We came back a week ago from the Alva we had a good time near all the bars and entertainment and a shot walk to fig tree beach! The rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels to be honest the rooms were spotless. Breakfast ok nothing exciting but we hardly paid extra for it! Pool bar ok could be a bit of music and atmosphere around the pool the bar closed around 4.00. But the pizza restaurant a joined is lovely best pizza around and you can get drinks from there! We will definitely be back x
6th time at this hotel. superior suit. Hotel is immaculately clean and fresh. Reception ladies and night duty men are all really nice ,friendly ,helpful. They deserve a special mention as they turn a hotel dealing with customers into a second home dealing with friends type of feeling. It was great returning there after the beach or evening meal, you feel welcome...Rooms are very large, air conditioning is excellent, tea ,sugar, coffee provided in sachets, 2 ring cooker and microwave. and sufficient cooking utensils etc to cook basic meals if you wish. Enough storage space. Beds are very big and very comfortable ,as are the pillows .Nice modern bathroom, huge shower both rainfall and handheld, hot water at all times.Nice soft towels . Cleaners are excellent ,room was cleaned every day to a high standard ,they even did my washing up which they don’t have to ! Lovely ladies .Very good ..Good balcony for 2 people,3 at a stretch ,table ,two chairs and drying rail. Cleaned every day and ashtray emptied and washed by cleaners. I’ve stayed at several places in Protaras over the years. Capo Bay is the most expensive. The difference is the rooms there are a lot smaller, the air condition isn’t nearly as good, the cleaners are no where near as efficient and you are treated as a just another customer ,in the Alva even the cleaners treat you are a friend. I wouldn’t go anywhere else even at half the price. Highly recommended.
Location was fantastic 😀 It was so nice to come back after 22 years with my own family 😀 The guy that works the night shift is absolutely amazing! We had a slight problem with the room but was solved very fast and did not have a problem after. I would highly recommend staying here 😀
We have just returned from a family holiday. I chose this hotel based on the reviews and the hotel description on their website and on other websites. Before you book here is an honest review. Yes the rooms are lovely, we had 2 studio suites. Yes the location is brilliant. You are right on the strip literally a 3 minute walk from beautiful Fig Tree Bay. However, the hotel is very dated. The pictures shown on their website do not represent the hotel. There are no tennis courts and there is no pool table. These were on the hotel description on their website, which has now been taken off. The staff are not as friendly as everybody says. We spent more time going to reception about different issues than anything else, one even lifted her eyes to the sky. The housekeeping are very good but don’t always leave toilet role or towels. You only get one room key with a fob to turn on electricity and air con. They have another key at reception that you can use but it has to be returned each day. We wanted to have keys to both our apartments for ease. During the day there is no atmosphere around the pool, the pool bar plays the radio but closes at around 4. The pool looses the sun at 5.30 so if you like to sit out later by the pool in the sun you can’t. Luckily the beach is close by. There are steps that you can go down to get right in the sea (these are near the King Jason Hotel). All in all I’m not sure why there are so many amazing reviews other than the location and the rooms. The love boat bar which is literally next to the hotel had a pool table and fun night entertainment, along with Rockefellows and other bars on the strip. The manager however, was very helpful with our issues, but the whole experience wasn’t great, when you are looking forward to your holiday all year you don’t expect the hotel to be not as described. If you’re looking for a good base and comfy rooms then this is the perfect hotel for you but if you want a little bit of atmosphere during the day, to be able to sit in the sun all day by the pool and a hotel that isn’t run down in need of serious maintenance in the public areas then look elsewhere.
Great hotel, brilliant location very close to lovely fig tree beach and all the restaurants and bars! I was a little bit worried after seeing mixed reviews of this place but we have had the best 11 nights here!
Service - everyone is very friendly, the ladies & gentleman on the reception, cleaners speak when they see you, bar staff, breakfast staff, always all smiling which is so refreshing to see happy staff!
Room - room was exceptionally clean, everyday it got cleaned down and I can’t complain about it one bit. We were on the 4th floor in a large superior suite, we are a family of 4 and the door in the middle of the room that opened up and closed fully is very handy for bed times. The bathroom is a little strange being so open with see through glass but it does have a blind which you can’t see online when looking at photos (or at least I didn’t see them) Plenty of storage space for 4 people sharing a room, safe in the wardrobe and plenty of plug sockets! We never cooked in the room but they seemed to be enough equipment.
Pool - I had read a lot of reviews about sun bed wars which made me a bit worried we would struggle to get sun beds (we do not like the beach so only stay around the pool) honestly first morning we got here we managed to get sun beds in a prime location (sees the sun all day) at 10:30am, we managed every day to get sun beds in this spot and every day there was about 10/15 empty sun beds all day. There were always people reserving them from quite early, some days we did before we went for breakfast around 8:30/9am. Someone said it can get very busy for sunbeds in the beginning of uk 6 weeks holidays and we had missed most of the sun bed wars. Pool was clean, life guard there every day.
Food & drink - pool bar was good selection of drinks, cheap, closed around 4pm but then you can use the pizza Flox bar for drinks for the pool. We had lunch a couple of times, ceaser salad was good. We did stay bed and breakfast and used it maybe 7 out of the 11 mornings. Not too much on offer but always something to have, coffee machine, juices, cereal, toaster, hot stuff and some cold.
I would 100% recommend this hotel to anybody, everything was just what we needed. This won’t be our last time here.
