Grand Hotel Holiday Resort rests 25 kilometres east of Heraklion International airport and 2.5 kilometres from Hersonissos on the north coast of the Mediterranean island of Crete.
This 4-star hotel offers newly constructed bungalows with captivating views to the sea in combination with 4 swimming pools and beautiful poolside bars.
American breakfast can be enjoyed daily. Dionysus Restaurant offers a dining terrace serving Greek and International cuisine, while the snack-bar restaurant offers a-la carte choices right by the main pool.
Surrounded by well-kept colourful gardens, the complex also features a stylish lobby area, a wellness centre and supervised mini club with special programme of activities for children.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Spent 10 days at the Grand Hotel, and one word describes our stay .FABULOUS…. Stayed in room 1524,at the top of the hill , which upon first arrival seemed a little daunting as it was a trek and a half down to the main areas . But there is a Golf type buggy on call to convey you up and down , just press the buzzer and within seconds it arrives. Room was very clean with a terrific sea view. Towels were changed every day and a very reassuring thing is the bedding is quality material . And one thing we always check when in hotels is the mattresses . These were first rate , clean comfy and no stains . Kids pool area is clean and plenty of sun beds without the annoying factor of reserving with towels as lots do on holiday, there were always ones available. Pool bar was top notch great food and drinks and the bar man ,Socratis was a really pleasant and obliging guy. Again there was always a member of staff constantly cleaning. We had no need to visit the main pool and the Adults only pool as we had grandkids with us , but on passing there always seemed to be beds free and again everywhere was Spotlessly clean. Main buffet restaurant had staff who can only be described as Terrific so polite ,helpful and willing to engage .Manolis , Georgios & Nikos deserve special mention . The replies we received from our thanks for there service was that . It is their job to make our stay a good one and if we were happy ,it made them Happy . Had 2 Al a Carte meals at the Italian & the Greek restaurants . The Greek restaurant food was Superb and again service & Staff were terrific. Slightly disappointed with the food in the Italian but we have had worse , at other venues….Would deffo stay again at the Grand. Staff and Location First Class.
A hidden gem in the hotel.
When booking the service, I was pleasantly surprised by the wide selection of cosmetics available, including quite a few local products.
When the appointment finally came, the experience was so enjoyable that the time simply flew by. Stavroula did everything she could to make me feel relaxed and comfortable throughout the entire service.
As for the price, the initial cost may seem a little high, but it’s worth considering one of the all-in-one packages, which come with a discount.
I cannot fault the staff there they are very friendly and welcoming. They will go out of their way for you, this is without tipping. They work hard to provide the best service. That’s is probably the best point about this hotel.
The location isn’t the best there isn’t much around but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. It 2 euro 20 cent which is cheap. The only issue is the bus is always late but it’s public transport. The hotel do ring taxis for you but it’s 12-15 euros one way depending on the time, yes that’s right depending on the time.
The atmosphere is decent during the day the entertainment team try to get people involved , the only issue is it’s pretty much the same everyday. The do need to change it up. Another thing is with the atmosphere there are a lot of Dutch, French and locals go to this hotel and they do NOT like us, this kills the atmosphere a little.
For a 4 star hotel the rooms are just basic which personally im not to fussed about, you do not spend much time in the room. One good factor is the cleaners are excellent they will clean your room everyday, change your towels and make sure it’s nice. This is everyday, they work hard.
One big down fall about the hotel is that the main pool is salt water, yes salt water. They do have a quite pool but this is adults only and no activities. They also have a little kids pool area where the snack bar is, this isn’t salt water and it is good for families with kids.
The night time entertainment wasn’t great I will say that one, so it’s either a taxi or bus out. The next city down is decent had plenty bars and places to eat, arcades and plenty of shops. Also you have to wait to be served for drinks as well at night but the staff. Again cannot fault the staff for how hard they work and how welcoming and friendly they are. If it is busy you will be waiting a while for a drink but that’s a staffing issue from the hotel.
Overall we still had a good holiday and it was a nice place to go to but I wouldn’t visit again. Just because of the location, the entertainment, salt water pool and I don’t think it was good value for money.
Amazing hotel Staff are all so helpful and friendly Do not be put off by the hills the bus service is so easy and is round every couple minutes It’s not even that much of a hill to walk we did it with a 4 year old Food and restaurant service is amazing Fun pool is brilliant for kids and food and drinks served there all day no need to move from there Easy car hire to get out and explore Crete. Shop in the hotel has everything you need. Would definitely go back to this hotel.
Just returned from a week at the grand hotel Crete , we were in rooms very near the main pool so very easy for everywhere , what a joy to go out in the morning and have your pick of sunbeds , no towels reserving them and plenty to go around . We ate mostly in the main buffet restaurant, plenty of variety but more geared to German and French tastes but never went hungry , special mention to George in the buffet , what a lovely man and a great asset to the hotel , all staff very friendly and hotel immaculate, someone always cleaning to keep everything spotless , would DEFINATLY recommend this hotel
