Sol Marina Beach Crete

Amazing hotel!! We enjoyed everything , from the reception , to the room with the sea view, the food, the service and the whole staff . A special thank you to Jonny Boy who was always active in the animation team. A place to bring our children and grandchildren next year!! We highly recommend this hotel !!

This hotel is in a lovely location being only 25 minutes away from the airport. The beach is right on your doorstep just across a quiet road. We didn’t actually spend any time on the beach as there is no bar or restaurant there but there were plenty of Sunbeds. We stayed in one of the superior rooms. The air conditioning was very old and didn’t work brilliantly but I understand there is to be a full refurbishment at the end of the season, so I imagine this would be one of the things that would be updated! I cannot fault the restaurants at all! There is a main buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast has everything you could need from bacon, eggs, beans to pancakes and continental. Lunch and dinner have a lovely selection with live cooking stations and a definite Greek flare. There is also a snack bar at lunchtime if you don’t fancy the restaurant that serves salad, gyros, chips and pizza. There is self service beer, red, white and rose wine and all the fizzy soft drinks to save you queuing at the bar. We were a little disappointed with the alcoholic drinks selection. You can choose vodka, gin, white rum, whisky, brandy which are local brands and anything else you want ( which they do have) has to be paid for at around €8. Although have to say the whisky they serve is Cutty Sark so wasn’t too bad. There is a good cocktail selection to choose from too. During your stay you get the chance to eat at the bbq restaurant and the Isla restaurant (once each). To be honest the main restaurant is so nice it beats the bbq! But was nice for a change of scenery. This is also a buffet style. The Isla restaurant is right on the beach and serves 10 small plates of Greek food. We had a wonderful time there. They also serve the all inclusive drinks on your night there, but you can go there on other evenings and pay for your drinks and they have live music every evening. We spent most of our time during the day at the swimming pool with the swim up bar. Although did join in some activities at the main pool. The animation team work extremely hard and are great fun! Gotta mention John! He is a scream! One thing to mention is that there is a hotel photographer if you want some photos taken. We did do this but they don’t tell you the price until after. They were wonderful photos but the digital package was €350! Sadly a lot more than we wanted to spend. The absolute BEST thing about this hotel are the staff. They go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. Have to give special mentions to the wonderful restaurant staff Eva and Manos. Bar staff Aspa and Christina and guest relations Fanny. This is a wonderful family friendly resort and we would highly recommend it! Thanks to everyone who made our holiday special. 🥰

This Hotel warrants a 5 Star review on one thing only, the staff. We were so impressed by the welcome, the attention to detail from the outset, the efficiency in operating the restaurants and bars, the cleanliness and "sparkle" wherever we were, the spotless cleaning, and the pride they all took in working for this establishment. Shout out to Fanny and Manos, who were so helpful and friendly, to Aspa & Christina in the Main bar - always smiling and entertaining, and finally to Eva in the Restaurant who looked after us superbly. Yes, there were a few small issues, there always are with a big organisation, but nothing could deter these people from making sure we had a brilliant time. We'll definitely be back!
