This family-friendly resort is situated in southern Kefalonia, close to Avithos beach. This is a lovely, fertile region where olive trees and citrus orchards abound. The coastline faces the tiny island of Dias and offers magnificent views to the island of Zakynthos across the channel. The resort's location makes an ideal setting for a peaceful and tranquil holiday. The nearby village of Svoronata is never crowded with tourists so there are no intrusive noises or sights to hamper your relaxation and private time. The resort is a perfect place for a holiday and an ideal base for exploring the island. The nearby villages of Kaligata, Kourkoumelata and Metaxata are charming local villages each with its own character and history. Guests will find restaurants within 200 metres of the accommodation, whilst shops are 1 km away. The beach resort of Lassi and the capital of Argostoli are 8 and 10 km away respectively. The airport is 3 km away and the transfer takes approximately 20 minutes.
This air-conditioned resort is a brand new complex, which has been built in the traditional Kefalonian style and is set in spacious gardens. The living quarters are well designed and decorated, combining elegance and comfort and have all the amenities for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Property facilities include a lobby with hotel safe and currency exchange facilities, a café and snack bar, fax services and an Internet corner with WIFI access. Guests can relax in the TV lounge, which features satellite channels, and can leave their cars in the private car park. The resort offers disabled access.
Pamper yourself with on-site massages or enjoy recreation amenities such as an outdoor pool. This aparthotel also features complimentary wireless Internet access, a television in a common area and tour/ticket assistance.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Absolutely wonderful place to stay and have as a base to explore Kefalonia. Super friendly and helpful and smiley staff who always say hello to their guests. Everywhere is immaculate. Very quiet environment (even though the place was fully booked) We booked breakfast each morning and it was outstanding: so much choice, from feta pastries, Greek yoghurt parfaits, pastries, salad, cheeses and meats, to fresh fruit and bread and cakes. Our room was spacious with a lovely balcony overlooking the mountains. Beaches 15 mins walk away but there is a beautiful pool on-site. A totally perfect and relaxing place to stay!
Just returned from Avithos Resort in Kefalonia. The hotel itself is lovely — clean, well‑kept and set in beautiful surroundings — but there is a big downside that guests should be aware of. The nearest restaurant, bar or supermarket is at least a 25‑minute walk away, which is far from ideal for families, anyone with mobility issues, or anyone who simply doesn’t want a long walk every time they need something.
The hotel bar serves a very limited menu, and both food and drinks are expensive for what’s offered. The biggest disappointment was the hotel closing the entire pool and bar area for half a day due to a photo shoot. When I asked why guests weren’t informed, I was told there was a small sign at reception and that guests were expected to “understand the inconvenience.” For a resort of this standard, that level of communication and consideration is simply not good enough.
So impressed with our stay at Avithos. For the price you’re paying for Greece ( I would argue this is reasonable compared to others), and the quality of the hotel, this resort exceeds all expectations!
The hotel staff were so lovely, in particular the bar and breakfast ladies! I’ve seen below someone comment on rude bar people - we didn’t experience this at all. I did however experience customers being rude to them which is maybe why they were a bit grumpy back.
It felt very peaceful and simple, but done well. The pool area is immaculate, the pool always felt so clean, the grounds always kept tidy.
Location- this was our first time in Kefalonia and decided to stay south as we had a young toddler. We had a car and I think you’d struggle without a car unless you just wanted to stay in the hotel and go to the close proximity restAurents. I found the area quite sleepy and slow but nothing wrong with that, I grew to love it! Must go to Avithos beach (5 min drive-20/30 min walk)- so relaxing and beautiful!
Food- breakfast was delicious, and so was their bar snack menu.
Very kid friendly but also lots of couples, so as long as you’re aware of that! They do advertise as a family hotel.
Only minor negative if I had to be picky was the room. The bed me and my husband had was 2 singles pushed together which was slightly annoying as a gap would wedge open each night. Rooms always cleaned very nicely everyday though!

I wouldn’t say this is more like a 3 star resort! The only person that was friendly was the blonde lady behind reception Christine! When we arrived late on Monday we had to lug our cases upstairs to our room the lady that checked us in couldn’t be bothered and said come back in the morning for a map! The room was small but more worrying full of damp patches room 201 When I went to ask about keeping our room on or a late check out the lady (again dark hair) was on a call had me wait and didn’t even end the call to her friend but basically cut me short and said no! She was rude The bar staff don’t look very happy and you bearly get a look let alone a thank you I wouldn’t recommend this resort nor would I return You really need to sort out your receptionist and the marks in the room!
We stayed for 7 nights and overall had a really enjoyable stay. Our room, 110, was a good size and had a lovely patio. There was plenty of hanging space, although drawers were definitely lacking. The room had a hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and tea and coffee-making facilities. Unfortunately, the tea and coffee weren’t replenished during our stay. Towels were changed every three days, including pool towels, although the dirty pool towels weren’t removed. There was a good selection of toiletries. One of the unexpected highlights was discovering that we had a family of tortoises living outside our room! 🐢 They became our little neighbours and were definitely quieter than some of the human guests! The hotel itself was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was a good size, with a smaller children’s pool. There were lots of children using it, so it could get quite loud and boisterous at times, but with temperatures reaching around 36°C (feeling closer to 40°C), the pool was an absolute godsend. The pool bar was clean and the staff were friendly. Prices were typical hotel prices — around €5 for a Diet Coke and €15 for a Bramble cocktail. The main downside for us was the location. It’s at least a 15-minute walk to the supermarket and restaurants, and in the heat it felt considerably longer! There are a couple of bars about the same distance away, so a taxi is worth considering if you don’t fancy the walk. Google Maps and TripAdvisor were invaluable for finding places to visit and eat, and I would definitely recommend booking restaurants and excursions in advance. We visited Dum Spiro Spero and Esperides, which we enjoyed, but Crazy George’s didn’t really impress us. Sarris Winery is definitely worth the walk — €5 for a glass of wine in beautiful surroundings was excellent value. One of the highlights of the holiday was the Sea and Sun boat trip with Ace Travel/Jet2 on The Queen Bee from Argostoli harbour. It cost €75 each for the day and was worth every penny. We were picked up from a bus stop close to the hotel and dropped back at the hotel around 5pm, which made it really easy. We also took a taxi back to Argostoli two days later for an evening and would highly recommend doing this. The hotel arranged the taxi for €20, and the taxi back from the square was €25. We ate at Van de Rossa on the harbour front, which was fabulous and definitely worth a visit. Overall A lovely, clean and friendly hotel with a good pool and helpful staff. The location means you need to be prepared for some walking, particularly in the heat, but taxis are easy enough to arrange and there are plenty of great places to explore. We’d definitely recommend the hotel — and if you get room 110, look out for the tortoise family! 🐢
