Rodostamo Hotel and Spa

We stayed here for 10 days from 20th-30th September 2026. Our room was on the 1st floor at the back of the hotel and our balcony was only 20ft away from a row of 50ft conifer trees and a row of lower shrubbery that covrred a canopy which I can only assume was to hide the ground floor garden area for privacy. This meant we where completely enclosed by trees and shrubbery so we had no view whatsoever and it made our room very dark indeed. I immediately went to reception to request a different room only to be told there where no other rooms available and basically "we got what we paid for" which really upset me especially after reading other reviews where guests had been automatically upgraded to fabulous rooms without even requesting it. For the whole 10 days we didn't know if it was day or night when we were in the room. When we awoke in the mornings we had no idea what to wear as we didn't know whether the sun was shinning or if it was raining. Good job we had the mobile to check the time otherwise we'd have thought it was still night time !! Our other concern was the repetitive menu. The hotel is Al-a-Carte and you have a choice of 7 starters and 7 mains, which is OK if your staying for a week but then is starts all over again. If you don't like everything on the menu this really limits your choices, plus there was a lack of fresh vegetables with the mains. Whatever you ordered had perhaps a brocolli floret or 1 boiled potato. I was feeling pretty fed up after 3 days so wrote a trip advisor review which the hotel picked up on straight away and things changed immediately. The problem with the room never changed but regards the menu choices, they couldn't do enough for us. The restaurant provided new menus (which were probably for room only guests who paid a premium on a daily basis and therefore had a far more luxurious menu with better choices). We had fresh vegetables with our meal every night, complimentary wine and lovely food, they really went out if their way to rectify our disappointment. It's a shame the room spoiled the overall holiday. Must say, the staff at this hotel are excellent. So polite and friendly. The hotel itself is lovely, very clean and modern. The down sides are the location. In the middle of nowhere, you definitely need to hire a car. The pool was freezing despite being in the corfu sun for the past 5 months and its a shame they do not open the bar in the lobby area. There is no beach outside the hotel, it's more of a mud bank for the local geese. And the hotel entertainment is just someone on a piano. But, the breakfast buffet is excellent, loads of choice (and fresh fruit). Just to note, if your not happy with anything in the 'restaurant' tell them straight away. They certainly go out of their way to rectify the problem. Pity they never did anything about the room, which ruined our holiday.

Our second stay at Rodostamo and I wish we’d booked a room at the front of the hotel, as we had on our first visit. We booked half-board. Our room was at the rear, on the second floor with no view to speak of, and it was quite noisy at times. During the day you could hear a machine running, sounded like a tumble dryer. There was occasional noise during the night from vehicles & people’s voices. Otherwise it was very clean and the housekeeping team did an excellent job. The hotel itself is beautiful, very clean & well maintained. The pool & restaurant is brilliant, with great service. A few things have changed since our last visit, not least the evening meal being served in the pool restaurant. The choice & quality at breakfast was excellent, and the evening meal was lovely food too, however we were a little fed up of the same menu for 10 days. Sadly the hotel no longer offers a transfer into Corfu town, but we caught one of the local buses which are every 20 minutes. It’s also easy to book a hire car through the hotel, which we had for 3 days to explore the island a little more. We loved the hotel, the staff are friendly, helpful, and hardworking. The facilities are great, however we didn’t use the spa this time. Kommeno Bay is very pretty, but the area away from there leaves a lot to be desired. We’re not ones for lying on a sunbed all day, we like to go for a walk after breakfast and relax in the afternoon. Apart from a short walk to the very pretty Ypapanti Church, there’s nowhere nice to walk. To get to Gouvia marina it means walking along a very noisy, busy road past dirty, rundown buildings. It’s a shame but I doubt we will return to the area again.
