Aliathon Resort

Stayed in a double room with chair bed in the Ionion main building. One adult and two tweens. The rooms were modern and very clean. Good size balcony which could only be improved by a line for clothes drying although the chairs did the job. The double bed was made up of two singles put together which I think if I was in a couple may have been a little irritating. The chair bed was adequate but would have benefitted from a thicker mattress, only suitable for a child or small teenager. Any bigger and it would cause arguments. Rooms were cleaned daily and with all hotels, towels left on floor were changed. Robes were also provided which was nice. Would have loved those disposable slippers. Lovely smelling handwash, shampoo and shower gel too. Fridge with 2 water bottles. Coffee machine, kettle and snacks. Two locks on door and modern panels which gave added safely. Safe which you have to pay for. Which I think should be of been free considering what you pay for room. Pool towels that could be changed daily were great. Water machines on each floor was a bonus. The lights took some working out! English TV channels meant we didn’t miss any of our favourite shows. I forgot that Cyprus use the same plugs so that was useful. All staff were helpful and polite and professional from reception, groundstaff, to cleaners. Waiting staff were very efficient. Entertainment staff never stopped! The holiday village is aimed at children I would say under 10 but there were things for everyone. The nighttime entertainment lacked a bit of adult time, maybe a disco, dj, acrobat, magician even a cypriot dancer. We loved the hotel with gold wristbands we had access to all the pools. We did have to go down at 6am to reserve good lounger spots. We learnt from the first day anything after 8 and you’d be lucky to get anywhere. The most dosappointing part of the holiday was the food. The breakfasts had something for everyone, the salads were amazing and fresh. The meat was poor and options were repetitive. Booked at the Cypriot restaurant and the Mexican. Both lacked atmosphere. We had been to the hotel 10 years ago and the quality and selection was far better. I understand you can’t cater for everyone and as people waste so much it’s probably why the quality has gone down but I did expect more from the à la carte. Lunchtime was better. We loved the fresh pizzas at the snack bar. The packaged salads, pasta pots and sandwiches were really good. Loved the ice cream bar too. Alcohol drinks were as you would expect. After a while they become repetitive and it would of been nice if you could give just one premium cocktail without paying a night. The location is great, access to the beach across the road, beach promenade. Bus 611 takes you to the waterpark, shopping mall and the harbour. Overall its a great hotel and would recommend. Just maybe keep some spending money to eat out for a couple of nights 😀

My overriding emotion following our recent two-week stay at the Holiday Village Cyprus is disappointment.

This was our third visit to the hotel, and sadly it will almost certainly be our last. That's particularly disappointing because we'd already planned to return in 2027 and beyond.

We stayed in a swim-up room in the Ionian building, and our children (aged 8 and 12) absolutely loved having direct access to the pool. The swim-up concept is fantastic and was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the holiday. Unfortunately, although the room looked modern at first glance, the overall condition was far below what I'd expect from a four-star hotel. The walls were covered in mould, there were cracked floor tiles, and the shower area was in a poor state and in desperate need of refurbishment. After paying around £8,000 for a two-week holiday, this simply wasn't acceptable.

The food and drink were another disappointment. The breakfast and evening buffets lacked variety, and the food was often bland, with some dishes regularly undercooked. The children's buffet was particularly limited, usually offering little more than smiley faces, fish fingers, crab claws and catering-style pizza. On the positive side, the snack bar was excellent and genuinely saved the day on many occasions. Open from 10am until 6pm, it consistently offered great food, particularly the pizzas, with plenty of choice throughout the day.

The alcoholic drinks were what you'd generally expect from an all-inclusive resort, but the soft drinks from the self-service machines often tasted unpleasant. Unfortunately, on several occasions I experienced stomach discomfort after drinking them.

Where the hotel really excels is its family facilities. The splash park is fantastic, the main swimming pool is enormous, the playground is excellent, and the kids' clubs run by the Holiday Village reps continue to be first class. This remains one of the hotel's biggest strengths and deserves recognition.

Sadly, the biggest disappointment during this stay was the service from some members of staff, particularly at reception. I won't go into the full details here as these issues are being addressed through a formal complaint with both the hotel and TUI. However, what I will say is that honesty and transparency with guests would go a long way. During our stay, explanations given by reception changed depending on who was asking the question, and accountability only seemed to come when contradictory evidence was presented. Whether it's late checkout availability or any other issue, guests deserve clear and honest communication rather than changing explanations.

I also had an issue at the swim-up pool bar, where service stopped at 5.45pm despite the advertised closing time being 6.00pm. The hotel manager resolved the matter professionally, which I appreciated, but the attitude of the pool barman and lifeguard made the situation unnecessarily frustrating. The explanation given—that the bar had opened early—was simply incorrect, as the pool itself didn't open until 10.00am in line with its published operating hours. If facilities are advertised and guests have paid for them, they should remain available for the advertised times.

What makes this all the more disappointing is that on our previous two visits the staff were exceptional—friendly, approachable and genuinely helpful. This time, that standard simply wasn't there, particularly at reception.

Overall, the standard of the hotel has declined significantly and, in my opinion, no longer justifies the premium prices being charged. For only a little more money, there are excellent five-star resorts offering a noticeably higher standard of accommodation, food and service.

Having now completed 13 Holiday Village holidays over the past nine years, it's genuinely sad to see Holiday Village Cyprus fall from being one of the flagship Holiday Village hotels, alongside Rhodes, to one of the weakest we've visited in recent years (although, in my opinion, still not quite as poor as Holiday Village Kos).

TUI continues to charge premium prices for the Holiday Village brand, and with those prices comes an expectation of premium standards. Based on our experience here—and another disappointing TUI holiday earlier this year—I no longer feel those standards are being delivered.

It's a real shame because this used to be one of our favourite family holiday destinations. Unfortunately, unless significant improvements are made, we won't be returning, and for the foreseeable future we won't be booking another Holiday Village or TUI holiday.

Stayed here for are 4th time at aliathon. The tui reps Dave manager and the black haired braided women were shocking..they need sacking ive already filed a report to tuis head office...me and my family will never stay at aliathon again after such happy memories for 3 years ..it as been ruined...do not stay at this hotel...the tui reps are so vindicative and drunk..my 9 year old daughter does not ever want to stay here again due to the staff and she as been coming since she was 6. We dont have any problems with the hotel staff just the tui reps that was chosen for this year. The pictures are from last year such a good time..alithoin have let us down
