- Mediterranee Hotel

The hotel is situated in the southwest side of Kefalonia Island and specifically in the tranquil surroundings of the Lassi coastline just 2km from Argostoli, the capital city of Kefalonia. Set just above a small sandy beach. The hotel offers spectacular view to the bay of Lixouri. The crystal clear waters make the beach ideal for swimming but also exploring the seabed. A large swimming pool with section for children, a tennis court, a ping-pong table or nights with live Greek music are only some of the kinds of entertainment offered by the hotel.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Lovely location but at the bottom of a hill if you struggle with walking ,beach is also very nice .The rooms are very dated and our pillowcase hadn't been changed from previous guests still makeup on them and some long haires.. the cleaning through the week got no better towels only changed twice and sheets not at all bathroom bin also didn't get emptied, shower was above a bath on a hose that depending on time of day if you got hot or cold water . Breakfast was different!!! . This has been a great hotel in its day but now in need of lots of TLC ..not four stat .
As always a lovely stay with excellent staff, kept beautifully clean and splendid upgrading to the restaurant, reception and corridors. Breakfast even better than before but best avoided after 9am as this was the busy time. The rooms were perfectly nice with basic needs were well served to a good standard. The only negative was the rather slimy pool with tons of sand at the sides and grease floating on the surface. By 9am most of the decent sunbeds were towelled whilst the British culprits had enjoyed a lie in and a late breakfast. I don’t think there is any point having a rule that sunbeds shouldn’t be reserved if they don't enforce it. Parents were coating their children with suntan cream then letting them get straight in the pool 🫤. We rarely used the pool for these reasons also it was far too noisy. Next time we will visit in June when it’s mainly couples and normality returns. One final surprise was being warmly greeted by Lambros, the previous Maître D who was in the reception area when we checked out. We missed his warmth in the restaurant.
Perfect location. However if you do struggle to walk a bit, remember there is a steep 200m walk to get up onto the strip. Massive problem with the towels on sunbeds, both around the pool and on the beach. All British culprits by the way. Rooms ok but a little noisy. Breakfast is very good, just go a little earlier to enjoy it peacefully. Staff very good. We were in room 17 and there is a pump noise outside somewhere all the through the night.
Staff accommodation is just 50 metres up the hill on the left. There bins are right on the road so you will endure the smell each time you leave and return to the hotel.
Just stayed here for a week , first time in Kefalonia , all I can say is wish we’d come to this beautiful island years ago . We chose Mediterranee after reading the excellent reviews, and can see why . The hotel is spotlessly clean , yes as others have said the rooms are a bit dated , but what makes the hotel is the staff who go above and beyond to ensure you have a wonderful stay . There are a lot of repeat guests who keep returning and it’s easy to say why . The hotel is centrally located , 15 mins from airport , a stunning beach right in front of hotel , lovely pool area , some beds were reserved early but you could get one any time of the day . The beach sunbeds however were a different matter , very popular and most had gone by 10am . You need to go down by about 9 to get one . 10euros for two sunbeds and a parasol if you are staying at Mediterranee. We were half board , the breakfast was excellent , loads of choice to suit everyone , buffet style and staff worked hard to ensure dishes were replenished frequently . Small criticism would be the hot food was luke warm , and wish it was hotter . The evening meals were hit and miss , some evenings better than others . If we were to return we would only go B& B as the restaurants in Lassi only a short walk away up a hill are plentiful and lovely ones to choose from . We ate out a few evenings our favourite being Da Veronica’s . We did a TUI trip whilst we were there ‘ Discover Kefalonia ‘ went to some caves , small villages including Fiskardo , highly recommend this trip , saw some beautiful places . Special mention to the bar staff who looked after us so well in the evening . But must make a special mention to Lambros, what a lovely gentleman, great character and even spoke some words and phrases in Welsh to us , always smiling and welcoming and would engage in conversation with us . Just a couple of shall negatives, ladies the hairdryers in bathroom are not the best , you have to keep your finger on the button the whole time which is very frustrating , they are not very powerful. Also pool towels are not very big and only cover half the sunbed . But aside these very minor things we will definitely return to this lovely hotel in the future . Photo attached of us taken with bar staff .
The Hotel Mediterranee is fabulous, wonderful location right on a sand beach and only 250m form the main strip of tavernas. (albeit up a bit if a hill). The hotel itself is superb, lovely rooms, immaculately clean and great facilities. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.
There is no need to set an alarm to wake up before the birds, in order to get a sunbed.(this is not Spain after all). there are plenty to choose from and are available all day. The beach gets very busy early and spaces are at a premium. They do charge residents 20 euros per pair of beds. They also don't play music all day around the pool, apart the peace and quite, you get the wonderful sound of the cicada's. Along with and amazing view of the bay.
Food at the hotel is ok, a decent choice at breakfast. Plenty of fresh fruit, yoghurt, pastries, eggs (they manage to find endless ways to prepare an egg) would only recommend bed and breakfast though, as there is loads of choice in Lassi, and lets face it why would you want to be stuck in the same restaurant, when Kefalonia has som much to offer. Argostoli is only 5 minutes by taxi. (8 euros each way).
I would definitely recommend choosing this hotel, it suits lone travellers, couples and families. We travelled as family of 4 with 9 and 13 year old girls and we all loved it.
