The highlight of our stay was the very kind and enthusiastic, Elisa. She was part of the Italian entertainment team contracted by the hotel. Leaving this review to give a massive shout out to Elisa for the wonderful job that she did whilst we were there and would give her 5 ⭐️’s.
This is not a five star hotel and our stay was frustratingly disappointing . On arrival hotel looks impressive, greeting was warm and we were offered a drink and taken to our room. We noted some wetness on the floor so rang through to reception and they promptly sent someone to have a look at what we thought was an air conditioning leak- he left and assured us this was all sorted. However in the morning we noticed similar wet patch and on closer inspection, seemed to start in the bathroom, around the toilet area. I rang reception again and they advised housekeeping and maintenance would come to have a look. To summarise, maintenance came, said they’d return with a plumber and after having a look , flushing the toilet a few times and doing little else, told me they’d come back after an hour to see if the problem was still there. At this point no one from management had come to have a look and I rang through to reception and asked for a change of room on the basis that the leak seemed to be coming from the toilet. I was told they’d call me back; had a call after about 30 minutes telling me they couldn’t move me tonight as they were at high capacity, and the plumber had said they’d have a look again in an hour. I had to go to reception and asked for the manager before I was offered another room that evening. The manager offered a half hearted apology, but her response was disappointing and definitely lacked customer focus. The smell of sewage in certain areas of the hotel is worrying and one evening I witnessed a sewage leak in the vicinity of the bungalows- see photo. It’s clear this property has an issues with drains/sewage and they need to deal with the foundation of the issue before guests become unwell. À la carte restaurants are difficult to book we managed to get into the Greek restaurant and it was not worth the visit- menu was uninspiring and food bland and poorly served. We left within the hour. Service was inconsistent/ some days we were seated at the buffet, water poured into our glssses, other days staff appeared to have forgotten or couldn’t be bothered. It appears staff are overworked, in short the hotel needs to employ more staff during the peak season to ensure a better guest experience. I want to highlight great service from the 1 member of staff on the beach who worked tirelessly to provide a waiter service, on her own in intense heat- thanks Vasiliki! Housekeeping again was inconsistent- room supposedly cleaned but used tea cup not removed and towels taken but not replaced, I requested replacement via the app and by ringing reception but had to find housekeeping myself to get a towel so I could shower- they then had the cheek to show this as resolved in the app! We will not be returning and would advise others not to go until the fundamental issues regarding consistency, standards of hygiene, food offering and staffing are properly addressed.
We had a lovely holiday and experience at Hyatt Ziva.
A warm welcome on arrival with a drink and cool hand towel. Followed by a quick introduction to facilities.
Food- We personally felt the food was fab. The a l carte restaurants were authentic and felt detached from the buffet offer. We loved the Italian at lunch time. The amazing “Harry” and his team were exceptional.
The Sunset Grill was excellent in the evening. Lamb shank and chicken (see pics) were outstanding and befitting of a restaurant.
The staff were nothing short of exceptional. Friendly, tireless and worthy of a tip!
The inflatables were fun and the kids loved them. Mateo was a force of nature entertaining the youths with us.
Drinks- For an all Inc, overall I was pleased with the drinks offer. Cocktails were mixed freshly, not pre-produced. Alpha beer was on tap.
The beach hut was great for a late afternoon drink., as was the terrace to the side of the bottom pool bar. Stunning views here.
The glassware could be improved upon, both dry and wetside to emhance the experience.
Good gym there with adequate equipment.
Entertainment was good, for what we engaged with.
Corfu Town (old area) is stunning. Easy on the Blue Bus 5 mins from hotel. Taxis back was €30
Spirios Boat trip off the jetty, was lovely. Great guy. We took the whole morning private charter for €400.
Some humbly suggested improvements/ changes to the facilities would be-
*Remove the outdoor gym and increase the size of the football area or have two for different age groups.
Overall lovely holiday.
Really enjoyed our relaxing stay with Hyatt Ziva! Checking in was great, greeted with a drink and taken to our room, all details explained to us and left to enjoy our stay.
Beach and pools had plenty of loungers, food was great and easy access to drinks and snacks where ever you are in the grounds.
Spiros and the boat trip from the hotel beach was really good with lots of details of the area, as well as a fruit platter that was lovely!
Fully recommended, no bad words to say and the local town of Govia has lots to do, from both a food and drinks perspective with lots of little shops.
Awesome hotel in a beautiful location with great staff and service. Would highly recommend. Outstanding resident band, and Preferred Club experience makes a huge difference
