Gouvia

5* boho living featuring 195 renovated rooms. This adults only 16+ hotel is situated in the popular resort Gouvia, in Corfu Island just 6 km from Corfu town.

With sounds by our in house Dj's, upscale street food choices in a Branded All-Inclusive a la carte environment, and a mix of drinks and signature cocktails prepared by our mixologists.

Forget the classic hotel buffet and prepare for a new a la carte exclusive parea style culinary experience. Parea in Greek means within a group of friends this in our Cantina restaurant translates to the way we serve your food. Everything goes in the middle of the table while not served at the same time, so you can share and explore our street food delicacies, ranging from Far East to the Americas with healthy and Vegan options and with an emphasis on Greek regional cuisine.

Z list love island - New Gen = Low Luxury

This hotel totally confused me.

Location The hotel is set back from the front off a main road. There is no shops or other bars within the immediate area. There is no light crossing points on the road so dangerous to cross. It is on the number 7 bus route which takes you to Corfu town in 25 minutes. If you dare walk to the pebble beach or marina it is through graffiti and litter streets with derelict houses and did not feel safe. Basically you are trapped in the hotel without a taxi or bus.

Hotel Reception and arrival On arrival no welcome from any staff or cold towel/drink as you would expect at a 5* hotel. The male receptionist was rude and shouted at us to wait whilst he sorted out the receipts from the spa.
Once we were finally called forward he was rude and dismissive of questions. We asked about some food as arrived at 11pm. Was told it is a ham sandwich which is not very nice and not to bother! No explanation about the app or secret code but fortunately I have used this at another hotel so knew what to do. We were given 2 cards and a towel token and then our cases were taken by the porter without any explanation apart from he did not speak English. On entering the lift he ran over my toes with the case and suddenly could speak perfect English.

The room had not been split to two beds as requested and we had to do this ourselves.

Rooms Rooms are adequate and clean. There is a safe which is free of charge and an open wardrobe. There are only 2 small drawers and 8 hangers.

The coffee in the room is Nescafé sachets and no minibar but there is a fridge. Toilet and shower are separate but the sink is not and directly in front of the shower so steams up easily.

We were there 4 days and the sheets were not changed but the towels were.

Pool

As others have stated the sunbeds are really uncomfortable and leave cross marks all over your body even through towels. The main pool is like being in a z list version of Love Island. If you live your life on social media and just want to pose and make out with your partner this is the pool for you. The first day one couple were performing a sex act on his partner which I do not wish to see. After this we spent the rest of the holiday at the quiet pool which was a toned down version. However there is no food at this pool and if you have mobility issues you would not be able to go to it. All drinks are self service and the selection for all inclusive is poor. If you want anything else there is a charge.

If you want to swim in the pool you have to get in before 9am as all the other times there are people stood reading or cuddling.

Restaurant and food

The food we had was of decent quality. You have to order everything on an app so it is pot luck if you like it and as such have a limited choice unless usual 5* hotels.

The best staff are present in the main restaurant on a morning and lunch. There were always smiling and nothing was too much trouble. The same for the ladies serving in the Al a carte.

The bar staff on the other hand were over worked and miserable.

I have never been to a 5* hotel and had to queue for a drink in the restaurant. The same at the main evening bar. Sometimes 20 deep. Again it is set up for basic service.

The entertainment was confusing. One day they closed one side of the pool early 2 days before an event and then took at the sofas from the guest area and placed them outside for a world famous Greek Clarinetist! Hotel staff was not allowed to sit on these as they were for VIP invited guests and friends of the hotel. For these people they put on waiting staff and served on them. The day entertainment was a set play list from the DJ booth which was identical every day. Other evenings we had I DJ. 1 singer and then an electric violinist!

Customer Services by Phoebe at customer services was very pleasant and accommodating. The older lady with the dark curly hair was very condescending. She asked me for my views on the hotel and basically said the new generation hotels are for younger guests who service themselves and use apps and luxury and customer service is not a priority!

So in summary the hotel was clean and food was ok. You pay 5* hotel prices for a social media setting for your posts.

If you want to experience any traditional feed or experiences and be spoilt this is not the hotel for you.

New generation hotels are not for me.

Yes but no 🤷🏽‍♀️

Room: the room was nice , nice view of the upper level pool. Big sized balcony. We could see directly down the rooms with private pools so just a heads up it’s not so private same with walking past them only a small fence conceals the pool. Beds were two singles pushed together so was a big annoying waking up to falling down the middle of the bed. The bathroom had an open concept to the room. Both toliet and shower had doors but sinks were in the bedroom behind a mirror. So if going with friends may be a little awkward to get ready for showering as there isn’t much privacy unless you change in the shower. Wish their were more mirrors their was on the side near the bed and one by the bathroom so doing makeup was annoying. But overall not bad at all.

Food: honestly this is what made the stay amazing. Food was outstanding we did all inclusive which is the best I’ve been too. Although queing for drinks at the bar at night was a little crazy with large waiting time. The food was not explained to us so a lovely couple over heard us not understand what to do and she also had not been explained the system. Basically lunch can be had at the pool , light snacks small bites or at the canteen. Through an app you order what you would like everyday especially dinner having new options. It will be then brought to your table. You could order as many times as you liked. Food was delicious

Pool. Pool filled up quickly with quite uncomfortable if I’m honest deck chairs the ones that feel like rope and leave checkered marks on your whole body. You also need a pool card so if you loose you have to pay and always have on you which was annoying I thought a room key would be enough proof. Pool was fab deep ish and water filled right to the top. Music is played all day it wasn’t my type of music and was rather loud from where we were sat but I can’t complain as someone may have loved the music all down to taste. There’s two pools the main and one on an upper level lots of steps but much quieter and also has a pool bar.

Nighttime : night was a whole different vibe live music lots of people drinking and lonnng ques for the bar. If that’s your kind of atmosphere then amazing ! For us it was a bit rowdy but it may be someone’s favourite part of the stay !

Area: so it’s true when the reviews say you can’t walk anywhere it’s completely bland nothing to see or do . But there is a bus that’s. £2.00 that takes you into the old town about 20 mins. If it wasn’t for the bus I would have been disappointed with location but 20 mins is not bad at all in my opinion very quick and efficient.

Overall despite some small annoying things mainly because of the great food I would stay again if I went to another location . Foods great , staff lovely just missing on some parts to improve

Perfect couples retreat

We have absolutely loved our stay at this fantastic hotel and spa – it's the perfect couples' retreat. It has a wonderfully relaxed feel, never overcrowded, yet still with just the right amount of atmosphere. The drinks were excellent, with both the red and white wines being surprisingly good quality. The food exceeded our expectations throughout our stay. From the extensive buffet breakfast to the freshly prepared lunches and dinners ordered effortlessly through the app, every meal was delicious. We also dined in both à la carte restaurants, and each offered exceptional food and service. Everything was so tasty and satisfying that we never even felt the need for the snacks available during the day. The spa was another highlight. We treated ourselves to two visits – one for massages and another for facials. Despina was exceptional, making both experiences incredibly relaxing and memorable. She is a real credit to the spa. Our first-floor triple room was spotless, modern and comfortable. It was cleaned beautifully every single day without fail, which really added to the overall experience. We're due to leave tomorrow and are hoping to extend our checkout time. We understand this can only be confirmed on the morning of departure, especially during a busy period, and appreciate the hotel's flexibility. Overall, this has been a truly outstanding holiday. The hotel has exceeded our expectations in every way, and we will definitely be returning next year. Next time, we'll be treating ourselves to one of the private pool rooms—they looked absolutely stunning and will make an already amazing stay even more special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing, high-quality escape with excellent food, wonderful staff and luxurious surroundings.

Poor

Unfortunately, this hotel felt like a complete catfish. The Instagram and social media content make it look like a lively, luxury adults-only resort, but the reality was very different. We booked a four-night stay to celebrate my birthday and left feeling really disappointed.

À la carte restaurants: We weren’t aware you need to stay at least seven nights to qualify for the à la carte restaurants. Even when we checked, they were fully booked anyway, so we had no choice but to eat every meal in the buffet restaurant. The food became very repetitive, with lots of pizza and pasta, and the quality was poor. One pizza I ordered was absolutely covered in cheese - as soon as I picked up a slice, all the cheese slid straight off. The pastas were like microwave meals and drowned in like watery sauce. One meal we had was drenched in oil. The buffet also works by scanning a QR code and ordering from your phone, which often meant our meals arrived at different times so one of us would have to wait longer to eat. Can be up to 15 mins.

Food & drinks: The pool snack bar is very basic, and for the price you pay for this hotel, it’s underwhelming. Menu changed everyday but its like sandwiches etc. Also, don’t expect late-night food. Once the buffet closes, there’s nowhere on site to eat, and room service isn’t available 24/7, so we ended up paying extra to order food from uber eats which kept cancelling

Wi-Fi & rooms: The Wi-Fi is extremely slow, especially around the pool, and struggled to load simple apps like TikTok or videos. The TV is also very limited, with mainly Greek channels, so we’d definitely recommend bringing a Fire Stick if you plan to spend any time in your room.

Staff: Sadly, this was one of the biggest letdowns. During our stay, my partner accidentally dropped a glass which cut my leg. There was blood and broken glass, but the bar staff simply told me to go to reception. Reception handed me a plaster and a towel without checking the injury or showing any concern. Thankfully it wasn’t serious, but the lack of care was disappointing.

The bar staff also came across as rude and dismissive. Guests are allowed to order two drinks each on the all-inclusive package, but every time we did, we were made to feel like we were asking for too much. Even simple interactions often felt awkward, with little acknowledgement or friendliness. As we left the hotel no one asked us how our stay was or anything. After checking out, guests are told they can use the shower room. Unfortunately, the receptionist was very rude and simply said, “You know where it is,” with no politeness or willingness to help. Although we knew where it was, the interaction felt dismissive and unwelcoming. When we got to the shower room, there were no towels available, and the shower was leaking, so we were unable to have a proper shower before travelling home. This was a disappointing way to end our stay.

Entertainment: This was probably our biggest disappointment. The hotel is marketed as having a fun, lively atmosphere, but every day the same playlist was played around the pool. The DJ seemed to play exactly the same music every day and even refused a polite song request on my birthday. In the evenings, there was very little entertainment, and it definitely wasn’t the vibrant atmosphere shown on social media. We spoke to several other couples who felt exactly the same and ended up going into Corfu Old Town most evenings instead, which adds a lot of extra expense. But overall not great, no dance floor, no pool party etc.

Birthday surprise: My boyfriend paid an extra £120 to organise a birthday surprise in our room, which included balloons and a cake. The balloons looked great and were what we’d expect for the price. However, the cake was a huge disappointment. It arrived melted, looked poorly presented, and even had my birthday message spelt incorrectly. For the amount paid, we expected a much higher standard and much better attention to detail. As we checked out we asked if we could not pay for cake as this was not presented as displayed in the original picture they said no as the cost was a package but when my partner ordered it it was separate so this didn’t make sense they weren’t very apologetic either.

Drinks: The all-inclusive cocktails were quite disappointing. My partner and I don’t usually need many drinks before we start to feel the effects, but even after six or seven cocktails, they seemed unusually weak. We can’t say whether they were watered down, but they certainly tasted much less alcoholic than we’d expected, which took away from the all-inclusive experience. Also you have to pay for Red Bull or Serrano or any extra premium alcohol that applies to everywhere in the hotel. So you’ll just be getting the basic drinks with the all inclusive package unless you wanna pay the premium prices.

Overall, if you’re looking for a relaxing hotel to sunbathe quietly, this may suit you. However, if you’ve booked because of the social media content expecting a lively adults-only holiday with great food, entertainment/ nightllife and service, you’ll probably be disappointed. For the amount of money we paid, we expected much more for a 5*! And we won’t be returning unfortunately.

Relaxing and friendly

I had a body massage with Despina and it was wonderful. Nice firm pressure which is perfect for my tension. Very friendly and relaxing from the moment you walk in. Hotel is very bohemian and boujie, clean, food is yummy and staff are nive and friendly and happy to help and accommodate needs as we had a disabled traveller with us. Would happily recommend and come back!
