Bitterly disappointed is a understatement. This hotel is definitely not 4 star. The carpet was filthy, the shower did not work for 2 days, very dated decor, balcony door squeaked so loud it went right through you, despite complaints, it was never fixed. The noise from the street was so loud, I had had to check the balcony door was actually closed! There was a coffee machine but no kettle to make tea. The floor was filthy. Only 12 sun loungers for a hotel with 110 rooms. The pool was dirty with grit on the bottom and green stains around the edge. The upside? It is in a good location and some waiting staff are friendly. I wouldn't return. If you want a 2+ star hotel and pay a 4 star price then this hotel may be for you.
We stayed for 10 nights at the, supposed 4* hotel Mon Repos Palace. It's situated in a beautiful region, close to the beach, Mon Repos Gardens and a good 30 minute walk from the old town and the forts. So great location, but the hotel is tired, the rooms far to small and no where near enough storage. The shower was but a trickle and the pool was dirty with only a few sun beds. However the breakfasts were okay, not always warm enough, but there was always fresh fruit. We didn't eat dinner there so can't comment on that. The reception staff, all bar 1 were unfriendly, but the waiters and waitresses were great.
Had a lovely three nights here following a cruise. The room was comfortable as was the bed. I did have a little trouble with the bottom sheets which didn’t seem to fit well and came adrift in the night - I did find this irksome! The staff were friendly and helpful and the decor was in good order. Breakfast was an extensive array of goodness sufficient to suit all tastes. We dined there on two evenings and had lovely meals from the buffet. The evening buffet was priced very competitively which certainly made it a great idea to stay at the hotel in the evening. There was entertainment in the evening and the location of the hotel allowed for a gentle stroll by the sea or through the tree shaded grassed footpath strewn with small restaurants. The hotel was very handy for a kiosk selling drinks, ice cream, crisps etc and for both the hop on/hop off bus and the Local bus into town and around the island. The swimming pool is a bit on the small side but the sea, a matter of a few yards away, also invites the swimmer to enjoy the water. Bottom line, would I stay here again? The answer is yes, it’s close to the airport as well as the other amenities already mentioned.
This hotel was wonderful, the amenities were great- really good food, lovely pool, exceptional breakfast. Rooms clean, cleaners were lovely and helpful. Staff overall were fantastic, they make the stay an exceptional experience. Loved the place, 25 mins walk to the old town, bus stop 3 mins round the corner. Several bars and restaurants near by 5 mins walk. Lovely experience ♥️
