We stayed here two nights in June. When we arrived, there is weird "White Lotus" vibe where you do not check in at the front desk (even though it's massive) but instead asked to sit in lobby waiting for a silk pajama wearing "greeter" to come and explain the check in procedure. The property is on pretty steep hill, so you need to call a golf cart every time you want to go up to reception or down to pool (which is ok but not super convenient when it gets busy). We were taken to our room when I asked if we could be upgraded to a room with a private pool. Our greeter called the front desk and told us we would be called back and to wait. We sat in the room not wanting to unpack in case we could move. After more than 30 minutes waiting, I called the front desk only to be told to wait a little longer. After 45 minutes, we gave up and unpacked (they called us three hours later with an upgrade but by then we couldn't be bothered. The pool was very nice, and service was fine (although music was on loud side). Breakfast was a lovely spread. The hotel is about 10 minutes from town.
We had a wonderful week-long stay at this beautiful resort. We had a large room with a semi-private pool. The beds were comfortable, and the staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating. We loved being able to relax on the lounge chairs by the ocean, but they do fill up quickly. Although there is a kids pool, there were still many kids in the main pool. We would have used our private pool more if it was heated, but unfortunately the water was too cold for my liking. The morning buffet breakfast was well worth the price - there were so many options.
Our second visit to Domes Zeen Chania did not disappoint. Although the hotel has aged a little since our first stay, its amazing location close to the old harbour town and, most importantly, its incredible service were even better than we remembered. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel several times during our stay, and every meal was excellent. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, although the bathroom could benefit from a little more lighting.
The absolute highlight of our stay, however, was the incredible staff. They were genuinely wonderful — so friendly, attentive and obliging, with no request ever seeming too difficult.
A huge shout-out to Denise in the dining area, who was always smiling, had a fantastic sense of humour and went above and beyond to accommodate all of our dietary requirements. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and her warm and cheerful attitude made every meal even more enjoyable.
Another massive thank you to Georgio and Manolos, who went above and beyond to help us set up a laptop in our room so we could watch the English soccer, which wasn't available on the hotel's TV channels. But they didn't stop there! A whole team arrived with popcorn, pizzas, fruit and wine to make the experience extra special. What incredible service — we were absolutely blown away by the thoughtfulness and effort that went into making our evening so memorable.
A few things worth mentioning for anyone considering a stay: if you're looking for a very quiet, adults-only style experience, this may not be the hotel for you. There are lots of families and children, and the pool and mealtimes can be quite lively and occasionally chaotic. Service can also be a little slower during particularly busy meal periods, and buggy shuttles slow. For us, this didn't detract from the overall experience, but it's certainly something to be aware of when choosing the hotel.
Thank you to every member of the Domes Zeen team for once again making our holiday so special. Your genuine hospitality and attention to detail really set this hotel apart. We will definitely be back!
I have never experienced worse service than I did at this hotel. The Staff is slow, rude and wildly unprofessional. During our stay we were given a room with a broken lock. Instead of doing anything about it they made a point to explain to me how to lock a door. I've never felt so disrespected in my life and we should have immediately checked out. Because the door was broken we were not given a key fob to work the power. We called multiple times to get one with no response or hour+ wait to hellp us turn the lights on. They promised the next morning they would change our room, we never heard from them. When we asked to change they offered nothing. We were there for a wedding so we spent the day away from the hotel expecting a phone call and a new room when we got back. Radio silence.
There is little privacy from room to room, you can see inside every room when the lights are on and the curtains are open. Private pools would be nice if they were actually private but you can see into everyones room. The view is also of a bunch of huts. Super expensive for the service and quality of the room. You also have to walk up and down a giant hill to get to your room in the heat or wait 20 minutes for a golf cart to drive you up.
Our stay at Domes Zeen Chania was absolutely incredible. The staff are, without a doubt, the most amazing and attentive we have experienced anywhere. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and they genuinely go above and beyond to make your stay special. Their warmth, care and attention to every little detail really stood out.
The meals at the hotel were also fantastic — every meal we had was absolutely delicious and made the whole experience even better.
Our sea-view room with a private pool was simply breathtaking. Waking up to those views and having our own private pool was truly unforgettable.
An exceptional hotel made even more special by its incredible people. We would highly recommend Domes Zeen Chania and can’t wait to return!
