The hotel is in the perfect location very close to the long sandy beach of Rethymno, which is only 60m away, while a variety of restaurants, shops, cafes and tavernas can also be found in the immediate vicinity. The centre of Rethymno, with the old quarter, is located just 500 m away. The walk there takes guests along a beautiful scenic coastal route offering fantastic vistas. Public transport can also be accessed in the immediate vicinity. In addition, Nikos Kazantzakis International Airport in Heraklion is 75 km away.
This newly built apartment hotel consists of 58 studios and apartments spread over 5 floors. It has a lobby with 24-hour reception and lift access. Dining facilities and a TV room are also offered.
The accommodation is modern in style. Individually adjustable air conditioning and heating, fully-equipped kitchenette, mini-fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, balcony, direct dial telephone, music channel, TV, safe deposit box, en suite bathroom with shower and hairdryer feature as standard.
Guests can enjoy a variety of water sports on the long sandy beach of Rethymno, which is just a few minutes away from the hotel. There is also a swimming pool with poolside snack bar, sun loungers and parasols. The beach also comes equipped with sun loungers and parasols.

Stayed here for two weeks at the end of July. From the beginning the staff were delightful, friendly and helpful from check-in and I checkout and every day on between. The breakfast had everything we needed and then some. The rooms were clean, air-conditioned had good beds and a modern bathroom.
The pool-area was busy one week and we had to be early if we wanted to stay there instead of taking the short trip down to the beach. The second week we had no problems finding sunbeds. The pool area is clean and sheltered from the wind, and an alternative if the waves are too big one day.
There’s plenty of restaurants in the area and we never struggled finding a table or a subbed on the beach, even in high season. We were not bothered by partying kids or loud nightlife due to a combo of good windows and location.
We would be more than happy to stay here if we return to Rethymno. Make sure you sponsor a turtle if you decide to go.
Excellent boutique hotel with high standards in all areas. One block in from beach and 15 minute walk to edge of Old Town. We arrived to the hotel at midnight, and found out that our room was not ready. We were put in a suite for 1 night and told to check out the next morning. Next morning the room was still not ready. We could not unpack anything, had to wait several hours. Rude staff. Stressful. Tiny cold pool only about 1 m deep.

My fiancée and I have stayed in hotels in many countries, such as: France, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Thailand and the USA. But we have never felt so welcomed as at Hotel Melrose by Mage in Rethymno.
All the staff were nice and greeted us when we met or needed help with something.
The reception staff took care of us and showed us around. They knew everything about the hotel and the city and gave us good information that we found useful.
The kitchen staff greeted us with a smile and made us feel comfortable - and actually - made us feel at home. The breakfast buffet was both plentiful and tasty and we can admit that it was one of the highlights of the day.
Our friendly cleaning lady was very skilled and meticulous. In fact, we have never, in all the hotels we have stayed at, had our room cleaned so well.
We appreciated the hotel pool where you could cool off after lying on a sunbed in the strong sun. The pool area was always clean and tidy and there were enough sunbeds.
On the lower ground floor there was a large jacuzzi, with a rippling wall of water, which you could sit and relax in.
There was also the option of taking a sauna if you wanted.
Next to the jacuzzi there was a room with a fair amount of equipment for exercise. There were also several well-kept toilets on that floor.
It was only 80 metres down to the beach and it cost 5 euros to rent a sunbed.
We can imagine coming back to Melrose more times.
