Overlooking the Ionian Sea and Gouvia Bay from its slightly elevated position, the elegant Kontokali Bay Resort & Spa is set on a densely wooded peninsula close to Corfu Town. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens with pine and cypress trees; first-class features include a private sandy beach and a seawater infinity pool. The scenic fish taverns and bars as well as the shops of the popular holiday resort of Gouvia are within walking distance. Corfu Town with its archaeological sites is only 6 km away and can be reached within a short drive. A wonderful place for a beach holiday.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We stayed in a room in the main hotel. Our room was lovely and modern and very clean and spacious. The bathroom was a little dark, but it was spotlessly clean.
The buffet breakfast is wonderful, lots of choice, fruit, pastries and hot food, it has everything.
The evening buffet is lovely too, we were only b&b but paid for the buffet for 4 nights. The salad is lovely and fresh and the olives are delicious! The puddings are so tasty too, lots of choice!
There is a bit of a walk into the nearest town, Gouvia, think it took us about 30 minutes. There are some restaurants closer by but it is quite a dark walk in some parts.
The Marina restaurant by the sea is lovely, it’s a very peaceful setting to eat lunch in. The Greek salad is amazing! Lots of feta and the tomatoes are so nice!
We went end of September and there were always plenty of sunbeds to choose from on the beach and by the pool. We preferred it on the beach. The pool was a little cool at times and one you need to keep moving in! It’s certainly refreshing though! Going late September it’s probably to be expectd! The jacuzzi pool in the spa area is also a bit cold too, it would be nice if that was a bit warmer.
Taxis in to Corfu town are 25-30 euros each way so if you want to go in for a meal in the evening it is quite expensive, we only did this once due to the price. We were told by fellow guests that there is a bus you can go on but we just decided it was easier to eat at the buffet or walk towards Gouvia, so we neve figured out where to get this from and to etc. The hotel put on a free shuttle to and from Corfu town twice a day which was great, we went in on the 9:30am shuttle one day.
Being able to watch sunrise from the beach was amazing too.

Kalimera Travellers!! This hotel is phenomenal in all ways. Fantastic facilities, staff and food. We had the best and most relaxing time. I always say we would love to get everyone’s name but it’s impossible. However, we do try to attain the names of the staff who make our holiday a unique time. Every member of staff from the moment we arrived until we left was smiley, chatty and happy to help. That’s more remarkable as it’s coming to the end of a long season but the professionalism was on point. Kostas Doukas is an incredible Maitre D’ Hotel and his team are a reflection of him. Nikol, Christina, Dimitris and Elini (the omelette magician) were excellent. Every breakfast was a pleasure. We usually only do breakfast but due to a storm we tried the evening dinner buffet, wow!! The selection of food was amazing with much of it cooked or carved in front of you. The selection was ridiculously good for mass catering. We went another few times after the first experience. Panos was top notch and the lady whose name we didn’t get was happy to tell you how dishes were made, from which country, the ingredients and all this while she was carving and grilling. The gentleman who was always restocking took time to provide sound advice on which desserts he would choose if he was a guest. The outside grill from 12 until 3 was so so good. There really is too much too say. Happy to answer questions anyone might have. Beaches are great, pool also fab and the spa was a place of real relaxation. A lovely hotel but I would rate it 4* not 5*. The staff were very helpful & the housekeeping excellent. The bar prices are high. There were no sanitary bags in the bathrooms, not that it affected me but it would for a lot of younger women. The evening entertainment was quite good; the highlight was the Greek folklore entertainment. The Spa was lovely, the pool warm but treatments equal to UK prices. The choice at breakfast was good but the evening meal was not what I consider 5*. There is a small buffet behind the downstairs beach bar that was very reasonable for lunches. Advise to get a taxi to Kontokali village where there are tavernas cheaper than the hotel. Brace yourself on the walk to the marina for very smelly drains & cracked & broken paving. H&S not on the priority list for the local council!
We stayed for 10 days at this wonderful hotel on a B&B basis. We had a bay view room which looked out to the Marina and at night so we could watch the fabulous sunset from our balcony.
The staff cannot do enough for you and the breakfast is just incredible.. they have thought of everything! We went to the quieter beach during the day and loved delivery of food and drinks to our parasol using the hotel app. The hotel grounds are beautiful and very well maintained.
The hotel is perfectly located to be able to go to local tavernas at night. It’s only a short walk into Kontokali Village which has a great choice. And ideally located to visit Corfu Town there is a free shuttle bus from the hotel but we chose to pay for the water taxi option from Gerekos Speed Boats located on the beach so timings were more flexible and it only took 10 minutes to cross the bay!
Special mention to Evelina who looked after us so well at the bar at night!

We had the most wonderful few days here. We came for my wife’s 50th and thought the property was fantastic.
Staff were friendly in all areas, our room was lovely (we were upgraded to a suite with a pool) and breakfast was outstanding.
We enjoyed a couple of trips into the old town, but equally had a great dinner in Parea overlooking the sea, and loved our days on the beach with calm seas and comfy loungers.
Very highly recommended.
