Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We stayed at this hotel for the second time, having first visited two years ago, and once again we had a wonderful experience. It is an excellent resort with very well-developed infrastructure, a large number of rooms, several à la carte restaurants, two swimming pools, and, most importantly, a beautiful cove-shaped beach. Even when there is a storm and rough seas outside, the water at the beach remains remarkably calm and peaceful.
We managed to get a room with our preferred sea view on our second attempt, which is understandable during the high season. The hotel offers a wide variety of entertainment and activities every day, so there is always something to do. There is also a small shop on the property where you can find all the little things you might need. Right next to it, guests can inflate mattresses, swim rings, balls, and other inflatables completely free of charge.
The breakfast selection is extensive. Although the assortment remains more or less the same from day to day, there is enough variety to easily choose something different every morning.
However, the real highlight of our stay was the beach team, especially the beach manager, Vasilis. We met him during our first stay two years ago, and even then we were impressed by how professional, attentive, and genuinely empathetic he was towards every guest, whether they were visiting for the first time or were returning guests.
Under his leadership, the entire beach team works like clockwork. The speed and responsiveness of the service are exceptional. Attention to detail, genuine care for every guest, and the ability to solve any problem quickly are clearly his priorities. We particularly appreciated the constant attention to guests, the way he always kept an eye on the situation, and the incredibly well-coordinated work of the entire beach team.
If I had to mention one downside, it would probably be the pricing policy. In my opinion, the prices for food and drinks on the beach could be somewhat lower.
Apart from that, the hotel offers an almost perfect combination of location, infrastructure, facilities, service, and atmosphere. This was our second stay, but thanks in large part to the outstanding quality of service - especially from Vasilis and his team - we are already looking forward to coming back again.
We chose this hotel for its location by the sea and its beautiful setting — and we were not disappointed!
The resort is really lovely, with small buildings spread around like a little village rather than a large hotel block. Everything is well designed, quiet and easy to reach on foot.
We stayed in Villa Indigo and absolutely loved it. The 270° sea view, private pool, amazing sunsets and peaceful setting were fantastic. The villa is also very well equipped for a family stay, with a kitchen and private parking.
We were also very happy with the food. We stayed half-board and enjoyed the variety and quality of both dinner and breakfast.
The beach is pleasant, with plenty of sunbeds and breakwaters protecting the sea when it is windy. The main pool is also great. As usual, some guests reserve sunbeds with towels, but that is hardly the hotel's fault!
The bars offer different atmospheres, from the relaxed Elixir with live music to the livelier Thea Bar. The spa is also worth trying — my wife and daughters loved their massages!
The staff were all genuinely friendly and helpful, which really made a difference.
The location is perfect for exploring western Crete: Chania, Rethymno, Samaria Gorge, Gramvousa and Balos are all easily accessible.
One small thing: we would have appreciated more information on arrival about the facilities, especially the tennis courts.
Overall, an excellent stay and a real success. We already feel like coming back for our next holiday in Crete!
Service and Food at Beach Bar were truly appalling, with the Beach Manager’s rudeness and arrogance were on a par with his team of laughing hyena’s.
Took 3 attempts and 1hr 39 mins to get a kids meal right.
1st attempt - cheese was put on the kids sliders, despite us clearly stating that our son was allergic to cheese..
No follow up, no allergy management, no apology, nothing.
2nd attempt - burgers were raw in the centre.. Are they trying to kill my son here?
A waiter that served the second attempt was asked by us to replenish our drinks, he forgot..
Anyway, the outlet manager comes over, tells me that he and his team are working in 45 degree heat (it was 28 degrees), in a metal box not fit for purpose, serving 500 people a day (not at 2hrs per dwell time they’re not..), so mistakes happen, again / no apologies, not 1.
3rd time lucky - our son was served at 90 mins after ordering.. again, the Manager continued to try and justify rather than just apologise , what could I do to make things better etc, no - no remorse, no apology to any of us.
A 5* Experience? (€19 for two sliders) don’t make me laugh.
The outlet manager and his team really need to be put through a complaints management course.
So unnecessary.
We traveled to Crete in August. The hotel transfer by bus (via DER) took a bit longer than expected, but that was quickly forgotten once we arrived at the hotel. Since this was already our second stay there, we immediately felt right at home - and the hotel acknowledged that too. We were welcomed warmly and kindly, and any special requests were handled flexibly and without hassle at any time. The hotel facilities are exclusive and beautifully maintained. The food is varied and exceptionally good. The spa area is an absolute highlight and highly recommended - you can truly relax there! Whether you prefer swimming in the pool or relaxing on the beach, there's something for everyone. We especially enjoyed our time at the beach, with the lovely team and excellent food and drink service while soaking up the sun. Vassilis and his team do a fantastic job there 😊! A big thank you to the entire Royal Blue team - you made our vacation something truly special and unforgettable. Thomas S.
I’ve traveled to many resorts over the years, both for work and for rest, but this stay is definitely one I’ll remember for a long time. It was truly one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. 🤍
The place itself: a beautiful private beach with a breakwater, creating a lovely and safe swimming area. There are also several pools, including an adults-only pool and a general pool. And a room with a sea view veeeery highly recommended !
The service & food: with half board, both breakfast and dinner are served as a buffet. Everything was super fresh and delicious, approved by the chef (aka my boyfriend 😅) The staff were always helpful and welcoming.
The sports facilities: there’s an indoor gym as well as an outdoor gym with a spectacular sea view. Every day, the hotel organizes around four different sports classes, including Pilates, aqua aerobics, yoga, cardio and more. And of course, a special mention to the best coach, Iwanna! 🫶🏼 (approved by me, Pilates instructor & personal trainer 😅)
Cleanliness: everything was very clean and well maintained, both in the room and throughout the hotel. It was clear that a lot of attention is paid to keeping the whole place comfortable .
Noise level: another big plus for me because the hotel was suuuper peaceful. Perfect if you’re looking for a place where you can genuinely switch off.
Value for money: considering the quality of the facilities, food, service, cleanliness and everything the hotel has to offer, I found the overall experience to be really great value for money.
I’m just hoping to come back to this place one day. 🤍
If what I’ve described sounds like your kind of holiday, definitely give this hotel a chance. I’m sure you won’t regret it.
