Fabulous holiday

Everything was wonderful! Great staff, location, beautiful beach, wonderful breakfast and dinner

Lovely Hotel

We have just returned from Casa Adele… it’s a really lovely and chilled hotel. The rooms, the pools and the general spaces are immaculate. The grounds are also very well maintained. It’s quite beautiful. As others have said, the staff are lovely. All very accommodating and helpful. Reception team in particular were wonderful.. Vivi was delightful. As a team they organised taxi’s for us, a hire car with their recommended company, advice on local attractions, nothing was too much trouble. The private beach was just a few steps away across the road and was never crowded. There is a very close by water sports kiosk also if you want some added fun (not included). Snorkelling is quite good in the sea too, lots of fish to see. The beach was very lovely, it’s again well kept (although the showers didn’t work) and the sunset from down there was just spectacular. There was never an issue getting a comfy sunbed there in the day. Pool areas can get busy but even at 9:30 there were still beds free. (There is also a pile of stackable additional sunbeds around each pool for guest use) Couple of tips to know about: the hotel provides beach/pool towels so you can save on suitcase space, we didn’t use ours at all. You can swap your half board dinner slot for a lunch slot just let them know the day before, so you can free up your evening if you wish. More kimited than dinner service but it’s still plenty (Greek salad, breads wth dips & the choice of chicken or fish with chips. chicken nuggets for the kids.. sometimes pizza). If you wish to pay for your lunch they have a more comprehensive lunch menu available. There is yoga twice a week and the gym is pretty well equipped if you care for that. There are a couple of things preventing me from giving a five star review though. 1. we paid extra for a specific room that had 2 bathrooms. When we arrived, were not informed of any issue but taken to a different room which was smaller than the one booked. Reception told us “there is a plumbing issue but it will be ready for you on Wednesday” (2 days later). Had we not questioned it, would they have left us in that room? We got a complimentary lunch for the trouble (because we asked, not be cause it was immediately offered) but on the Wednesday morning when asking about timings I was told that the “people in your room are due to check out at 11 so the room should be ready by 1pm if not sooner”. So essentially they seem to allow themselves to be oversubscribed and move people around during their holiday. Maybe this is standard hotel practice but it was a first for us and not being able to settle in the room straight away was not ideal. 2. On occasion (not every occasion) there was quite a wait for someone to take the drinks order at dinner… We were not approached more than once at any dinner slot for drinks. So we only ever had one drink at dinner. If you go to the bar they were too busy to take any orders so you really did need to be served. Neither of these things ruined our holiday of course, it’s just the difference between a 4 and a 5 for me. The hotel is located along a nice strip of shops, restaurants and bars so there is plenty to do at any time. Rethynmo is the nearest big town and easy enough to get to by either a short bus or cab ride away so location wise this is a great place to stay. Efcharisto Grecotel Casa Adele. We overall had a very comfortable stay.

Great experience for the family and great service

I stayed here for a week with my family and cannot fault anything. The room was great and the service was second to none. We had fun in the various pools and enjoyed the variety of food delivered each night.

Would strongly recommend to anyone without hesitation!

Best choice ever!!

These were one of our best holidays! Eeven in 5 stars hotels we never met such a wonderful service and hospitality. And special note about food: I am difficult, picky and gluten free - here I was served with care and food was organic, made with passion and best quality! If you choose ‚swim up’ apartment you can jump to swimming pool straight from saloon in pijamas in the morning :-) I am coming back healthier, super happy and rested! We gonna plan our holidays in Greece with Greco hotels only!

A wonderful family hotel – boutique atmosphere without the huge-resort feeling

A wonderful family hotel – boutique atmosphere without the huge-resort feeling

We booked Casa Adele very spontaneously, only about a day and a half before departure. We are a family of five with three young children (7, 5 and 3) and were simply looking for a week of sunshine and relaxation – ideally with the convenience of a resort, but without staying in a huge, anonymous all-inclusive complex.

We came across Casa Adele because there was a very attractive offer on the hotel website, including the airport transfer, which meant we didn’t need to rent a car.

Before arriving, however, we weren’t entirely sure what to expect. The website and Instagram are very beautiful and “picture perfect”, but quite focused on individual details, so we found it surprisingly difficult to get a feeling for the hotel as a whole. It also looked rather boutique-style, and we wondered whether we would actually feel comfortable there with three small children.

This is one of the main reasons we wanted to write this review: we were very positively surprised.

Rooms & cleanliness – 5/5

We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment, which was absolutely perfect for our family. There was a separate master bedroom and a living/dining area where the children could sleep, as well as a bathroom and a small kitchenette with a fridge. Having the kitchenette was especially useful with three children.

The apartment was spacious, tastefully decorated, the beds were comfortable, and we had a lovely terrace with enough chairs and practical places to hang wet swimwear and towels.

Most importantly, everything was exceptionally clean. And this doesn’t only apply to the rooms: the entire property, restaurant, gardens, plants, pool areas and entrance were always extremely well maintained.

Even small things stood out to us. We had a baby cot which was spotless and in excellent condition. The same was true of the high chairs in the restaurant – something parents will appreciate, as this is definitely not a given in every hotel! They were always clean and immediately brought to the table when needed.

Food – 4/5

We booked half board and were very happy with the food overall.

Breakfast offers a good variety and covers pretty much everything you would expect, with quite a strong British influence. There are also freshly prepared options such as omelettes. We wouldn’t describe it as exceptional, but it is very good.

The same applies to dinner. The buffet isn’t enormous, but we actually liked that. There is no “canteen” atmosphere at all. The selection is smaller than in a huge resort, but what is offered is tasty, fresh and nicely presented.

There are also reliable options for children every day – pasta, Bolognese, pizza, fries etc. – which made dinner very easy with three young kids.

One of the nicest aspects is the setting. Eating outside underneath banana plants and umbrellas, overlooking the pool with relaxed music in the background, is genuinely lovely. Everything from the furniture to the glasses and table setting feels stylish and considered. There is also a very pleasant indoor restaurant area.

At lunchtime, the hotel offers a selection of fairly simple snacks such as club sandwiches, chicken nuggets and salads. They are perfectly fine and taste good, but nothing particularly special, and we found them relatively expensive for what they are. As a result, we didn’t eat lunch at the hotel very often.

This wasn’t really a problem, though: there is a large supermarket just around the corner, the apartments have kitchenettes, and there are countless restaurants and beach bars within walking distance.

Service & staff – 5+/5

This was probably the biggest highlight of our stay.

We have stayed in many hotels, and it is rare to experience such consistently warm, friendly and genuinely caring staff across the entire property.

This was especially noticeable with the children. The atmosphere never felt like staff were simply being “professionally friendly”; they genuinely seemed happy to have families there.

One small moment sums it up quite well: when a child at the buffet accidentally dropped some watermelon from an overloaded plate, within seconds several members of staff were there helping – not annoyed or stressed, just kind and reassuring.

The service is also extremely efficient. The manager introduces himself personally, guests can communicate via WhatsApp, and whenever we needed something, it was dealt with almost immediately.

Despite having all the expected services of a larger hotel, you feel surprisingly individually looked after.

Families & children

This was another pleasant surprise.

From the photos online, we hadn’t realised just how family-friendly Casa Adele actually is. During our stay, many – probably most – guests were families.

There is a kids’ club in a lovely area of the property. We didn’t use it because our youngest is three and the club starts from age four, but it looked genuinely thoughtful and creative, with nice craft activities rather than feeling like a kids’ club that exists simply because a hotel is expected to have one.

There are also yoga sessions in the same beautiful area, including options where children can join.

That said, this is not a classic children’s resort. There is no playground, no evening mini-disco, no water slides and no big splash park. There are separate children’s pools, table tennis and other activities, but children looking for constant entertainment won’t find it here.

For us, that was actually part of the appeal. The hotel manages to be genuinely child-friendly while still maintaining a calm, grown-up atmosphere.

If we could change one thing, we would perhaps turn one of the several pool areas into a slightly more child-oriented pool with a small slide or some simple water features. That could be done without changing the overall relaxed character of the hotel.

Our children nevertheless felt completely at home and had a wonderful week.

Hotel, pools & atmosphere

One thing that is worth clarifying from the photos: Casa Adele is not a brand-new, ultra-modern architectural showpiece, and guests shouldn’t arrive expecting that. It is an existing hotel that has clearly been renovated and updated with a great deal of care.

For us, this is actually part of its charm. Rather than trying to be spectacular, the hotel feels thoughtful and cohesive. The landscaping, plants, entrance area, furniture, umbrellas, interiors and many small details have been chosen very carefully. Everything is extremely well maintained.

At times it even gave us a little bit of a White Lotus vibe – absolutely not in the sense of seven-star luxury, but in the lush plants, stylish details, boutique atmosphere and relaxed music around the pool. There is simply a very pleasant aesthetic throughout the property.

There are several outdoor pool areas plus an indoor pool, so the hotel feels more spacious than we expected. The pools were all very clean and in excellent condition. Some are quite deep, which is worth knowing when travelling with smaller children.

The sun loungers are high quality and comfortable. As in many holiday resorts, quite a few are “reserved” with towels early in the morning, which initially annoyed us – although somehow we always managed to find somewhere to sit.

Location

The location is very convenient. There is a large supermarket within walking distance, as well as plenty of restaurants, bars and shops.

The hotel isn’t directly on the beach but is only a few minutes’ walk away, so in practice we didn’t find this inconvenient at all. Even if you forget something in your room, going back isn’t a major undertaking.

One thing worth mentioning is that the hotel sits between fairly busy roads, so depending on where your room or table is located, you can hear traffic. Some areas at the front obviously overlook the road rather than the sea. We didn’t find this particularly disruptive, but it’s worth knowing.

Accessibility could also be improved. The main access involves some steps. There is a way around them, but it isn’t particularly straightforward, which can be inconvenient with a pushchair and could be more important for guests with limited mobility.

The beach – a wonderful surprise

The beach was probably our second biggest surprise after the staff.

Based on the photos we had seen before arriving, we weren’t expecting too much. In reality, it became one of our favourite parts of the holiday.

It’s a mixture of sand and pebbles, becoming more pebbly towards the water. The sea was beautifully clear during our stay. It does become relatively deep quite quickly, so parents of very small children should be aware of that.

The atmosphere is wonderful, especially towards sunset. The light in the evening is beautiful and even during high season the beach never felt excessively crowded or unpleasant.

A major plus is that hotel guests can use very good quality sun loungers and umbrellas free of charge. We used them almost every day. Beach towels are provided by the hotel and can easily be exchanged.

There are showers, a beach volleyball court and several beach bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel itself doesn’t operate a beach bar, but guests receive a discount at one of the nearby places.

We found the whole beach experience much more relaxed and enjoyable than we had expected.

Value for money & conclusion

For us, the value for money was very good. We booked at short notice and Casa Adele was one of the most attractive offers we found. Considering the quality and size of our apartment, the beautifully maintained property and, above all, the level of service, we felt we received a lot for what we paid.

We would absolutely come back.

We would especially recommend Casa Adele to families who want the convenience of a family resort without actually wanting to stay in a huge family resort.

If your ideal holiday involves giant water slides, kids’ discos, constant animation and enormous buffets, this probably isn’t the hotel for you.

But if you have children and still appreciate beautiful surroundings, thoughtful design, good food, a relaxed atmosphere, a lovely beach and genuinely personal service, it is a wonderful compromise: a boutique-hotel feeling with many of the conveniences of a larger family hotel.

For us as a family of five, that combination worked extremely well.

And above everything else, we will remember the people. The warmth and kindness of the staff made us and our children feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay – and that is probably the best compliment we can give a hotel.
