospitality made this much more than a pleasant hotel stay—it felt like being welcomed by friends. We left already looking forward to our next visit.
Just had an 11 night stay at the hotel.
The location was great for us nice short transfer, shop within walking distance and plenty of lovely tavernas scattered around. We did have a car which made it easier.
The staff are incredible so friendly and always had smiles on their faces.
The rooms are spacious and exceptionally clean with fresh towels and coffee pods replaced daily. Beds and pillows were delightful.
We only had breakfast which was lovely with eggs cooked to order. The coffee wasn’t to my taste and was lukewarm and the fruit option could have been changed up but all in all a good buffet breakfast in a chilled atmosphere due to the number of guests it never felt crazy busy like some places.
Pool area is lovely always had beds available although they were not very comfortable for a 5* hotel and are not the wooden ones with mattresses as shown on many of the photographs.
The planes do fly directly above the hotel and are loud for a few seconds but we enjoyed watching them and there are not that frequent. They can be heard from the rooms and latest we heard one was 11pm and earliest around 8am.
The building site next door was the only bugbear we knew about it as we were informed before we arrived. We were told work would finish around 3pm daily but in reality it was 6pm we were also told we wouldn't hear it from our room. We could hear drilling and hammering when in the room with the balcony door closed but it was loudest when around the pool. We did get used to it but it would have been so much more relaxing without the noise.
All in all we had a fabulous stay and would return I just hope that with the extension to the hotel it doesn’t lose the boutique feel and personal touches that made it a great place to stay.
I had such a wonderful experience at the spa today. Although I’m not staying at the hotel, I booked a massage and I’m so glad I did.
My massage therapist, Antonia, was absolutely incredible. She was so friendly and kind, and gave one of the best massages I’ve ever had. I usually go for strong Thai massages, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from a relaxing massage, but it was fantastic. The pressure was perfect, and she really helped ease the pain and tension in my back. I left feeling so much better.
I’d also like to thank the lovely receptionist who welcomed me when I arrived. She and Antonia were both so warm and friendly, and they made me feel completely at ease. They also arranged for me to enjoy the sauna and steam room after my treatment, which made the whole experience even more relaxing.
Before my massage, I had lunch by the pool, and it was absolutely delicious. The food tasted incredibly fresh, the setting was beautiful, and the service was excellent. A thank you to Chris, who was so helpful and happy to offer advice for the rest of my stay in Kefalonia.
I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kefalonia. Even if you’re not staying there, it’s well worth booking a spa treatment and enjoying lunch. I’ll definitely be back!
I came here for a week in June with my husband. It delivered on every level. The view was incredible: purple sunsets, clear blue skies. The pace of life was calm and soothing. The food was delicious (we did half board and thought it was excellent value for money). The facilities were great: main pool was pretty, there were always plenty of sun loungers and you could have cocktails (/wonderful draught Alfa beers) delivered to you while you read a book. Other guests were generally respectful of the atmosphere - no loud conversations etc. - and that really helped contribute to the ambiance. The staff could not have been more friendly. The gym was decent enough for a week of workouts. You can take your pool towels down to the beach (where two sun loungers can be yours for 20€ per day) and if you want to rent bikes or a car, the concierge can arrange for them to be delivered to the hotel for you. If you’re looking for a stunning view, excellent facilities, friendly and helpful staff, delicious food, then you would struggle to find much better than this. It’s worth knowing that there are 4-15 flights per day that go overhead, but you get used to them and they don't run late into the night or early in the morning! Oh, and you can get to Argostoli by bus (30ish mins) and the bus stop is 100m from the hotel. Taxis from the airport are mysteriously 20€ (even though it's a 5 min journey) but some drivers are amenable to haggling. If you don’t want to eat lunch at the hotel every day, you can grab a sandwich and a beer from Tropicana, also about 100m from the hotel.
Our stay at Electra Kefalonia had some truly good moments. The hotel is beautiful, with modern and very comfortable rooms, complemented by a high-end infrastructure. The breakfast is excellent, and the location offers stunning views. The highlight of our stay was definitely the friendliness of the entire staff, who were consistently warm and welcoming. A special thanks to the bar team, who were always helpful, attentive, and provided impeccable service throughout our time there. The only downside was that, at certain points, some 'hotel policies' hindered the flow of our experience. These internal rules felt a bit rigid and didn't always align with the helpfulness of the staff or the relaxing atmosphere the hotel aims to provide. If these policies were more flexible to prioritize the guest experience, the stay would be flawless.
