We read reviews and came with low expectations, however we have had a lovely week , some part of hotel hits good points nice comfy sunbeds in quite area s , hotel clean , food average for all inclusive , I brought some seasoning with me from home , but not needed them , staff on the whole have been nice, we had basic room all good 😊, hotel is not suited for children or adults who like entertainment in the evening , main reason for someone to consider would be , the hotel 🏨 requires some walking up and down hills and steps , depending where your room is , we were a 4min walk to restaurant, with up hill journey, we are in our late 60s and were ok with it , however should be considered before booking if this would suit you on holiday , the hotel doesn’t represent a 5 star luxury, stay but we have had a lovely stay , cocktails, are not the best , but light enough to have during the daytime , personally, I feel we hade value for what we paid £1000 for 2 with flights transfers , hotel stay , transfer from Chania airport is long but ok by car ,
We were a bit worried after booking this then reading the reviews.... We have just got back from 4 days here. The staff were lovely. We had a junior suite which had a separate living area which was nice. Quite basic; would have benefitted from some pictures on the walls and maybe some hooks inside to dry clothes etc. The food was generally nice, and a good variety but was like warm at best. There were 3 bars. Our favourite was the one by the restaurant. Wine was very drinkable. As others have said, this place is quite remote, but beautiful. We used the spa one day. This cost around 50 euros for a treatment, then you got to use the spa all day. You have to pay for this in cash. There is a cash point outside the hotel; don't use it. The fees are astronomical! Cost me £105 for €100 compared to £87 at the airport. There is a lovely coffee bar down towards the pool area where coffee is €2 and lovely. This is where you get the bus into town and the free shuttle to the beach. We got a late 4pm checkout too for €35 as our transfer back to the airportl wasn't until 8pm. They were very accommodating and we kept our wristbands after 4. I was worried about this as others said they were cut off on checkout. Don't know whether is was just because it was quiet. We paid £350 each for this holiday, all in, including flights and transfers so on the whole, we were happy with it.
Unfortunately, our stay at RG Village Crete was very disappointing, mainly because we found bed bugs in our room. I was bitten several times. When I reported the problem to the receptionist, she initially told me that the bites were caused by mosquitoes. I had to bring her an actual bed bug in a glass before she finally believed me. We were given another room, but I was still worried that the bed bugs might have already been transferred to our clothes and belongings. This situation was extremely unpleasant and stressful, and I expected a much more professional response from the hotel staff.
The hotel is located in a rather remote area, so it is not a good choice for anyone looking for entertainment or easy access to attractions. You are quite far from everything, and having a car is practically necessary. On the positive side, the surroundings are peaceful and green, and Wi-Fi is available throughout the resort.
We also experienced rainy weather during our stay. Although there are many terraces with chairs and sun loungers, they are practically unusable when it rains because everything gets wet. The roofs do not provide sufficient protection from the rain. There is also nowhere in the rooms to properly dry wet clothes or towels.
There is an indoor swimming pool, which could be a great option on rainy days, but unfortunately it costs extra. As a result, the pool was almost completely empty. There were also no evening activities or entertainment.
The staff in the restaurant and the housekeeping ladies were very kind and friendly, which I appreciated. However, one of the receptionists was quite arrogant and unhelpful, especially considering the serious issue we had with the bed bugs.
The food was generally good, although breakfast was exactly the same every day, so there was very little variety.
Overall, the peaceful and green surroundings are nice, and some of the staff members were lovely, but the bed bug incident and the way it was initially handled seriously affected our stay. I would expect the hotel to take pest control and guest complaints much more seriously.
Konstantina is the best, she was so welcoming, drinks were made perfect!!! Thanks to her she made our first day amazing 😍
A beautiful hotel in natural landscapes with lovely staff and great food. I think having looked at some reviews as we landed I was cautious on the food side, but no need to have been. It said in the hotel details Creatian food and it was. All beautiful fresh local food! 6 different made up salads each day lunch and dinner all amazing. Mussels, and fish chicken and pork all beautiful. Local fresh fruits and cakes. If you want chips chips chips and nuggets and pizza this isn't the place for you in all honesty. It's not for children other than little ones it's a quiettelaxing holiday not one with entertainment. Loved the nights playing cards under the stars on the roof terrace.
The little village square looked after by a beautiful lady Despina made wonderful fresh orange juice and coffee her smile made you forget the sun forgot to come out some days while we were there! The 2 euros for great coffee and shots and juice were great valve. We loved the holiday and thingk the village is amazing and natural.
