Take advantage of recreation opportunities including an outdoor pool and bicycles to rent. Additional amenities at this aparthotel include complimentary wireless Internet access, an arcade/games room and a television in a common area. Getting to nearby attractions is a breeze with the local area shuttle (surcharge).
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We had an amazing stay in a fantastic hotel. Family of 4 loved the apartment and the pool was incredible. All the staff were so helpful.
We have stayed at Basilica many times and will stay again! The location is excellent in terms of access to the harbour, bus station, restaurants etc. The supermarket across the road is very handy (we stay bed and breakfast).
Basilica itself: we usually book a one bedroom apartment. Whilst not the height of glamour, the apartments are clean, spacious with all facilities - kettle, microwave, cooker and/or hob rings, fridge freezer, tv, hairdryer, safe (extra cost paid locally on arrival), air conditioning (no extra charge for this) and apartments are cleaned daily except Sunday. If you intend to spend your holiday inside your apartment, then it's probably not for you but if you want a decent 'base' to enjoy Cyprus - it's brilliant.
The restaurant is very nice: as mentioned we have bed and breakfast but breakfast is fresh and plentiful.
The pool is very nice and well maintained, cleaned regularly and there is a smaller children's pool. Sunbeds are plentiful and staff will enforce the removal of towels for those annoying people who deem it their 'right' to put a towel on a sunbed at 5am and then sod off for the day, coming back at 5pm and expecting their sunbed to still be available!!!!! Give your head a wobble people - if you are not going to be at the swimming pool and using the sunbed, remove your towel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What makes Basilica more than anything is the staff - especially the lovely Cristella on reception (Hi Cristella :D ). The same staff have been at this resort for years which goes to show (a) they care and (b) it must be a good place to work! For the last 3 years we have travelled with our grandson (age 2 in 2024, age 3 in 2025 and still just about 3 in 2026 lol - those staff have watched him get bigger and get more confident in the pool and he loves them for their kindness, friendliness, sweets and ice cream LOL.
In summary - 5 star luxury? No. Doesn't pretend to be. However, spacious, clean, well-maintained base with great staff, good food, good pool and great location - absolutely.
See you next year Basilica x
Stayed here for 10 days, absolutely fantastic place, clean, friendly and nothing too much trouble, will definitely be back. Stayed here 25 years ago for our Wedding too
Service was great and located in a perfect area
We expected so much more than what we recieved feom Basilica, from being droped off, the dirty appartment, outdated and dangerous issues with facilities, to leaving…
After reading trip advisor reviews on cleanliness, facilitys, location and staff, we chose the Basilica appartments. It looked a great place for us to explore paphos. Ile make it clear, were not a family who complain, we appreciate these places are busy and ever changing, this is thebfirst complaint of any hotel/appartment in 30+ Jet2 holidays…but… We were dropped off at 1230am, bus dropped us down the road with no help with cases, or no help in finding the place from the driver (good job id google earthed before we left) driver sat in his seat whole time whilst we grabbed the cases ourselves. Never had that before!
Arrived to a reception all smiley faces etc. and a security man escorting us to the appartment, room 205 a 1 bed appartment, close to reception, 1 floor up, on arrival security telling us the lock is dodgy on our door! Great to hear when we have 2 young children! First impressions eh! Crashed out first night and started to explore in the morning.
Bare in mind this room is close to the main road, view of the balcony is a side road leading to the main road, where main bins are stored, and bin men come most mornings around 2/3am. Dont expect peace and quiet! Cars and mororbikes pass down this road early morning to the car park.
First day, Very early on we realised the appartment had not been cleaned properly, in fact was very dirty, grubby, hairs, dirt and stained floors, we found plastic bottles half full under chairs beds and sofa, also worrying was shards of glass we kept picking up on the kitchen and bedroom floor. Shoes and flip flops at all times to protect us we decided. Looking out the balcony the walls were very dirty, just looked bad overall. Paint is cheap to sort.
The air condition unit in the bedroom was constantly dripping onto our cases.
There was also a made up “camp type” bed in the living room which was broken when setting up, solid metal on your back, and also the mattress was thin and discgustingly heavily soiled on the underside!
Sockets were hanging off the wall behind the TV and the plug on the kettle was dangerously loose! No the correct plug on the toaster.
So First morning was to contact Jet2 and complain, get them prepared for me approaching reception to rally and complain.
To be fair Jet2 rep was on to it immedialty, plenty of phone calls and a visit on the thursday to speak in person and let them know. I spoke to 3 different Jet2 reps to make them aware.
We were offered a deep clean of the room. And someone came to change the camp bed, which incidently ended up being left on a staircase for the remained of the holiday (9 days later). Along with other matresses left leant up the coridor from other rooms no doubt.
When we met the Jet2 rep to voice our concerns there was 4 couples before us waiting to complain, without speaking out of turn and mentioning here I heard there problems that were similar.
Overall this place was dirty, from the paintwork, floors, balconys and general upkeep it was clearly evident to see, all around, ive added some photos too.
And because they offered us a so called deep clean to make it all better, im afraid this doesnt make a difference. Especially when you spent almost £3000 for 10 nights. We expected far better!
We picked ourselves up, with an attitude of “it is what it is lets make the most of it”We felt like the family of complaints the rest of the holiday. Was very apprehensive of staff and surroundings.
However I will say the Staff were very polite, and made good conversation. After our complaints. We didnt eat at the hotel but was told the food was very good. Some nice entertainment for the kids some evenings. As for location a supermarket directly opposite was great and was only a short walk to the harbour and promenade.
Its infortunate to write such a bad review but its completely honest and genuine from our part, with photo evidence of what we have mentioned. Jet2 were not happy with our issues and had plans in place going forward regarding cleanliness etc.
All we will say is “think twice” and No more said.
