This hotel is located on what is considered the most beautiful beach in Cyprus, in the centre of the Protaras tourist resort. There are plenty of things to see in the surrounding area such as the Cape Greco Nature Reserve, Protaras Coastal Path and some more impressive beaches. Historical sites like the Agia Napa Medieval Monastry, Aphrodite's Rock and the Tomb of the Kings are worth visiting while in Cyprus. The hotel provides many amenities and services that will suit everyone's needs whether travelling for business or pleasure. There are three restaurants serving a wide variety of international, Mediterranean and sea food dishes, three bars and a patisserie. The modern elegant suites and rooms all have balconies and are equipped with all the essential elements needed to ensure the comfort of the guests. Some suites have private balconies and pools.
Pamper yourself with a visit to the spa, which offers massages. You're sure to appreciate the recreational amenities, which include 3 outdoor swimming pools and outdoor tennis courts. This hotel also features complimentary wireless Internet access, babysitting (surcharge) and an arcade/games room.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Amazing place, hotel is new, clean, elegant, calm, beautiful. The reception desk people are amazing! Would we choose Sunrise Pearl again, knowing what we know now? No. For €2,591 for eight nights for two people with breakfast, we expected a considerably more polished experience. If the spa is part of your reason for booking, I would consider other options.
The wellness facilities were particularly disappointing. During our visit, the hammam-style steam room barely felt warm, the relaxation room was uncomfortably cold, and the saltwater pool was also very cold. The indoor swimming pool felt too cold to enjoy. We found no comfortably warm pool and preferred the sea, which felt warmer. Further spa admission after the single complimentary visit costs €25 per person. Having experienced the facilities, we would not pay that to return.
The explanation of spa access was another frustration. At check-in, we were offered a complimentary “Aqua Thermal Journey”. We understood this to mean a particular treatment or experience. We therefore visited briefly to explore the spa without realising that ordinary use of the facilities was the “journey” and that we were using our only included admission.
To be clear, the booking description does mention chargeable spa facilities. Our complaint was about how the complimentary visit was explained. Simply saying, “This is your one included admission to the spa,” would have avoided the misunderstanding.
We raised this with Pieros, who told us he would consult hotel manager Andreas Anastasiou and spa manager Sofia and call our room. After approximately 50 minutes waiting, Pieros called back and reiterated the policy and the information in the online brochure. We did not speak directly with Andreas or Sofia, so cannot comment on their individual responses. The outcome communicated to us, however, offered no flexibility, not even an opportunity to repeat the brief initial visit.
For me, the revealing part was how the concern was handled. We explained a specific misunderstanding and gave the hotel an opportunity to resolve it. The promised consultation produced another explanation of a policy we already understood. That left us feeling unheard rather than looked after.
There were positives, and the staff responsible deserve credit. The housekeeping team were lovely, daily cleaning was good, and we appreciated the chocolates and two bottles of water delivered each day. Breakfast was good, towels were available for sunbathing and fitness, and the gym shared with the neighbouring hotel was decent. The wine-and-painting activity was a genuine highlight.
Those strengths did not compensate for the overall lack of value. Fresh juice cost €7 at the pool; a few minutes away, we found a tastier one prepared in front of us for €4.50. The affiliated restaurants we tried were also underwhelming. I would recommend choosing restaurants independently rather than treating the hotel’s recommendations as an assurance of quality.
Having stayed in other five-star hotels, I expect the basics to be delivered well and concerns to receive thoughtful attention. Here, housekeeping delivered; the wellness facilities and complaint handling fell short. Given that combination, I struggle to reconcile our experience with the exceptionally high ratings.
We would not return or recommend it at this price. For anyone choosing this hotel specifically for its spa and five-star service, our advice is to look carefully at the alternatives before committing.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Love This Hotel – Already Booked Our Third Visit!
We have just returned from another wonderful stay at the Sunrise Pearl Hotel in Protaras and have already booked to return again next year for our third visit. That probably says it all!
The hotel is beautiful, spotlessly clean and in a fantastic location. One of our favourite things is the sunbed area. The sunbeds are the most comfortable we've ever used, with thick mattresses and plenty of space between them, so you never feel like you're sitting on top of other guests.
Our room was lovely and comfortable, with air conditioning that actually worked and kept the room beautifully cool, which was very welcome in the Cyprus heat. The housekeeping team were excellent. They would often knock to check if we needed extra towels or bottled water, and we loved the little chocolates left for us in the evenings.
The poolside service was great and the cocktails were delicious. There's nothing better than relaxing by the pool with a cocktail in hand while enjoying the stunning surroundings.
Protaras itself is a fantastic holiday destination. There's a fun strip with plenty going on, lots of shops to browse, and some lovely restaurants. We found two amazing rooftop restaurants during our stay which became highlights of our holiday.
This hotel and resort have such a relaxing atmosphere and we always feel sad when it's time to leave. We love it so much that as soon as we got home we wished we could zoom straight back there!

Such a great hotel – great location – right on the main street of shops, restaurants and bars and supermarkets, and it’s situated right on the beach, so you’ve got the options of pools and the beach to swim in (please note it’s a public beach, so you have to pay the 10 Euros for two x sunbeds and an umbrella), but you can just walk out of the hotel onto the beach and use the beach to swim if you don’t want pay to be there. They also have a great policy that you get to choose your sunbeds in the grounds for the duration of your stay, so there’s no need to stress and get up early to book your sunbeds – they’re nominated for you for the duration of your stay. The staff were friendly – esp the doormen and the front reception staff. Room was great – lots of space, good air-con, strong wifi, comfortable bed and a great balcony to see the ocean and sit and have an afternoon or morning cuppa on your own balcony. One thing to note, it would have been nice to have quiet music in the grounds for the sunbed areas. The Sunday they actually had a violinist booked – which played depressing music like in the Movie The Titanic when it was sinking – such a strange choice of live music when it’s a beach/poolside hotel and everyone is on holidays. There was a daily boost of music for the kids in the kids pool at 3:45pm each day – which was a bit of ‘vibe’, so unfortunately that was it - so some background music would have been nice. Overall – a great hotel and we’d stay again!
This was our 2nd visit here, We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary so contacted the hotel prior to our visit to ask if both of our requested rooms could be located on the same floor and on a high floor if possible. When we arrived we were informed the hotel was fully booked and the hotel were unable to accommodate this, but we were allocated 2nd and 3rd floor on top of each other, we were a little put out at first but when we saw our rooms with that lovely view the following morning we decided to stay put. Both rooms were very good, ours was just a bit closer to the breakfast area than we would have preferred, the staff that clean the room never stop and do a great job. The lifts are great and move you quickly, the food ordered from your sunbed is good and we used this a lot, the breakfast area can get really busy at times but also copes quite well with it and the food was mostly okay with something for everybody I would say. There are no irons or ironing boards in your room, so we asked at reception and these got delivered pretty swiftly, have to mention it is a shame our flight gets into Larnaca so late which means we do not actually land in our hotel room till after 11pm ish and a bit of a wasted day at the hotel for us to be honest but that is why we paid for an extra night making our stay 8 nights instead of 7….then because we had to be out of our rooms by 12 noon on departure day we did ask for a late check out room if possible, we were pleased we managed to keep one of our existing rooms until 6pm that day, but we thought the extra cost to us of £100 euros for the extra few hours was very expensive, we realise the flight timings are not the hotels problem but also I have to say there is nothing I could have done about this either but never mind we paid the extra and were glad we had the convenience of a room till later on, maybe in future the hotels could come to some sort of arrangement with holiday companies where this fee could be waived or on a special rate for us late arrivals and departures. In a nutshell this is an excellent hotel in the best location, with friendly helpful staff who do a really good job everyday, this hotel is right on the beach and is centrally located on the strip, it is almost perfect…almost. Like last time our only little personal negative is we would prefer this hotel to be an adult only as the amount of young children and young babies here especially around the pool bar and at breakfast time could become bothersome at times. I write this with my 2nd floor balcony door open and all we can hear are the kids in the pool, they are enjoying themselves and having a great time which is good for them but they are also loud and can be annoying to old gits like me who don't appreciate hearing the constant screaming crying and tantrums from our breakfast table, balcony or sunbed. All that being said we have once again mostly enjoyed our stay here, they do look after you with free water and chocolates in your room and I would end this review by saying that I believe mostly everyone from young to old who stays at the sunrise pearl will have a great holiday here, it is an excellent hotel.
