Just 100 m from a sandy beach, this hotel is located in the pretty seaside village of Platanias, only 6 km east from the historic town of Rethymnon. Restaurants, bars and shops are in the immediate vicinity. The airports of Chania and Heraklion are 65 km and 70 km away, respectively. The hotel features 24-hour reception, express check-in and check-out, currency exchange, free WIFI in public areas, restaurant, bar, spa and wellness, outdoor pool, children's pool, bicycle rental, car and motorbike hire, airport shuttle and luggage storage.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Our room 246 was quite small. The bed was huge but sadly pushed against the wall so one of us had to climb over the other to get in or come up from the bottom of the bed. No bedside table on that side obviously or bed side lamps either side? A spare bed in the lounge area and a small table and 2 hard chairs. Nothing to sit and relax on, disappointing. Tv in lounge area but maybe 2 channels available. Kettle and mugs, fridge and hairdryer in room. Small balcony with 2 plastic chairs. Rooms cleaned each day apart from Sunday, towels and bedding changed the same. Bathroom top by sink not cleaned the whole week. Breakfast very continental, eggs, beans and bacon? really quite cold. Cereals toast etc. Staff here are wonderful and friendly. Pool area clean, plenty of sunbeds. The bar area is fantastic and does fresh pizza too. Our go to restaurant for our entire visit was Tavernna Yiannis. 30 meters from the Axos hotel. Food fantastic as well as service. Large well stocked supermarket next door. Would definitely return but ditch the breakfast and buy what we needed at supermarket. Get a private transfer from airport if you can as coach took nearly 2 hours with other drop offs.
We have just left this beautiful hotel after a weeks stay with my family, the staff are extremely friendly and nothing is to much trouble, clean rooms fresh bedding and the pool is so nice quiet and the bar is lovely. A nice breakfast with lots to choose from tea and coffee and nice air con rooms. They speak perfect English I cannot recommend this hotel enough thank you everyone at Axos.
Just returned from our first visit to Crete for a 1 weeks holiday in this lovely hotel. This hotel is the perfect location and just minutes walks from the beach, tavernas and bars. The bar in the hotel had a great atmosphere with Yanis and some great cocktails. The hotel staff are so friendly and very helpful, the rooms were clean with good air conditioning and WiFi. Excellent value for money and we will definitely return to this hotel.
This hotel is owned by a charming family that are happy to do anything to help you. The rooms are mostly refurbished ,very clean and large with adequate balconies.
The pool area is small but plenty of shade for those who want it.
The problem here is really the lack of anything to do in the evening after dinner.
There was very little live music and you couldn't even go to the beach for a drink as all the beach bars are shut by 9pm
Outstanding! Have stayed at the Axos several times and would not stay anywhere else in Crete! The family that run the hotel are absolutely amazing as are the whole staff team. You are genuinely made to feel welcome. The breakfast is lovely including different home made cake each day! the rooms are immaculately clean and serviced daily with great air con, comfy beds, lovely bathroom with powerful showers. It’s a great location really near the beach, supermarket, local tavernas and bus stop for Rethymnon! A huge thank you to all the lovely Axos team !
