The hotel is situated on the north coast of the island, which is the perfect base from which to explore the fascinating city of Rethymno and get to know the island of Crete. Rethymno is one of the most historical cities on this beautiful island. Heavily influenced by the Venetians, its Old Town features a wide range of tourist and souvenir shops. Adele Beach is 300 m from the hotel, while the centre of Platanias is just 1 km away. This air-conditioned city hotel offers ambient atmosphere with the unique chance to face the traditional Cretan culture. It comprises 126 guest rooms and facilities on offer include a bar, a restaurant and a children's playground. The air-conditioned rooms are en suite and offer a private balcony. The units are equipped with a hairdryer, satellite TV and a fridge. There is an outdoor swimming pool on the hotel grounds, complete with a poolside snack bar.

Never disappoints
This was our third consecutive visit to The Syntopia and once again, we were definitely not disappointed. The welcome was as warm as always; our suite was perfect, clean and spacious; and we really appreciated the platter of fresh fruit and bottle of bubbles in the fridge. Love that scales were in the bathroom area, not only useful for checking bag weight when packing to leave, but great for keeping an eye on the pounds while on holiday! On the theme of weight, the buffet was better than ever this year with plenty of choice at each meal and something to please even the most capricious of palates. With so much lovely, fresh,beautifully cooked food to choose from, it was a minor miracle that only a few pounds were gained over the 2 weeks. One minor snag: so many of the delightful desserts contained nuts or were garnished with nuts which meant my husband, who has a nut allergy, had significantly less choice. Evening entertainment has had a bit of an upgrade too, with an 'event' night on our middle Saturday - a DJ playing on the rooftop bar, cocktails, and hand-me-rounds. Really enjoyable, as were the watermelon vodka shots doing the rounds of the pools on the Sunday. Viewing the sunset from the rooftop bar is something you must do at least once. A Cretean sunset is the most beautiful sight to behold. Cannot praise the staff highly enough. They are all charming, friendly and on the ball. Have to give a special mention to the bar manager Artemis with her beautiful smile and Nikos whose droll one-liners remain a highlight. Also, the lovely chambermaid who made our clean towels and sheets look so pretty. We had the best 2 weeks and left feeling 100% more relaxed than when we arrived. The Syntopia has a truly chilled out vibe and you are made to feel so welcome. The fruit platter and bubbles delivered to your sun lounger when you're a returning guest is such a sweet, special gesture and much appreciated. At The Syntopia, you simply can't help but relax and unwind. Will we be back in 2027 for a fourth consecutive year? Absolutely!
Just what was needed!
Special thanks to Evdokia, Xantui and Vasilis for an excellent spa experience. Spa Manager Evdokia was very informative when we were selecting our treatments and helped us find treatments that suited our individual needs. Xantui and Vasilis provided a truly personalised and attentive experience, and we both left feeling incredibly relaxed. The products were soothing and smelled wonderful too, and the spa had a lovely, calm atmosphere. If time allows, we would love to return. Thank you again!

Best hotel experience I have ever had
My girlfriend and I are still staying at The Syntopia, but I already know this place will be hard to forget. We came here for our first holiday abroad together and we still have 2 nights left, but I already feel like I want to write this down while it's fresh.
The hotel is beautiful and peaceful, the rooms are clean, the pool is relaxing, and the food and drinks are really tasty with plenty of variety every day. The music and events after 9 PM are also something to look forward to, they really add to the atmosphere.
But what really stands out is the people. Everyone here is genuinely kind, respectful, and warm.
A special thanks to Aris at the reception, who always made us feel welcome no matter the question I had. The spa team was also incredible. Evdokia made everything clear and comfortable from the start, and my therapist Alexandros was professional and caring.
We also appreciated the small things like the friendly housekeeping team and the service in the restaurant. It really feels like everyone here actually cares about your stay, and that means more than you'd expect.
The location is also great. The hotel is close to the beach and there are nice shops nearby, so it's easy to explore a bit without going far.
The Syntopia is not just a hotel to us anymore. It's a place where we could really relax and recharge. We still have 2 more days to enjoy it, and we're already talking about coming back next time.
Thank you to everyone who made this first holiday so special. If you're looking for peace, good food and real hospitality, this is the place.

Calming experience

Stunning spa gorgeous atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and lovely specifically nina, alexandros and evdokia. Gorgeous experience would highly recommend!
