The family-friendly Star Beach Village & Waterpark enjoys a great location in Hersonissos, only 50 metres away from the sandy beach and the eternal blue waters of the Cretan Sea. The port of Hersonissos is also within walking distance, and the town and the international airport of Heraklion can be reached within a short drive. The hotel offers stylish guest rooms with balcony or terrace, boasting spectacular views of the sea. Services and amenities of the hotel include a mini-club, a 700 m2 freshwater swimming pool with children's area, a luxurious spa centre, a fitness room, sports facilities and a free shuttle service to the golf club. In addition, there is a fantastic water park with various fun pools, giant slides and water sports facilities. The perfect choice for families looking for a fun-filled holiday under the Greek sun.
Relax at the full-service spa, where you can enjoy massages. You're sure to appreciate the recreational amenities, which include 9 outdoor swimming pools, a complimentary water park and a lazy river. Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
All just so perfects!!!!! The water park!! The food! All so clean all the the time everywhere!! Great place! It was the third time we came back and like always had great time!!
Stayed at the actual hotel and apart from some of the very rude and ignorant/lack of manners from the other guests (not British) had a great time. The room had everything you needed and was well maintained and daily water replenished. The hotel was kept very clean in the public areas and the food was excellent ( and I’m a fussy eater). You could always find something to eat. My only criticism here re the food is that IMO there should be a bit more choice in the pool snack bar areas( chicken and gyros/sandwich option) as you do t always want to trek back to the restaurant for lunch! The Asian restaurant is great. When first arrived was a bit concerned about of the lack of nighttime bars as only 2 but it was fine just wish the main lobby bar stayed open to 12 like the pool bar the 2 barman at this bar deserve a shoutout and they work very hard. In fact all the staff were very pleasant , friendly and helpful.
The location of the hotel is excellent if you do not want to stay just there as it’s easy to walk to town or take the land train in for a trip. There are loads of things to do close by also.
The fact that the water park area is open to non residents is a bit irritating at times especially when it’s free entrance and they only have to pay for the slides and beds if used and lots of them seem not to do this. The hotel needs more staff checking around as I think they are losing revenue by not doing so. Their only saving grace to this being an irritant is that there are LOADS of sunbeds everywhere regardless so you don’t need to worry about that and this at any time of the day!!
This is probably the most family oriented hotel we have ever stayed which is fine it’s just unfortunate that some guests let their kids have free rein at any time especially in the buffets…
Would I stay here again? Yes probably if I wanted to return to that part of Crete .
Traveling with Celiac disease can be stressful, especially at an all-inclusive resort, but Star Beach Village in Crete exceeded all of our expectations! The level of care, awareness, and strict cross-contamination prevention was truly exceptional.
Every morning, the staff provided us with a generous kit of sealed gluten-free items (mostly Schär products). Even better, the culinary team took the time to personally walk us through the main buffet, explaining clearly what was safe to eat and what was not. At one point, I was about to take an item that was not supposed to contain gluten, but because the serving area was not completely sterile/safe from cross-contamination, they proactively asked me not to take it, emphasizing that my safety was their responsibility. That level of dedication and vigilance is so rare and reassuring.
Whenever we dined at the other restaurants across the resort, the team went out of their way to accommodate us and prepare safe, delicious gluten-free alternatives—including fresh GF pizzas, pasta, and burgers.
A huge, heartfelt thank you to the exceptional team who made our stay completely worry-free:
George (Head Chef) – for overseeing everything with such high culinary and safety standards.
Manoli (Sous Chef) – for being so attentive, kind, and genuinely helpful every single day.
Jenny (Shift Manager in the main restaurant) – along with all the shift managers, for ensuring everything ran smoothly and with great care.
If you or someone in your family has Celiac disease or requires a strict gluten-free diet, you will be in the best possible hands at Star Beach Village. Highly recommended!
I am writing this review with deep gratitude to the incredible team at Star Hotel. More than just a wonderful place to stay, we experienced a level of empathy and integrity that is truly rare to find. Due to my husband being unexpectedly called for emergency military service during the ongoing war in Israel, combined with the difficulties of managing our young children, we completely missed our non-refundable cancellation deadline. We were heartbroken, facing a significant financial loss. When I reached out to the hotel after our scheduled stay date, explaining our situation, the hotel handled our request with incredible compassion. having no obligations, they provided us a full, extraordinary refund as a gesture of goodwill. This level of understanding, empathy and remarkable customer care truly set this hotel apart. while truly goes above and beyond for his guests. We are so grateful and cannot wait to stay there on our next visit!
Great for kids, but a total disaster for adults looking for peace and relaxation.
The hotel itself is beautiful and the facilities are of very good quality, but unfortunately the atmosphere is extremely disappointing for adults who want to read, relax, or sleep.
The music is far too loud, with the DJ playing music at what felt like well over 80 dB for long periods. What is particularly frustrating is that there seemed to be little or no consideration for guests who prefer a quieter environment. The DJ was essentially the only person dancing, while many guests were simply trying to relax.
If you are travelling with children and enjoy loud entertainment, this hotel may be a great choice. However, for adults looking for peace, relaxation, and a comfortable place to unwind, I would strongly recommend choosing somewhere else.
