Akamanthea Village

Stunning hotel, very clean room was gorgeous with an amazing view. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The grounds are spectacular. A very laid back quiet holiday situated near a beautiful harbour and beach with amazing restaurants and boat trips and water sports. All within a 10 min walk. Or buses and taxi very easy to get. The hotel has everything you could need.

Absolutely lovely hotel. The staff were AMAZING and could not do enough for you. The rooms were spotless and cleaned daily. The food was abundant with multiple choices for even for the fussiest eater. The surrounding area felt safe and multiple restaurants are within walking distance to the beach and harbour. I would like to mention the standout people I met - Jackie, Andri and Miss Phoebe who took the time each and every day to say hello to all the visitors. Without a doubt, if you are going to staying near Polis then don’t bother looking around - just book in at the Amanthea.

My family and I stayed at Akamanthea Holiday Village from the 12th to the 19th.

Overall, we had a good holiday, but there were several areas where we felt the hotel could be improved.

We stayed in a family suite with one large main room, two additional bedrooms and one bathroom. The suite itself was enormous, but the layout felt quite strange and the furnishings were a mixture of different styles. Considering the size of the room, there was surprisingly little seating, with just one TV, one small chair, and a very small kitchen table with chairs. It felt somewhat sparse and more like student accommodation than a family holiday suite. We had also booked a "Pool/Garden Terrace" view, but as we were on the ground floor, our view was mainly of a hedge and the sprinklers.

The food was enjoyable on most nights, but there was very little variation throughout the week. Our youngest daughter, who is vegetarian, particularly struggled with the limited options available and often ended up eating mainly bread and beans. We eventually chose to eat out at local restaurants on several occasions to give her more variety.

There wasn't much in the way of entertainment at the hotel beyond table tennis and pool. One member of staff did play the piano one evening, which was lovely and probably one of the highlights of the entertainment during our stay.

I was also aware before travelling that the gym facilities were limited, but when we arrived, the gym appeared to have been removed completely.

The hotel also seemed to be short-staffed. At times, it felt as though we had to search for staff between different areas of the hotel to get service. However, whenever we did speak to someone, they were always friendly, helpful and accommodating. They simply appeared to be extremely busy, which was surprising given that the hotel itself was relatively quiet during our stay. I would be concerned about how they manage during busier periods.

The surrounding area is beautiful, although there isn't a huge amount to do locally, particularly for young families. Latchi was probably the most interesting place nearby and is around a 20-minute walk along the coast. It has some lovely restaurants, beautiful views and a good selection of boat trips.

Overall, we had a good holiday and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, but I feel that improvements to the accommodation, food variety, facilities and staffing would make for a much better experience.
