Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Absolutely great hotel, excellent beach, sandy just a front of you. Amazing entertainment especially the disco night there, absolutely great selection of songs by the DJ there!!! Recommend it to everyone!!!
We stayed at Ikaros for 8 nights in July and had the most amazing holiday! I booked the hotel based on detailed Tripadvisor reviews.
The hotel complex is huge! It has a lovely Cretan village feel with beautiful gardens, plants and flowers throughout. The hotel was lovely to walk around and see all the different areas. It’s really clean and well maintained throughout.
We had a sea view bungalow which was spacious with a comfy bed and walk in shower. The room was cleaned every day with bottles of water replaced. Amazing air con in the rooms and it was also really quiet at night and we slept really well. Our room was round the corner from the pool.
There are really stunning areas to have drinks overlooking the sea. A huge range of drinks and cocktails on offer. Table service is quick at the bars. All the staff were lovely and attentive.
We went all inclusive and were happy with what was included. The buffet has so much on offer, lots of vegi options. There is the option to eat for free at the restaurants within the hotel with all inclusive, which we did. We had amazing meals with sea views at these restaurants.
We spent all of our time at the larger pool area with the pool bar. It’s a great area, sun all day, with a shallow plunge pool and double sun beds and then an actual swimming pool. The pool bar is great and the staff working there remember the guests and are friendly and make great cocktails! There a small sandy beach area next to it, the sea was soooo warm!
My only complaint about the stay is the number of people putting towels on sunbeds early in the day. We couldn’t have a lazy morning as we had to be at the pool area by 9:30am each day otherwise you have no hope of getting a sun bed. Some mornings we’d be at the pool by 8:45am and the majority of beds had towels on and these people wouldn’t turn up until about 12pm. There were signs up saying the hotel would check and remove towels and belongings but we never saw that happen. We never had a problem getting a bed as we got there early enough but it was just super annoying to see people doing it and the hotel doing nothing about this.
The beach area is great, loads of sunbeds and again sun all day! It’s a sandy beach not pebbles like some other beaches in Greece.
Just an amazing holiday and really wonderful hotel close to Malia old town by taxi. We went for some meals out, would highly recommend San Georgio in the Old town area.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again and highly recommend if you want an all inclusive holiday in Crete at a modern and clean hotel with sea views and not far from the old town area and places with things to do outside of the hotel.
We have just returned from a week stay at Ikaros. All I can say was it was excellent, we could not fault a thing. We chose to pay for the private taxi to and from the airport and arrived at the hotel within about 20 minutes. We had a ground floor bungalow with a shared pool. It was in a lovely location and the bungalow was really nice and very comfortable. It was cleaned every day to a high standard. Bedding and towels were changed daily if you wanted. We were all inclusive so ate in the different restaurants as well as the à la carte buffet. We thoroughly enjoyed all the meals we had and the food was superb. The alcohol, cocktail and mocktail choices were also very good. All the staff were so friendly and really helpful. One evening just as we were about to go to dinner, my husband cut his toe badly. I rang reception and within minutes Nicos drove over in a buggy with some first aid bits and drove us down to the restaurant. He also picked us up when we had finished to save my husband walking. We did not make use of all the swimming pools as we had the shared pool which was lovely. Plenty of sturdy, good quality sunbeds and umbrellas. We both had a couple of massages at the spa whilst we were there. Alexandra, Pi and Aris were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed being pampered by them. Would we recommend this hotel, definitely. Will we be returning, most definitely.
This hotel is perfect! They constantly put the guest first—the service is top-notch. We arrived via the hotel's shuttle service (which also handled our return trip) and were upgraded to a room with a shared pool. The room was huge and spotless, and it remained clean throughout our entire stay. We were on a half-board basis; there was a wide variety of food, and every evening featured a different theme: Italian, Cretan, Asian, etc. The staff was friendly and always ready to help. We even received a complimentary 30-minute massage—many thanks to Jessi and Pi. Since our flight was in the evening, they kindly granted us a late check-out at no extra cost. The complex boasts several delightful pools—the kind you never want to leave. The hotel also has its own private sandy beach with crystal-clear water. Just outside the hotel, there are two nearby towns (about a 15-minute walk away) lined with restaurants, bars, and shops. Simply perfect. Thank you so much.
A fair review: Positives
Negatives
Again this didn’t feel like a 5star hotel due to the negatives listed. But this hotel could be if the operational challenges and staffing issues are resolved.
