Akti Beach Village Resort

Arrived late afternoon, check in was good but as we were the only couple arriving it was easy, no cool drink on arrival. We stayed in the hotel 2nd floor overlooking the pool/sea, lovely clean room and was cleaned very well every day 👏👏. Lift is very frequent only 1 but no issues, you need your door key in the lift to go higher than floor zero. Pool is clean and safe, lifeguard on hand, elder fella very chatty and a nice man. Bar service is good, they will not fill your own beakers but will give you drink to decant 🤷‍♂️ that is very strange but didn’t bother me. Drink variety is just ok! Local alcohol was again ok, certain drinks you pay for. Restaurants can be a bit like feeding time in a zoo!! Get your timing right and it dies down quickly, there is a huge shortage of glasses in the buffet, and not monitored or replenished quickly enough, we saw the restaurant manager on numerous occasions sitting outside eating his dinner, yes he is entitled to a break, but surely this should be done when the restaurant becomes quiet! Food good, selection very good, couldn’t fault it. Beach is very stoney so beach shoes required, saw a lot of people jumping from cliffs, could be potentially dangerous as I stood below and is only 5 foot deep, up to the individuals I guess 🤷‍♂️. Sea is quite clean but beware rocks at different levels, I swam out about 50 metres then stood up waist high at certain points. Paphos harbour we were told was about 1 hour 15 mins walk, too far in the heat, we did walk to a nice sandy beach about 25 mins, out front of hotel turn left, keep walking, they charge fir beds and brolleys. Supermarket on site, decent nik naks if required. Hotel entertainment low key, not the usual water aerobics, animators very young didn’t seem to get people involved, water polo ok, but animators throw ball in and walk off, not reffed or monitored. Evening entertainment ok, some good acts, but quiz night a bit fast, it seems to be a 1 week programme, so you get a repeat week 2, service for drinks in the evening was superb 👌 very prompt and polite. Grass around the pool wasn’t cut in 2 weeks and was very long, this needs addressing! Lunch buffet was ok but some food runs out if you don’t get in early! Desserts were same every day, ice cream queue was ridiculous, they need 2 freezers and the scoop water needs to be changed regularly it was not. We saw what seemed to be outsiders! Eating in the buffet regularly, no security to remove anyone!. This is a very quiet hotel with nothing within walking distance, if you want a total chill out holiday, this is for you, €15 euros to Paphos harbour in a cab, the hotel do run shuttles twice a day but this is chargeable too, I think €5 euros each. The TV has about 60 channels but only 5 English speaking, strange as the vast majority were English, ours went down twice and took 2 days to address! No you don’t go on holiday to watch TV but having something on while getting ready is nice. Because of the location you may consider hiring a car first a few days, in and out of Paphos cheaper or equal to cabs.

Pros: great clean rooms, room maid very pleasant and friendly, good selection of food at dinner buffet, breakfast eggs superb, good service for drinks at night, sea is pleasant and easy to get into, pool clean and warm, evening entertainment ok, supermarket good,

Cons: glasses at dinner run out, suggest you have 3 trolleys full, ready to go EASY to solve, restaurant manager to be visible and monitoring better (not sitting outside eating) Cut the grass near the pool more regularly, more English TV channels, a sign by the cliffs warning people. 2 ice cream freezers cleaner scoop water.

Would I visit again YES I hope management listens to feedback as little tweaks could make this hotel better.

Honest review. Overall, we had a really good stay, but I wouldn’t rate this hotel as a 4-star.

I’ll start with the good bits - The location is lovely although out of the way, the food was nice, and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived late at night and were greeted with a packed lunch, which was a thoughtful touch. We had also emailed ahead to let the hotel know it was our friend’s birthday, and they left a bottle of wine and a cake in her room, which was a lovely gesture.

The rooms, however, were very outdated and could have been cleaner. No place to put your stuff so ended up keeping everything in the suitcases, The air conditioning also wasn’t very effective, making the room quite uncomfortable at times. I didn’t have one good nights sleep all week.

Drinks - One thing I found strange was that standard classic cocktails, such as a pina colada, weren’t included as part of the all inclusive package and the rest of the cocktails included wasn’t good. The all inclusive drinks also stopped at 11pm, which was a little disappointing with no where close by to go afterwards meaning unless you got a taxi somewhere you lose ,you had to head to bed. Another downside was that bottled water wasn’t replenished in the room each day which I found bizarre, meaning you had to remember to refill your own bottle before going to bed to avoid having no water during the night.

The entertainment was really non existent , and the bits of entertainment in the evening felt very geared towards children despite the hotel appearing to be more of an adults hotel. There was some daytime activities but nothing like there is at some other hotels I’ve stayed at.

Overall, we still had a lovely holiday, However, for the price we paid , the rooms and an aspects of the all inclusive package could definitely be improved.

I always thoroughly research reviews about a hotel before I book, and this is the first time where reviews have not matched my experience. There is nothing at all that is luxurious about this hotel. It puts me in mind of a cheap Blackpool seafront hotel. The view indeed is fantastic but that is the only plus point. First impressions when we arrived were not great. Reception is very bland with no nice touches or decor. Our room was very dated and had a bad musty smell like rotting potatoes. It was particularly bad when you opened the cupboards in the kitchen. The food was the worst all inclusive I’ve ever had. Especially on French night where they served roast beef and Yorkshire puddings! There was always a long wait in the queue for ice cream -one very small freezer with rock hard budget ice cream which took little kids an age to scoop out. No ice cream available between meals except paid for ones. Snacks between meals were very poor. It was a few slices of bread and ham and cheese so you could make a sandwich. No chips or hotdogs like in other places. There was a pool table and air hockey which were charged extra at 2Euros a game. Should be free on all inclusive. Nighttime entertainment was very poor. There is no stage area - all acts were in a small area of the bar where the chairs were cleared. It was therefore difficult to see at the back. Bingo would have been good in the bar but it was not offered. Once positive was the efficient table service in the bar. However the drinks they served were not great and the cocktails terrible. I would seriously book somewhere else if I were you.
