- Minos Hotel

Centrally located in Rethymno on the northern coast of Crete, this hotel provides the ideal base for exploring the island or simply relaxing on pristine sand and pebble beaches. The hotel is only a two-minute walk from the famous Rethymno sandy beach, where visitors can swim in the crystal-clear turquoise water and enjoy a variety of water sports; and just a short walk from the town centre and its narrow streets, shops, taverns, small Venetian harbour and ancient cultural and historical sites. The hotel's guestrooms are modern and cosy with private en suite bathroom, air-conditioning, private balcony or terrace, internet access, and refrigerator, and the hotel offers an extensive list of facilities and services, including 24-hour reception, room service, and medical services. Guests can also enjoy exquisite and light Mediterranean style meals in the hotel's café, lobby bar, and open-air poolside restaurant or buffet-style restaurant.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
The ladies at the front desk are very kind and welcoming. The beach is close, 3 minutes walk in straight line. We enjoyed breakfast and the orange juice, but something has to change in the kitchen as unfortunately, some dishes are tasteless and the ice cream which has no flavour is served from a dirty rusty fridge. The pool is small for a four stars hotel.
The room was spacious, with bathrobes, slippers, fridge with bottles of water but the balcony was tiny. The matress and the pillows were confortable.
There is also entertainement for kids in the evening.
Nevertheless I would have liked to hear traditional greek music instead of boring american tunes. We were in Greece not in the US.
The hotel needs a facelift at the exterior as it looks dated. The ground around it is dry with dry plants , nobody cares to water them.
There are plenty of supermarkets, shopping places, bars and restaurants in close proximity. The Old Town is 30 minutes away on foot, or you can take the bus no. 20 opposite the hotel.
We had a wonderful stay at Minos Hotel! The service was excellent from the moment we arrived. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere throughout our stay. The food was absolutely delicious, with a great variety of fresh and tasty dishes every day. Everything exceeded our expectations, and we truly enjoyed every moment. We highly recommend Minos Hotel and would love to come back again!
Great experience a d expectation for families. Although the pool seems a little small for the busy period, the holiday reps are definitely making it worth playing in the pool. The staff at all level are polite, available and courteous.
Great vacation. Staff was great!
Reception staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. A special mention goes to Timothy from the entertainment team, who was fantastic both day and night. He was always friendly, approachable, and never pushy when encouraging guests to join in the activities.
We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. The food was ok overall, with plenty of choice, although some of the more popular items often ran out.
We stayed in a family suite located in a separate building across a small road from the main hotel. The room was spacious, and the air conditioning worked very well, however, the bathroom was completely open plan with no door, which proved quite difficult as we were a three-generation family sharing the room.
The main pool area isn't large enough for the size of the hotel, and many guests were reserving sunbeds very early in the morning. I agree with previous reviews that the cleanliness wasn’t great and there is always a green film around the pool. The children's pool is located at the front of the hotel, which always felt a little unsafe.
The hotel is situated on the outskirts of the old town. There are several restaurants along the beachfront within a five-minute walk, but for a wider choice of restaurants, shops, and a livelier atmosphere, it's around a 20-minute walk into the old town.
Overall, we had an enjoyable stay. The friendly staff, particularly Timothy, were a real highlight, but there are a few areas where the hotel could improve, particularly the pool facilities and the family suite bathroom layout.
