Pool

First time trying all inclusive, a beautiful part of the country and a spacious clean hotel. 
Food- plenty of fresh ingredients and a good selection of salads, breads etc. A good way to get the best out of the food is to walk around and plan a meal otherwise you might end up with a mishmash on a plate. Take a good luck at the many condiments which can really enhance your meal. We had 3 or 4 small courses for our evening meal, nothing ran out so you can take your time . Note cups in rooms are small so consider taking a mug and you’ll have to buy milk in the on site shop 3.20 euro.
The A.I. drinks- beer is 3% which is refreshing but not the best, we found the rose to be the best of the wines, the spirits aren’t recognised brands but are plentiful at the pool and main bars. Cocktails a bit syrupy. Not grown up!
The only pool is unheated, the beach is easily accessible and beautiful with crystal clear, warm water. It’s well worth taking a mask and snorkel. Sadly there were a few cigarette butts around in places but overall it felt clean. Keep the scrap of paper if you hire the beach towels as you need to get it signed to redeem your deposit.
The rooms are fine, take insect repellent as mosquitoes enter the room when the cleaners have the door open for some time while cleaning, especially if the room is near the stairs. The beds are comfortable and the shower is good.
There are 2 boat hire facilities, we used the right hand one looking out to sea, they aren’t affiliated to the hotel and seem to charge 30euro for fuel no matter how far you go!
The staff are very friendly and most speak 3 languages fluently.

A  relaxing hotel

I loved the hotel, it buildings are to quite a high standard. Rooms more than acceptable. A good size with air-conditioning, powerful shower, nicely decorated. Balcony had a beautiful view. The location is spectacular for me. I certainly would visit again.

Down side - I felt the food let the hotel down. Although there was a good selection for all nationalities, the standard was not as I would expect. Even the local greek dishes lacked authenticity & flavour. It did feel that everything was done on the cheap.
It's such a shame as it wouldn't take a huge change to have a dramatic impact on the overall impression of our visit. Food is such an important part of an all-inclusive holiday. 
However, you wouldn't go hungry. 
Drinks - as a non drinker, there were really no adult options available in the all-inclusive.  It was 5€ for a non alcoholic beer at the time of our visit. Locally, the cost was 1.5€ for the same drink. The non alcoholic cocktails were limited & were just syrup & dispensed pop. Very sickly after a couple. 
It appears that alcoholic drinks were readily available & more than acceptable.

The staff we encountered were exceptionally friendly & helpful & are an asset to the hotel.

Local transport was great, local buses are a bargain but there is a limited timetable.
Booked excursions on trip advisor rather than at the increased prices via the hotel (this is normal for any hotel and no reflection on this hotel at all).

The pool was a little chilly, but I felt it was superb.

I do recommend this hotel. 

Positive visit - food needs some improvement - I would visit again.

We booked a seven night all inclusive with Tui for the first week of October. Transfer from Thessaloniki was in a minibus that stopped at one other hotel close to Akrathos. The journey took about 2hrs.

Hotel facilities:
- The hotel is generally modern, clean, well-decorated. 
- In the off season there were plenty of sun loungers and seats for dinner. 
- Our room had a kettle, fridge, safe, air conditioning, TV with local channels, large walk-in shower with great water pressure, and you can ask for an iron and ironing board. We had two single beds and asked these to be made up as a double, on second time of asking this then happened. 
- The hotel owns the beach across the road so sun loungers are free, the front row cabanas are extra. 
- Sandy and pebbly beach is amazing for swimming, snorkelling. Some days it was choppy but it never felt unsafe to swim.   
- Swimming pool is unheated, at the time of year we visited perhaps too cold to be enjoyed. It has uniform depth of 1.7m. The infinity effect does not work due to limescale/dirt covering the perspex barrier. 

All inclusive offerings: 
- We always found something we enjoyed at the All Inclusive buffet, especially the salads, dips, vegetable and octopus dishes. Breakfast included eggs, French toast, cold cheeses. If you are vegan you would likely struggle although they do have vegan cheeses in the cold selection. There are lots of strange meat choices, boiled sausage etc. to appeal to a certain clientele, which we steered clear of. The local olives are very salty!
- Greek Night and "Latino Night" offered some of the tastiest food (Friday and Sunday nights for us). 
- Included drinks are basic. Local/unbranded spirits and mixers, beer, and wine on tap (the most palatable combination we found was the white wine as a spritz). Spirits are served at the pool or main bar, the beach bar has beer or soft drinks.
- Coffee was very poor. AI offered instant machine coffee that was not drinkable. You can pay for fresh coffee at the pool bar. They have a selection of teas.
- Ready provision of drinking water was great to see.
- Cocktails of the day: two options each day (see pictures), variable taste, not very strong and quite sugary. Also selection of mocktails. 
- Pool bar offers cake and biscuits at 4pm, they don't always bring this out automatically unless you ask for it. 
- One visit per week to the 'A La Cart' restauraunt La Taverna. You choose from a set menu, drinks are not included. The food was nice and it was a different experience to the buffet. 

Activities
- You can organise excursions from the hotel, hire bikes or rent a car. They have a tennis court, Kids Club, amphitheatre, and offered petanque and beach volleyball.
- We hired a boat from Nikos (South end of the beach), it was 80 Euros for the day for a medium boat with 30 extra for fuel. The boat broke down once and we had to "jiggle the battery" to restart it. Otherwise it was a fantastic day, would absolutely recommend doing this to explore Ammouliani and the smaller nearby islands. 
- We walked to Ouranopoli (about 25 mins, no pavement along main road, but an easy walk) to take a boat tour with Athos Cruises to see Mount Athos. We took the public bus back (2 euros each). Ouranopoli has amazing restaurants (Zorbas in particular) and some tourist shopping. 
- Hotel had themed nights - Saxophonist performance, Karaoke, and Greek Night with live band and traditional dancing.

Main likes:
- Swimming at the beach and having a beer at the beach bar.
- There is free wifi which was fast throughout the hotel and on the beach.
- Beautiful views and secluded location. 
- Room was clean, comfy, and had a balcony with airer to dry swimwear. 

Dislikes
- People smoke throughout the hotel terraces constantly. There is no demarkation between smoking and non-smoking, lots of the seating is under cover so it gets really stuffy and smelly, setting off asthma and making our clothes and hair stink. It would be really good if the hotel offered a non-smoking section in the main outdoor seating zone, and on the beach. It was almost unbelievable how hard it was to get away from people smoking!
- Some of the other guests could be very rude!
- On Friday and Saturday night, the hotel seemed to swell in population, meaning very long queues and poor etiquette at the buffet. 
- Buffet Food can be repetitive and we wished they had more local/authentic dishes, which they did very well, compared to 'Western' food.
- Beach towels require ten euro deposit and three euro fee if you want to exchange for clean towels however you can get around this. 

Overall we had a great stay and liked lots about the hotel, particularly the location (with long transfer being the flipside of this..). There are a few things it should improve on. We had a good deal and wouldn't have wanted to pay more than we did.

Lovely hotel, shame about the smoking

We stayed at this hotel for 10 nights in September 2024.
The transfer is 2 hours and we were in a mini bus with no air conditioning so sweltering!
Wish we had done our research better (our own fault not the hotels) - there was nothing around us and we like walking but really not anywhere to walk other than the highway.
Our room was clean and comfortable and hot showers which was lovely.
We had a lovely balloon gift on arrival in our room as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary - a nice thought.
The pool area was nice although they did not open the pool until 10am each day and I do like to have an early morning swim before children and inflatables arrive!
There were plenty of sunbeds to choose from and the beach was amazing - a bit of a walk so not for people with mobility issues.
We were disappointed that the bar was downstairs as there is a lovely seating area in the reception area but if you wanted a drink you were up and down stairs!
We have been to many 4 star hotels and have always had service at our table for drinks during meal times (breakfast and dinner) but here you do have to help yourself which for me does not make this a 4 star hotel.
The food was very limited for vegetarians (which both my husband and I are).

Overall we did have a pleasant stay but personally I would rate this a 3 star hotel mostly based on other 4 star hotels that we have stayed at.

SEPTEMBER 2024 STAY

After reading a mix of reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect. We were so pleasantly surprised. The most stunning sea views, pool, and access to private beach too.

There is a walkway to the beach which avoids the steep hill, and an on demand golf buggy that will take you to and from the beach - our rep told us that these can be ordered from reception/the beach bar, although we didn't use this service as it is less than five minutes to walk anyway. 

The food was great too, not a huge choice but different every lunch/dinner, and very good quality. The bars are all inclusive for beer, soft drinks and wine, however there are only two cocktails of the day which are included. There are other cocktails, but you have to pay - I think around six or seven euros each. 

Our room was lovely, we had a sea view which we didn't book - such a bonus! It was overlooking a small carpark too. If I had to give one negative, it would  be that housekeeping aren't great, we noticed that throughout the week our water glasses didn't get changed, and the room (although immaculate when we arrived), did not get thoroughly cleaned every day.

You have to pay for beach towels, we read this in other reviews so brought our own. 

Ouranopolis is around 30-40 minute walk away, technically it is along a road but some parts you can go along the beach. Stunning views all the way. You can also get a taxi, it was less than 10 euros each way. As a side note, highly recommend 'Original Greek Gyros' restaurant in town, the four euro gyros were delicious and absolutely massive.

Fantastic Hotel

Set in the green hills of Mount Athos, Akrathos Beach HoteI in Ouranoupoli Village, features a swimming pool and a children's pool. It offers accommodations with a balcony.
