Fantastic holiday with family of 4, Pilot exceeded our expectations.
Highs included the beach pool, beach, ease of using app, peaceful and well maintained setting, friendly and welconing atmosphere.
The beach was red flagged a few days but the lifeguards were great at supervising those who wanted to get in and enjoy the waves, so this didnt spoil our fun. Train to Lake Kournas highly recommended. We enjoyed the variety of locations to eat, quality of food was good. We didnt use kids club but 9 and 13 yo were never bored. Plenty of activities/pools to keep them happy.
Staff are mostly lovely and helpful. Beach bar hit and miss on this front. The main downside was that the small beds/sofa beds in room were rock hard. We rotated who slept in the main double (which was fine) as it felt unfair for kids to have to endure that all holiday. Otherwise an excellent stay and nobody wanted to leave!
We just returned from a 5-day stay at Pilot Beach Resort, and overall, it was a wonderful experience for our family. We arrived right around dinner time, and despite the late hour, there was a plentiful selection of food waiting for us.
Food & Dining The variety at both breakfast and dinner was consistently satisfying, which is a huge lifesaver when traveling with a kid! We don't really drink alcohol, so I can't comment on the bar service, but the food was always fresh and delicious. We ended up spending most of our time at the Beach Restaurant. A quick tip: you need to book a table for dinner here, which is actually super easy to do via the resortβs app. Breakfast doesn't require a reservation, but it does become a bit of a strategic game to find a table in the shade if you don't arrive at the right time! It was mostly here that we noticed the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and rushed trying to keep up with the volume of guests, but they were still working hard and the food quality never dropped.
Room & Housekeeping Our beachfront room was beautiful, spotless, and had a lovely terrace. Being so close to the sea and the Beach Restaurant was incredibly convenient. I will say that the beach-facing rooms might feel a bit snug to some, but honestly, we were barely in the room except to sleep. The beds were super comfortable, and waking up to that view more than made up for the size. Housekeeping was fantastic and did a very thorough job cleaning our room every single day.
The "Ant Situation" I had read previous reviews mentioning ants, so I wasn't completely surprised when we saw a few. One day they did manage to infiltrate our room, but we reported it immediately. The staff was right on it and resolved the issue on the spot. It was a minor hiccup that didn't cast a shadow over our holiday at all.
Pools, Beach & Atmosphere The beach is gorgeous. There were always enough sunbeds, so we never had that dreaded "packed like sardines" feeling. On days when the sea was a bit too wavy, the resort has plenty of pools to choose from. We also rented a car to explore the surrounding area, which I highly recommend. A massive bonus for us: the resort had a lot of families with small kids (which we all know can be an ultimate chaos factor!), but whether it was just good luck or the spacious layout of the resort, it was never noisy or bothersome. The guests were respectful, and the whole vibe was surprisingly peaceful.
Overall, the staff throughout the resort were incredibly kind, helpful, and accommodating. We had a beautiful family vacation and would happily return!
The perfect choice for a lovely family holiday. The Hotel is very nice, enough space and even at high times, the area is strategically built, that we could always get a free spot at the pool and/or Beach! The entire Hotel Staff was very polite, professional and helpful. (The cleaning staff had installed two fall prevention devices for the kids when they saw that we installed pillows around their bedsides.) Food and Drinks were very good too and the views, especially during the sunset are amazing. Thanks for a wonderful holiday.
This is my third time in Crete and this was by far the best resort I've stayed at. The beach was lovely, and the resort was nicely laid out so you could always find a spot. The only thing that bothered me was the flimsy toilet paper in the rooms π but otherwise it was really great. Perfect for families with children, but single couples will also find their privacy here.
Most guests are families, there are multiple activities for children. The breakfast- und dinner-buffet offers a huge variety, vegetarian and vegan items are clearly marked. The beach consists of fine sand.
