Set in the green hills of Mount Athos, Akrathos Beach HoteI in Ouranoupoli Village, features a swimming pool and a children's pool. It offers accommodations with a balcony. Facilities include a fitness center and a restaurant. Reflecting the monasteries in architecture and style, the beach hotel Akrathos offers spacious and carefully decorated rooms with mini fridge and satellite TV. Some units have a sea view. In Akrathos Beach Hotel guests will also find a variety of bars at the pool, main building and the beach, a restaurant and traditional tavern, a jewelry shop and a supermarket. Greek breakfast is served daily in the dining area. Other facilities include billiards and table tennis. Water sports, as well as volleyball games are organized on the beach. Α free WiFi hotspot is also available on the beach.
Relax on the private beach or enjoy other recreational amenities such as an outdoor pool and an outdoor tennis court. Additional amenities at this hotel include complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services and babysitting (surcharge). Guests can catch a ride to nearby destinations on the local area shuttle (surcharge).
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Mostly good points, but some points to consider. The situation of this hotel is lovely. The views across the bay to the island is stunning, with great sunsets. The hotel is very clean and staff work very hard to keep the areas clean and tidy, and will collect your empty plate or glass almost before you've finished. Food is good and we really enjoyed the fact that the food was very traditional, especially on the Greek night. The room was a good size and the bed was very comfy. Plenty of storage space and decent shower. We went to the beach each day and there wasn't a problem finding beds. These are well spaced out, so you can move the beds to suit whether you want sun or shade. I would recommend wearing beach shoes though as although it says a sandy beach, it's not all soft sand. There's a beach bar for the all inclusive guests, but only beer, soft drinks or coffee, anything else is chargeable. Music is played continuously through the day, but it was enjoyable and not too loud. The manager was very visible on a daily basis making sure that the guests were happy. The hotel runs a mini bus service to Ouranopoli for 5 euros pp, or a taxi will cost 10 euros. It's a very pretty little place and worth a visit. Now the negatives, There isn't a toilet on the beach, so there's a steep climb back towards the hotel for the nearest one. Another down side is the transfer from the airport, which was over 2 hours. Also, there was only 2 nights in the week with any entertainment, one was a sax player, who was very good and the guests were soon up dancing to his music and the other was the Greek band and dancers. We felt that this was where the hotel fell down on the lack of entertainment. We enjoyed our holiday for the beautiful surroundings, but we wouldn't go back again because of the distance and lack of entertainment.

Very comfortable and clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, excellent service, good food, and a beautiful, clean beach. We really enjoyed our stay at Akrathos Beach Hotel and would definitely recommend it!
A hotel that deserves five stars. We stayed here with my family for a week and we really liked everything. The hotel is located on a mountain, so we had a very nice view of the sea. The food was very tasty, everything was very clean, the staff was friendly, nice and polite, they did everything to make us feel welcome. thank you very much, we will definitely visit the hotel again
I stayed 5 nights on an all inclusive basis with my mum. I work in hospitality management and travel marketing, so I've written this for future guests and, I hope, for management too.
The good The hotel is lovely. Most of the main areas are modern and everything was very clean. The staff were friendly and approachable throughout, and almost everyone spoke some English, which we really appreciated. The buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner had good variety and good quality. No complaints there. Towels are free with a €10 deposit per towel, which you get back when you return the slip at the end.
Accessibility I wouldn't recommend this hotel for anyone with walking difficulties. It's built on a hill, with lots of stairs and a lot of walking between areas.
Pool and beach The pool was always empty, because it was icy cold. Not the kind of cold you get used to once you start moving. The kind where you stay cold and shrivel up. The sea was actually warmer, so we spent every day at the beach. The catch is that the beach bar only serves beer on the all inclusive, so every time we wanted a glass of wine we had to walk up the steep hill to the pool bar. Combined with having no toilet at the beach, that's a lot of uphill trips in the heat.
The all inclusive: read this before booking It's a very basic package and there are a lot of catches:
À la carte restaurant You can book this 3 days in advance, and you have to pre-order four courses (appetiser, salad, main and dessert) from a set menu. Our food arrived cold. The starters were dry, the battered halloumi was too tough to cut, and the chicken and pork mains were tough and looked grey and fatty. The salad was nice and the dessert was rich. What really frustrated us: you can see the main bar from your table, but you can't bring a drink over from it. The food is included, but every drink is charged, even water and soft drinks. For an all inclusive guest that seems ridiculous. Another option is to turn up on the night without booking. You get a different (better) menu, but you pay for everything, with a 25% discount.
Rooms The rooms were dark and poorly lit. They weren't properly cleaned every day. Towels weren't replaced, mirrors weren't wiped, floors weren't mopped or hoovered and empty glasses were left behind. Mostly the duvet got folded at the end of the bed and that was it.
Entertainment The animation team was two lovely young women, but the entertainment was weak. Bingo was a single round that finished after eight numbers. Quiz night wasn't promoted, only two tables took part, and it was one round of "name the song". Greek night had three dancers and two guitarists, but the "dancing" was mostly walking in a circle holding hands, with the occasional high kick. Entertainment runs 5 nights out of 7 and repeats every week, so if you're staying two weeks, expect to get bored.
Suggestions for management Pool: Heat the pool, or at least be upfront that it's unheated. As it stands, it's a big facility that nobody uses.
Beach: Add wine to the beach bar's all inclusive offering and put in a toilet at or near the beach. Both would save guests a lot of trips up a steep hill.
Animation team: Be visible during the day, chat to guests at the pool and bar, and wear branded t-shirts. We often couldn't tell the team apart from guests or other staff. Planning a proper multi-round quiz or bingo takes very little effort these days.
Signage: A few signs need fixing. The public toilets say "We wash our hands" when they mean "Please wash your hands", and the room sign saying "the tap water is potable" left us unsure whether it was safe to drink. A quick translation check would sort both.
Downstairs bar: The bar under the lobby feels dated and needs a revamp to match the rest of the resort.
Guest feedback: The manager walks round every day asking "is everything good?", but he doesn't seem to want to hear the answer. When we told him a guest had lost his wedding ring in the sea, he replied "good weather today, right?" Asking for feedback only helps if you actually listen and follow up.
Overall It's a nice hotel and we had a nice holiday. But it's a basic all inclusive with some questionable habits. If you're after a clean, pretty base and you're not fussed about drinks or entertainment, you'll be happy. If you're expecting a full all inclusive experience, set your expectations lower
So arrived at The hotel a week ago tuesday 29rh from gatwick , on arrival all seemed good we were put in a room facing The car park and it was a very dark room , so that wasnt a great start . We were on a all inclusive we brlieved( this is all inclusive on The cheap ) only beer and wine ( which we believe are all zero alcohol) people we met agreed , you can only have cocktails out of a pre mixed machine weak and taste nothing like any cocktails we have ever tasted . You can only have beer from The beach bar on The beach in all inclusive no wine no cocktails only soft drinks coffee tea and beer ( no de caf coffee in all inclusive ) in The hotel at all , no snacks from beach bar in all inclusive either at beach no food . Beach towels you pay 10 euros for and get back when returned end of stay thats ok however you cant change towels daily only every 3 days wet dirty or other wise tough ! Good in restaurant was ok dont bother with a la carte evening ( you have to book three days in advsnce ) no idea why it was all pre prepared ( icy cold greek salad chicken dish wasnt warm ket alone hot and halloumi cheese rock hard , veal pitta was dry meat in pastry very chewy not good , you cant have drinks with that meal unless you pay ( yet where you are seated is next to The bar where you get your inclusive wine and beer from zero alcohol remember ) The manager walks around all day with a blue tooth ear piece in all day long and hes not intetested in anything you have to say unless its posative hes just there but not for any purpose . Entertainment in evening s is Nil and void its sad , 2 girls running it doing their best but its bad bingo one line on a sheet then it was over quiz night due to start at 8.45 started at 8.15 so 4 people took part as people were still at dinner greek night very loud music and three dancers doing same dance over and over again, young Lad involved clearly thought he was Michael flattly and he so wasnt ( he wore The gear with one kicking leg movement he had no idea ) . The upside is ( is there one i hear you ask ......) yes staff well trained ,The cleanliness and attention to detail they are all young and all work very very hard ( bar girl in pool bar could do with visitingThe personality shop to purchase one she was miserable every single day without fail lovely finger Nails but a miserable face . The final point never ever have we visited a hotel where only 2 guests use The gorgeous look this hotel has as it is soooooooo icy cold its shocking . The weather was warm and sunny and The sea was warm but The pool with a pountless life guard as no one used it ever such a waste . So The all inclusive that really isnt is a hotel worth avoiding , as your expected to spend more money on decent drinks in general and food on The beach its not what you believe your going to get its a basic hotel been tum on a shoe string great clean staff doing The best they can , for a manager who does not Care with a 1970s down stairs bar lounge very depressing and dated . They close 15th october till april i believe if you plan to visit all inclusive i advise you to re think its a con . From mrs n McDermott
