I just returned from a stay at the Sunrise Jade Hotel, and it was exactly the rest and recovery I needed. The location is absolutely unmatched, with the stunning coast and sea right in front of the property. Waking up to those amazing views every day was a highlight!
The entire hotel is incredibly peaceful and silent—it truly feels like a sanctuary where you can just disconnect and recharge. Everywhere you look, the property is super clean and well-maintained. The food was another massive highlight; every meal we had was super delicious with fantastic variety.
Above all, every single staff member was super friendly and went out of their way to make the stay special. If you are looking for a beautiful, quiet place to relax, I cannot recommend the Sunrise Jade enough!
I’ve given 5 stars but 4.5 was more realistic. The welcome we received late at night was lovely, a nice glass of fizz and friendly man on reception… to take this to the next level, it would’ve been nicer to do the reception sitting in chairs rather than having to stand at the desk. Also, they give you a lot of information which is quite hard to remember and it could probably do with being written down. For example how many times you can use the à la carte restaurants and what you allowances in those restaurants I just simply couldn’t remember it all late at night!
The room was lovely, well decorated and a nice bathroom. Room cleanliness was exceptionally good and the housekeeping staff were brilliant…. Unfortunately, our room 304 had ridiculous miniature drawers that we couldn’t open particularly well they will know more than 5 inches deep!
We had asked for one double and one twin room, when we arrived we had been given two double rooms, the receptionist said not to worry it will be sorted out the next day. It was never sorted out in the nine days we were there, thankfully the beds are absolutely massive so my two teenagers were comfortable sharing but have they been a different gender that might not have been the same case.
On arrival there is a fully stocked minibar, you can use everything out of it for free but it isn’t restocked at all. Every day you do get two bottles of 500 mL water and a refresh of coffee pods. Although in one of our rooms, we didn’t get that for several days and had to request it. Every day they bring round a chocolate at about 6 pm, I think this is meant to be a turn down service but it feels a bit early for that! The fridge in the room isn’t particularly cold, it’s just about okay for keeping drinks cool but I wouldn’t say it. It’s a proper fridge.
We were half bored and the food was good however anything out of the trays was generally quite tepid.
The main disappointment for us was the situation with water. For me this is a basic necessity and apart from the two small bottles provided every day, there is no option to get water apart from with your breakfast. To buy a bottle of water in the restaurant on an evening is €5 for a litre so as a family of four we were going through two bottles every night. Bottles of water from the pool bar are €3 for a 500 mL bottle, so it’s significantly cheaper to go to the shop around the corner and buy water and put it in your fridge, however you will not be as cold as the ones you can buy from the bar. Drinks in general weren’t crazy expensive, but they certainly weren’t cheap. There isn’t even a wash dispenser in the gym or spa area, so when we use the gym every day we had to ensure we took plenty of water with us.
The gym is small, the equipment is good, but the air-conditioning is a nightmare. It seems to be stuck at 23° which means it’s really difficult to work out in there, I have spoken to reception about this but it didn’t change during the time we were there.
The lounge system is kind of good but also kind of not good. It’s great if you get allocated to good lounges or in our case four because we were a family of four. Trying to get four good lounges in a good space was nearly impossible! We were allocated someone on the first day that we were in shaded by 2:30 pm. We asked to move but they moved as only a few feet further forward which meant we were in the shade by 3 pm. It did seem almost impossible to get four lounges in a decent spot for all of us.
On our last day we asked for a late checkout (we had previously asked for this in an email before we left the UK but were told we had to ask in resort ) we were told we wouldn’t be able to confirm this until after 9 pm the day before we went home, this led to a bit of not really knowing what we will be doing. Thankfully we were able to keep one of our rooms but it cost €70 to keep it until 4 pm and €100 to keep it until 6 pm. Because we only kept one of the rooms it meant by 12 pm which is standard checkout time We had to leave two of the loungers that had been allocated to us which meant four of us were sharing two lounges for the last afternoon.
The hotel itself was lovely, we did one of the restaurants on the strip on the half board option, we then cancelled our second Reservation at the other hotel restaurant on the strip because the strip really wasn’t for us. It’s obvious that lots of people really love it, but it really wasn’t my kind of place. If you come out of the hotel and walk along the boardwalk path to the left you will end up in fig tree Bay, this is very busy and you have to get down there early to get a lounger, if you turn out of the hotel and turn Right and head along The path that isn’t a boardwalk you come across a smaller beach which is lovely and also a couple of beach bars which are nice to sit and have a pre-dinner a drink overlooking the sea.
All in all it was really lovely, some of the staff were really friendly, somewhere a little bit more aloof particularly on the reception desk.
We didn’t have a Seaview room, and I’m really sad that we didn’t however our room did have the sunshine in the afternoon which was nice. I definitely wouldn’t pay for a swim up room because they were in shade by around 11 am. We got up all morning and walked down to see the sunrise which was glorious however if we had have had a Seaview room, I could’ve stayed in bed and looked at it!
Absolutely loved our stay – one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Honestly, I really don’t understand how anyone could give this hotel a bad review!
The food was amazing. Breakfast and evening meals are buffet style with loads of choice, plus you can swap your evening meal for the restaurant attached to the hotel or one of the restaurants in Protaras.
The pool area is fantastic, and having allocated sunbeds made everything so much more relaxed. No getting up at silly o’clock to reserve a bed! Every afternoon, you’re also given ice to help keep cool in the Cyprus heat — such a thoughtful touch.
Our room was lovely, with a huge, super-comfortable bed and a beautiful view over the hills. Housekeeping were brilliant, and the little chocolate left in the room every afternoon was another lovely touch.
The location is perfect — around a 15-minute walk into Protaras along a lovely, well-lit promenade. There’s a little beach area by the hotel, but we preferred swimming straight into the sea from the steps. And one of the absolute highlights was swimming with turtles on most days. It was honestly so special and something we’ll never forget. 🐢💙
We’ve had an amazing time and genuinely wouldn’t hesitate to come back. The food, location, pool, rooms and thoughtful touches made this one of the best hotel stays we’ve had.
How anyone can give this hotel a bad review, I honestly don’t know! We absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it. ❤️
Another fabulous stay at our fave hotel in Cyprus It’s like coming home every time we arrive Amazing staff throughout , shout out to Ishwar the pool guy he works tirelessly and is so friendly and pleasant he’s a credit to hotel Jeda , Anna , Andreas again so friendly and welcoming The food again was lovely , pan Asian night and Ginger are delicious I would certainly recommend this hotel and will most definitely return
An overall good hotel. All the way from check in to check out nothing was too much trouble. The allocation of sunbeds is a brilliant idea. A little bit of entertainment was provided of an evening. The Asian restaurant in the hotel is excellent. The main swimming pool is very cold, too cold for me even in the nice hot and sunny weather. Hotel was generally quiet the rooms were well laid out and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel highly.
