Anastasia Hotel

There was 4 of us with 2 rooms so i emailed the hotel weeks in advance requesting adjoing rooms or very near if possible. On arrival late at night we were allocated our rooms but in different blocks ! Said we could try in the morning to relocate but didnt bother as we were unpacked. Been here a week and we have had hardly any sleep the beds are rock hard you feel bruised when getting up. I told reception and she said sorry but were out of toppers but got the maid to fold some blankets under . It did help a little but still very uncomfy. Also the rooms are very noisy you hear the noise from above below and sides even at 2am toilets being flushed etc.. The pool area is nice and there are always plenty of sun beds. The cocktail drinks and shorts at the bar are expensive especialy the cocktails . They do x2 happy hour n halfs a day . Buy one soft drink for €3.50 get one free or €4 for a beer buy a large draft get a free half . No deals on the cocktails theyre better in the village. The food is quite good with plenty of choice. And the twins are very efficient at tidying your plates away.😁 The crazy golf is terrible . Ripped sufraces . Ping pong table bent ,the bats crap. There is entertainment at night but we didnt stop becsuse of the price of drinks and better venues down the road. The hotel is nice how its set out but in need of upgrading the rooms beds and soundproofing.

Spent a week here, last week of July (2026) and having read some of the other reviews I feel quite disappointed on the hotels behalf. The staff were lovely and always helpful, food was good - buffet style, some was hot, some was a salad bar, both had plenty of choices. Our room was basic but absolutely fine as a base/somewhere to sleep with great aircon. It was meticulously cleaned and couldn't fault. We always managed to get a sun lounger around the lower pool. Pools were clean and checked regularly. Didn't need to cross the main road directly as there was an underpass close to the hotel - 20 ish mins walk into towns. Although evening entertainment, it was fairly quiet in the evenings, but I'm led believe it's not as busy generally in Crete at the moment. Only wish list would be able to make tea/coffee in our room. Overall, it is what you'd expect in it's price bracket. Would recommend.

I have just returned from 10 days here. Overall we had a lovely trip but I would not recommend this hotel to friends or family.

Pro’s: Location- for us it was a great location around 15 minutes walk either to Stalida town or Malia old town, it’s on a main bus route and fairly close to beaches. Malia old town is beautiful and a great place to walk around and have dinner! However if you have young children or struggle with steps or walks this is not the hotel for you. Pools- 3 clean and good size pools with lots of sunbeds. We were always able to find a sunbed. Staff- Staff were friendly and helpful, they helped us get the bus, hire a car and gave us good local recommendations. A/C- The air con was good enough (it’s not common in the UK so for my standards it kept the room cool and if anything I got a bit too cold at night). Pool Bar- a bar near the pool selling a wide range of soft drinks and alcohol for decent prices (more than at local shops but that is to be expected), it was open from around 11 am till late. Breakfast- There was always a wide range of options; eggs cooked differently, bread for toast, coffee machines, juice, limited fresh fruit (could have been more), pastries, greek yogurt. It was not the best breakfast I have ever had but every day I was able to find food I wanted and it tasted ok. Special shout out to the french toast they did on two days!!!! Absolutely amazing!

Cons- Noise! If you are a light sleeper make a request to be away from the road and bar area. The night entertainment went on till late (past midnight) and did keep us up. The beds are terrible! They are so hard and gave us back and hip pain. We both ended up napping on sun loungers due to lack of sleep! The beds alone are the biggest reason I would not recommend this place! Sun-loungers are plenty but many broken or uncomfortable. They are very low to the ground and my partner had a hard tome getting up and down from them.

Personally I wouldn’t stay here again, however I rarely visit the same place twice anyway. We did meet some lovely people here who do come back so clearly there is appeal.
